I think they got people all hyped up for UNO and after it was released Green Day and Warner have kinda shoved DOS and TRE to the side...

Like the tracklisting for example, The DOS and TRE tracklistings were both announced all in 1 week!!!

I thought they would have released the tracklisting for TRE closer to the release date of it...

I also found this on a NZ site : http://www.mightyape.co.nz/blog/

Read the article about TRE getting moved foward

Peter Parker approves.

Didn't the want to initially drop them all within a week of each other, but warner wouldn't let them?

The fuck is going on in this thread? I see that the release date of ¡Tre! has (potentially) been pulled in, and it's devolved into a flame war over whether or Billie's addiction/rehab is his own fault? Jeez guys, let's scale it back a little bit, eh? :ermm:

It's more likely they postpone than cancel, but I'm with you- I had tickets to the Chicago show and sold them because my plans to move there fell through. Now I can't afford any tickets to the New England shows. So hopefully somebody gets spooked and wants to sell theirs cheap!

In my opinion if the worst that comes out of this is some shows are cancelled then so be it. I know people spend money and get excited, and i know its probably gutting, but that's just the way these things go. At the end of the day this is happening because Billie needed help, and personally I'd rather no tour than the alternative.

If the albums get shifted a little then so be it. I'd say the band are feeling worse about any of it than we have reason to.

They renew liscense one album at a time. Signing up for more than one puts too much pressure on them

No?

I agree with you. I would add that the marketing/single releases have been pretty messy and unfocused since before Billie's problems came to light anyway so I was never expecting the marketing of the albums to be a huge success. Things are obviously going to get changed around in these circumstances and moving the album release forward to fill in for a lack of tour like you suggested sounds like a reasonable thing to do to me and not a massive deal in the big scheme of things. At the end of the day we're still getting three albums of great music, when it comes out or how successful it is isn't that important.

I do hope they're going to be as clear they can be about whats going on with things being cancelled or dates of things being changed though. It would be nice to see things officially announced rather than working it out from clues. I guess with plans being uncertain that's not always possible but I hope if they do come up with a new plan for marketing the album it'll be done in a clear and focused way whatever it is. But since we have no control over it I don't see much point in worrying about it, I'll just enjoy the music and see what happens with the rest of it.

No?

Yes. They're not contracted for more than one album at a time. It was in an interview.

Then what would be the point of Billie and Rob making a big deal out of it not counting as three albums on their contract? Obviously, there's more than one album to fulfill per contract if they say something like that.

I didn't even receive Uno on the release date. To me there is no release date, it's just, I'll get it when I get it

I think they changed the release date so we can get a chance to listen to it before the world ends the 31 of december

Maybe it has to do with the way they get paid. I have no clue about this, but do they operate totally on commission from album sales, or does Warner also give them a "salary" of sorts for making the album? Because if that's the case then that would explain the branding of the trilogy as one contractual thing.

That being said, I agree with you Matt, it wouldn't really make sense for them to be on a one-album-at-a-time contract... that doesn't really provide stability for either the band or the label so unless they both agreed not to trust each other recently, I don't understand why they would do that.

If they're really pulling it in to a December release, the idea could be to drive holiday sales. With all three albums out before Christmas, individual sales and box sets could see a HUGE spike in units moved.

This is right.

On the other hand, there are always creative ways of fulfilling contracts - live albums, greatest hits, b-sides etc.
