perfectpitchrob Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I just realized, in "Baby Eyes" one of the lyrics is "My Middle Name is Danger". I wonder if he wrote this from the point of view of his son Jakob
lawlblaze Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 The transition from see you tonight to its fuck time.... I was like that escalated quickly lol
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 WOW thats perfection! See You Tonight is wonderful...totally unexpected and reminds me of Words I Might Of Ate vibe (love it...v Simon & Garfunkle). Ashley is awesome, Wow Thats Loud is wacky and catchy and its stuck in my head for hours now! Lazy Bones is THE song for me off this album. The lyrics hit hard and the music fits perfectly. Obviously Stray Heart & SWTRLF are amazing but not new to me. This album is simply amazing...i cant believe we can add it to Uno and still have Tre coming...happy fucking days!!
Clockwise Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 As an album, I could listen to UNO over and over again (and have done so in my car since its release, much to my friends' annoyance). After finishing my first listen of DOS, I really love the raw, garage feel, but out of the two, I already know for sure that I find UNO the most listenable. The funny thing is that despite this comparison, DOS contains three songs which could possibly become my all-time favourites - and that's out of Green Day's entire discography. Lazy Bones, Stray Heart and Amy. This is what I was really hoping to get out of the trilogy; three good, quality albums that I'll love in three different ways. Green Day have done it again. And people wonder why I adore this band so much... Wouldn't anyone if they found an artist whose every release was above and beyond their (already sky-high) expectations? I see Nightlife as cool sounding, drunken karaoke attempt. Billie being the worst off with his monotonous slur, obviously. It's a good tune! Pretty much agree with this entirely. It's such a good album, but I think UNO is more listenable. But I'm not sure which I like more, if that makes sense.
MikeyB99 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 In Ashley is he saying. "Ashley, are you running around, are you crying out bloody murder. Ashley are you bumming around, you're crying on Michael's shoulder"?
spark in the night Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I'm not even thinking about Uno anymore. All of those songs blend together for me. I only like Let Yourself Go and Kill the DJ because those are standout songs. All the rest are just meh. This album is great because there's a variation from slow to fast to faster songs. It's a great mix of moods.
Alan86 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 In Ashley is he saying. "Ashley, are you running around, are you crying out bloody murder. Ashley are you bumming around, you're crying on Michael's shoulder"? Michael's shoulder My Cold shoulder
Laura! Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 It's going to be tough, especially after reading this thread, but I'm going to wait. I did it for Uno and I can do it again for Dos.
Hermione Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I just realized, in "Baby Eyes" one of the lyrics is "My Middle Name is Danger". I wonder if he wrote this from the point of view of his son Jakob Hahaha that's hilarious! He loves mentioning that name so much I have no doubt he had it in mind. Bet he's well pleased he managed to get it into a song
matteo263 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 listened to it....am I the only one who prefers uno ?
Florence Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 See You Tonight sounds so Simon and Garfunkel-y
Harry Potter. Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Alright, here are my ratings for all of the songs after my first listen: See You Tonight: Nice tune in the feel of the album. Fits perfectly, great start to Dos, neatly flows into the next track: 6.5/10. F**k Time: Such a dirty track. Other than that, I really like the solo, and I don't know, I just really like its melody and I like the song overall: 8/10 Stop When The Red Lights Flash: Green Day doing what they're doing best - upbeat songs with a nice melody. My only complaint would be the tempo. Should be at least a little faster! Anyway: 8.5/10 Lazy Bones: Perfectttttt: 10/10 Wild One: Never loved this one. Meh, it's alright: 6.5/10 Makeout Party: Fits to the "party-hard" theme of the album. Nice, speedy track. I'd also like to point out the epic bass solo somewhere in the bridge. : 8.5/10 Stray Heart: One of Green Day's worst songs. Ever: 6/10. Ashely: One of the best songs on the album after the worst one! Awesome lyrics, awesome melody, awesome beat. Perfect. Sort of reminds me of Nimrod... 9.5/10 Baby Eyes: Ashely flows into this one quite nicely. A bit worse than Ashely, awesome nonetheless: 9/10 Lady Cobra: Cool song: 7/10 Nightlife: That awesome drunk, party thing. I don't even know how to call it. : 8/10 Wow! That's Loud: I really like that guitar riff: 8.5/10 Amy: Good outro to the album: 8/10. I like this one waaaaaay more than Uno. Like, waaaaaaaaaay. Top 3 tracks for me: 3. Baby Eyes: 9/10 2. Ashley: 9.5/10 1. Lazy Bones: 10 out of FREAKING 10.
Alan86 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 WOW! That's ..............Awesome Love DOS!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to buy it though
Punx89 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Can't stop listening to Amy.omg what a song...
! Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the album yet, but I know forsure that I prefer Uno!
tresrocknrollgf Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 i'm trying to hold myself down and wait for the release next week, but november 13th seems like 2000 light years away... so how does this album compare to all of green day's other releases, like in comparison to something like nimrod persay?
Australian1diot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 See you Tonight = Song of the Century of the triligy
Lindsay Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Are the "oooooohhhh oooohh ohhh's" (hope that makes sense ) in Stop When the Red Lights Flash the same ones they used in Troublemaker? I can't be the only one that noticed this.
Chuckk Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 See you Tonight = Song of the Century of the triligoy Exactly!
