FatVince
For me, ¡Dos! is paradoxical. As an album, i find it uncoherent without a guiding line. ¡Uno! & ¡Dos! have this coherence I search when I listen to a record. But my favourite songs of the whole trilogy are on this album: Makeout Party, Wow! That's Loud, Stray Heart, Lady Cobra, Ashley. I really love this garage rock side of Green Day. I really feel I'm the only who thinks Lazy Bones is an awful song. For me, it's the worst song in the whole trilogy.
Cob
I found myself in a Dos mood this morning after listening to a lot of Warning, 21st Century Breakdown, and Uno. And I must say, it still remains to be a damn good album, at least to me.

colour_me_stupid_
...... Yeah. I hate this album. Sorry. Stray Heart is good, and the rest is mediocre at best. And the reason I hate Nightlife is not because its "different", it is because I do not enjoy rap in any shape or form, so just because Green Day do it doesn't mean I will enjoy it. And I can't stand Billie's voice in the start, it creeps me out. If Nightlife didn't exist I'd be delighted. Thank fuck Tre was a massive improvement. /rant
blitzkriegdeb
Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES Nightlife? It had me ecstatic, it was so good! I absolutely LOVE the new sound and what Billie Joe and Monica Painter added to the song. Great new experiment. One of my favorites off of the whole trilogy. I don't find it such a good song either, but I think Loss of Control and Troublemaker are the worst imo. I just can't like them! Brother
Fuck people who say Fuck Time is poorly written. It takes skill to write a song about sex where the guitar is written to mimic masturbation. Wut.
solongfromthestars
Whilst I love Lazy Bones and it was a favourite at first, it's really not one I'm rushing to replay now the whole trilogy is out. I dunno, it's really "epic", but that seems to fade after a while if that makes sense. I do still like it though, just not as much as some other people. Stray Heart however... played it something like 700 times now and still not bored. Favourite from the entire trilogy.

alaniluau
I will never understand the love for Stray Heart. It's my least favorite song of the entire trilogy, which I suppose makes me the odd person out. The bass line is neat, but the track goes downhill from there. My biggest issue is the lyrics. Rhyming "heart" with "part"/"apart" is one of the biggest faux paus in songwriting. It's so predictable, and it never fails to make me cringe. I'd expect a line like "Your precious heart was torn apart" from Max Martin or Rami Yacoub. It's extremely disappointing, however, coming from a man whose words regularly bring me to tears. Then the chorus kicks in, and, like many in the trilogy, it's repetitive. But that's not the only problem here. "Everything that I want, I want from you" says nothing to me. It's a generalized, throw-away line that adds little perspective to the issue of infidelity (which most of us agree is the topic at hand). What bothers me is that the chorus in particular is so generic. It could have been done by any mainstream rock band; it lacks the unique Green Day spark that I've come to love. After hearing so many positive reviews of Stray Heart, I was shocked by how bland it was. Does anyone care to enlighten me otherwise?

Are you maybe exaggerating a little? If you aren't I find that very surprising as I find the song very upbeat and it has a good flow throughout the song. It's not the best of the trilogy, but I put it in my "trilogy soundtrack" of 13 songs, so I find it good. I admit that the lyrics aren't Shakespeare or actually even close to Billie's best, but the music is very good.

Platypus2000
I feel like I'm the only one who just doesn't really like Ashley and Baby Eyes. They're probably from my least favorites in the whole trilogy. I think Lazy Bones is ok, but even from ¡Dos! it's not in my top favorites. I prefer Fuck Time, SWTRLF, Lady Cobra, Nightlife, Wow! That's Loud or Amy. On a side note, Amy is so damn beautiful! I love how Billie sings 'do you wanna be a friend of mine?' because it sounds really sad. It's like 'Amy, please, I have no friends don't leave me alone!'. Ashley, Baby Eyes and Lady Cobra are THE best of the bunch out of Dos!

You can't expect ALL 37 songs to be great lyrically AND send out a special message to you, that's just fucking unreal. Stray Heart is a good song, unlike you, I found the chorus to be one of the catchiest out of the whole trilogy, top spot goes to "Missing You" though

They're probably from my least favorites in the whole trilogy. Nah, not a fan either. I find them pretty dull, like Billie just slammed some chords together, threw down some lyrics and said "fuck it, theres a couple of songs". Blah. Filler. Ashley is a great song, well thought out, menacing, dark punk rock. Baby Eyes is a little iffy lyrically, but the melody and the guitar riff, and the overall ambience of the song, cause it to be one of my favorites. On an album full of unique tracks they stick out like a sore thumb, but I think overall they're good songs, Ashley being the better of the two. Stray Heart is a favorite of mine, I love the way Billie Joe sings that song and I love the music behind it. He may not really say anything poignant about infidelity, but after 2 albums filled with sociopolitical opinions, did we really need another? I also enjoy the fact that he sings the song from a different perspective, any other artist would have likely written from the perspective of the person who is cheated on. It's about the experience, not an opinion about it.

We know he can do better than that. A lot better. Ashley and Baby Eyes would be weak tracks on Insomniac or Kerplunk. And Stray Heart is just instantly forgettable throwaway nonsense. It tries to be all serious, but I can't feel any emotion behind the lyrics. And thats a big problem for me.

Baby Eyes maybe, but not Ashley. You can hear the disdain in his voice, his apathy and mocking of this person. I can definitely hear the emotion on Stray Heart, especially that longing feeling in his voice as he croons the chorus. But I guess it just comes down to what as song means to different people; on those albums you mentioned there are songs people hate that I love and vise versa.Dude! Clayish
Stray Heart is easily a top 3 song of the entire trilogy. Honestly one of the best songs they've ever made, extremely respectable. BlackBaboon
I really don't understand what Baby Eyes is trying to get at so I'll give the filler crowd that one. It could have been a really great number though with some lyrical revisions and maybe a bit more of an instrumental. The dark turn the songs takes just after the chorus is a cool touch, but it's just sort of lost because of the way the lyrics lack any power. Ashley I really do think is a good song. I wish Billie wouldn't have named the song after a girl though and instead replaced Ashley with another line. Since we know Amy is about Amy Winehouse and Amanda is about Billie's old girlfriend, this Ashley song just seems out of place. Who is Ashley? I think if she were a character like Whatsername or Gloria this might make more sense, but this song just sort of mentions a girl's name and then drops it and i wish it didn't do that. Other than that though, I really like the lyrics and the way the narrator seems to come to terms with being used either by a woman or a substance and admits that he cannot and will not continue down that path. I love Stray Heart. It has some very cliche rhymes I'll give anyone that, but this was the first song on the trilogy I heard where I just felt like Billie had a song that needed to escape from him rather than one he forced out. This one just feels so genuine to me and I'm not sure exactly why, but I think it has to do with the narrator admitting a legitimate mistake. It was a much more reflective song than many of the others and I tend to gravitate toward that type of writing. I've always loved "I'm a loser and a user so I don't need no accuser to try and slag me down because I know you're right." It's this way of mediating between two sides. Okay I know, I know I'm working on it and I'm sorry. There's something so vulnerable in asking people for forgiveness and admitting mistakes that makes it really easy to connect to.
