~ Walking Contradiction Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Remeber 1-2-3-4 go! Records, where Green Day played a secret show last year? They're giving away some stuff if you buy Dos Green Day's "Dos" is out today and we've got some stuff to give away if you buy a copy. While supplies last of couse! If you pick up UNO we have big posters, a sticker pack and a window cling to hand out. Pick up DOS and you could get a smaller poster, a print, a sticker pack and guitar picks! Once again this is while supplies last and we may run out of one or two things here and there. Get on down here fast if you're interested! "Tre" comes out December 11th!
Azthenia Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I like Dos a bit more than Uno, but in my opinion both these albums are the worst of their career and by a long way.
Malleus Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I guess I understand how some people can think this album has a lot of filler tracks, but in my mind it doesn't. There are some weak tracks but they are outnumbered by the strong tracks. Stop When The Red Lights Flash, Lazy Bones, Wow! That's Loud, Ashley, Baby Eyes, Makeout Party and Fuck Time are all fucking killer tracks and hold their own against songs from any other GD album.
localinsomniac Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 After two listens, I don't have much to say. Just one thing. Makeout Party: Welcome back, Mike Dirnt. Still need some time to digest the songs, but my first impression is that it's a more enjoyable listen than Uno. There's no doubt that this could be mistaken for a FHT album, with all the musical and thematic similarities. Not a fan of Nightlife, but maybe I just need to give it some more time to grow.
.Holly Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Ok, I like the new album, but I won't go any further than that. SWTRLF, Makeout Party, Ashley, Lady cobra and Wow! That's Loud all blend into one song in my mind. I like them, but one or two would have been enough! By the time the end of the album comes along, I'm kind of bored. See you tonight is my favourite song by a long way, what a shame it's a little over a minute long. Others up there on the list are SWTRLF and Ashley. My least favourite is probably Wild One. I usually love GD's slow tracks, but this one is a total skipper for me, it just draaags onnnn... I like the album, but it definitely doesn't come near my top 5 GD albums. It's good that they've released a record with a dirtier, grungier sound, but I wish they'd been a bit more creative with some of the tracks (aside from Nightlife). It is very FBHT sounding, but in my opinion, Stop, Drop and Roll!!! is a lot more diverse than iDos! Quite disappointed after the guys said this was their best ever material, I was really expecting to be blown away. I shall reserve judgment until we've heard iTRE!, but it really needs to be several steps above iUNO! and iDOS! or this will have been a bit of a flop in my opinion.
PanicAttack! Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 It's nice to see someone not overlook Baby Eyes. Baby Eyes and Ashley, in my opinion, are the most underrated songs on the album. They seem to blow by on the first listen, but when you go back a few times they start to stand out. It's definitely nice to get some classic Green Day branded punk rock on an album filled with so many unique and new sounds. They are the only two out of the 13 songs, that got me hooked on the very first listen, as far as I remember. I did listen to alot of them prior to the album's release, but I don't remember any instant infatuation. Maybe 'Fuck Time' is the only exception from back in 2010. I think it was the familarity of their pop-punk nature, and their catchy, to-the-bone hooks that got me. It was the same with 'Angel Blue' on iUNO!
TheGrouch33 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/53271/Green-Day-iDOS!/ This a review from sputnikmusic enjoy
lagurney Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I think they experimented a lot, and just chucked everything out there as different songs suite different people. If they released just 1 album from these 30-odd songs and Kill the DJ, Makeout Party, F**k Time, Oh Love, and Nightlife were on there I'd be very disappointed! And they're fairly popular with fans it seems (exception being Nightlife). So I'm glad they've allowed us to sample all of their experiments. I dont think they will be their strongest albums, (however they've said Tre is "epic") but I'm pleased to get to listen to Wild One, Baby Eyes, Ashley, Troublemaker and Sweet 16 which may have not made the cut as I love those songs! I'd rather have 3 good albums in 4 months with bits of epicness dotted around than just 1 great album anyway. If I could pick my top 10-12 songs from Uno and Dos to put in one album, it would rank as their best ever album.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 This is a little off topic, but if Tre does turn out to be the best of the trilogy then a lack of publicity may actually help it. IMO Christmas is not a good time to bring out unseasonal videos, X-Kid in January might be killer though.. Back to Dos!, I have only had one play through and have not really taken it in yet but I really like Lazy Bones.. a lot, an awful lot. Something tells me the lead single will be 99 Revolutions.
.Holly Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 To me, the album seems to be about the temptations of the life of a rock star, and maybe the life Billie would have led if it wasn't for Adie.
spark in the night Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 SOMEONE MAKE THE GDC LOGO BACKGROUND ORANGE
Sarcasm Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 SOMEONE MAKE THE GDC LOGO BACKGROUND ORANGE I prefer my vision undamaged
.Holly Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Make Out Party. That bass solo. Yeah, it's awesome. So i don't understand why ultimate-guitar said this about Mike in their review: "barely a peep from a player who for many years was at the top of the punk game". Mike's bass playing is amazing in most of the songs!
greendaygal89 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 the awkward moment when your mum is Amanda Jones hahaha love it
Florence Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Fuck Time and Makeout Party  SOMEONE MAKE THE GDC LOGO BACKGROUND ORANGE -->

GuitarPunk94 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 GASP! 21CB last? ya..musically its epic,fact..but if i had to compare it with other gd-records for me 21cb is the worst, its just my personal opinion..its not like this means i dont like 21CB, but the other albums are just better (if 21cb is 100% awesome, nimrod, dookie, etc. are 150%'s ) i also like the 'faster'punkrock songs more than ballads and stuff like this..
