Cob Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Tre is going to be the best of the album trilogy. From The Forgotten, Amanda, 8th Avenue Serenade, 99 Revolutions, and this clip of X-Kid...I might be speaking prematurely but I've had a feeling for awhile that Green Day is saving the best for last.
Little Boy Named Miguel Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 X-Kid sounds sooooooooooooo great!!! But before that, I think that the song in the background is Drama Queen. Both videos are awesome!!!
Awesompawsome Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Just when I was thinking ¡Dos! would be the best of the three, they go ahead and release The Forgotten and now these previews of Drama Queen (I saw it performed live for the very first time so I'm glad it's being released) and X-Kid. I must now change my opinion: ¡Tré! will be the crown jewel of this trilogy. What about 99 revolutions, and 8th ave serenade, and dirty rotten bastards a JOS like song apparently
Ritz Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Its amazing. Hearing them so much excited for the trilogy, their insights and how much fun they were having! That song in the first one is fucking brilliant! So amazing. Can't wait for Tre to arrive.
Vanilla Shake Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 What about 99 revolutions, and 8th ave serenade, and dirty rotten bastards a JOS like song apparently I love both, but 8th Avenue Serenade takes the cake. Can't comment on Dirty Rotten Bastards, but the fact that it's supposedly structured similarly to Jesus of Suburbia excites the shit out of me.
PanicAttack! Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Yes, I faintly hear some Drama Queen lyrics, it's definitely it! Actually, I don't know if you all remember the talk there was about the surf-pop band Best Coast which was gonna open for Green Day at some point, and Billie Joe have said once that it's a band he recently got really into. Well, I checked them out and then got their two albums, and they are actually pretty good in their own manner. Yet their songs are much alike each other, but they have a very significant, "reverb-y", sound. I think Drama Queen's new sound is heavily inspired by them. Try to listen to a song like "Our Deal", and you will get my point. I only make this assumption because of Billie's comment on them, and it seems to be different from any previous Green Day sound.

I love Best Coast, Our Deal is my favorite song. I got that feeling when I faintly heard Drama Queen in the background and I thought It was them. Haha.
The Grohl Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I squealed twice when watching those videos: once when I saw that sweet short jacket Mike was wearing and again when I saw Billie's curly hair

Clayish Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Had to watch it with no sound, but still, very cool.
PanicAttack! Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 but Billie played Drama Queen live in 2009 and Our Deal was released in 2010 ..? Yes, that's right. But it was recorded in 2012. If you look, I didn't say anything about lyrics or the song as it's written. I said "Drama Queen's new sound", which is definitely pretty new from the 2009 acoustic version we all know so well. Remember, it was part of the acoustic encore, nobody ever said that Billie Joe even at that point intended it to be an acoustic. I bet alot of their songs change sound and style over the rehearsal sessions and recording. I actually think he writes most, if not all of his songs on acoustic guitar.
Mr. Shluffy Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Holy cock, X-Kid sounds good! The melody is fantastic, and those harmonies are so simple yet so awesome. I've absolutely loved pretty much all the snippets/live versions of things that will be on Tre, but I definitely think this song needs to be a single just from hearing that little bit

Josh100_3 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Interesting that everyone loves X-Kid...I thought it was the absolute most generic chord progression i've ever heard! The cool thing about the trilogy is that everyone has their different favourite songs! I mean I really love Kill the DJ but I know a lot of People can't stand it.
thisusernameisnowinuse Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hey, those are really great videos! REALLY gets me excited for the upcoming DVD. I love X-Kid... It IS simple, but it just has so much awesome, I can't even... KLSJDFKLJDSKLF
Breakdown_EE Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 i love x-kid and i honesty thik tré will be my favourite (but we will see in 1 month). I'm so glad that we get tré a month early
GuitarPunk94 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 i watched the videos without audio..dont want to spoil did jason just talk or even sing? (pinhead gunpowder <3 ) and are drama queen and X-Kid the only songs you can hear in the trailers?...what does X-Kid sound like (like a song out of AI? Nimrod?...)
PanicAttack! Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Interesting that everyone loves X-Kid...I thought it was the absolute most generic chord progression i've ever heard! The cool thing about the trilogy is that everyone has their different favourite songs! I mean I really love Kill the DJ but I know a lot of People can't stand it. Yeah, it's a generic chord progression alright, but that's kind of the charm. Plus, the melody overlaying it is actually pretty amazing in contrast to the chords, which makes up for it. And the harmonies, oh, the harmonies! Kill The DJ is brilliant too though, it's only a mind fuck that I sometimes skip it, because it's a single and I think I've grown tired of it. But whenever I listen to it, it still blows my mind, especially that transition to "we are the vultures..." ...what does X-Kid sound like (like a song out of AI? Nimrod?...) I'd say, hmm... maybe that period between Warning and American Idiot. Songs with a similar feel (not the song itself) I would compare it to is the likes of Maria and Cigarettes And Valentines. Doesn't sound specifically like either Warning or American Idiot though.
WestboundSign! Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I really, really like the style of these two videos. I like how the boys talk and I like what's beeing filmed. It creates a special feeling and atmosphere - at least for me. But what did completely overwhelm me was X-Kid. Right at the beginning when we got to know about the triology, I had this feeling that I'd love them all - but iTré! the most. The Forgotten proved it and this clip proved it even more. X-Kid is pure awesomeness.
ltrbmb17 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Part 1 is definitely my favorite. Billie's surfing scene is absolutely amazing!!! He's perfect! (it's so cold now here, this vid warms me up ) 'X-Kid' is so wonderful! I want to here the whole song!!! Can't wait for iTre! release, it will be EPIC! I'm sure! I love these : Tre looks like a child in this helmet Billie's conducting Beard Billie's laughing
Heather. Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Fuuuuck I can just picture X-kid as a radio single, blasting out of my car. Especially seeing Billie driving in the video... it's such a fun song despite the tragic backstory. I hate it when I can picture the world enjoying a song as a single and it just doesn't happen.
RiseDay Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 and are drama queen and X-Kid the only songs you can hear in the trailers?...what does X-Kid sound like (like a song out of AI? Nimrod?...) You can't really hear Drama Queen (very quiet and with a lot of effects) but X-Kid sounds like..a mix between Nimrod (kinda like All the Time but with a different tune) and Warning :DD
American_edot Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I couldn't help but cover this immediately.... what are the chords?
Breakdown_EE Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 i really love watching those videos but i hope there won't be more because i wanted (at least) the documentary not to be spoiled. It seems that everything from the trilogy gets spoiled I know i could just not watch them but i have too less self cotrol to not watch/listen any new GD stuff

I love to watch (or listen to) all previews from the trilogy! It'll be awesome to see all of them entirely in the documentary and i think that will be a little more stuff in it!
