New release date for Tre?

If I'm not mistaken ¡Tre! has been compared a bit to American Idiot. Maybe Warner would move the release date to December to capitalize on an album that they think would appeal more to the masses before Christmas. Regardless, something about the album being pushed forward gives me a bittersweet feeling.

I don't know how to feel to this. If this is true, seems like warner is doing moves to end quickly the promotion to the trilogy. There is no promotion to Dos, besides the Stray Heart video, and I don't think that they do something else.

I hope that this was just a typo in that site. Seems that the rehab screw all of this :C

OK I'm an idiot... I'll even facepalm myself for asking this but....

Can someone explain why pushing album forward gives them a bad feeling???

I'm not really getting it. :S

Someone enlighten me.

Just because the albums are released doesn't mean promotion has to end, right? I mean, there's so much material here and long after American Idiot came out I was still able to see and hear about the album well after it was out. I don't think either situation (December or January) is a bad thing, it just lets me know when I can hear some more kickass music. That's only me, though

It kind of gives off the feeling that Warner is rushing to get the trilogy over and done with.

Oh ok, I get that part, I thought it was something else that was making people feel uneasy about the whole thing...

thanks :)

heh dont feel bad about. People are worried because theyre afraid that pushing up the album release date means that the bands isnt going to be around to promote Tre so the record company is skipping over the whole promotion period. This could mean the world tour may be in jeopardy. This could also mean that the record company is, in a way, giving up on promoting the trilogy and is just trying to get it out of the way.

Who knew that getting an album in advance could be such a bad thing? It's all speculation btw, no one really knows why theyre doing it

American Idiot was also an enormous success, even in the few weeks after it was released. It's different with the trilogy because Uno, quite frankly, bombed and thus didn't really generate any hype for Dos and Tre.

Yeah, they could totally promote the albums after they release, but it would be a bit of a lost cause. Especially where they're releasing Dos and Tre so close together now, trying to promote 2 albums at the same time, when they've already been released, would be pretty hard and clustered to off.

Got the same feeling. I keep trying to justify it in my head, but I don't know. I get the feeling that the trilogy is going to get swept under the rug, so to say. Like, it seems like no one (specifically Warner) is as confident about the trilogy as they were when Uno was released, and now they're trying to deal with Dos and Tre in a pretty haphazard way. Probably just being paranoid, but again, who knows.

Does this mean I no longer have to hide my feelings about the trilogy? I think the whole trilogy was a shitty idea. Putting out 3 albums is not good at all, and they should've only made one album. There. I said it. I'm not ungrateful, nor do I not like the songs, but everything has gone downhill since the release of Uno. Green Day's future albums will have limited creativity because if Warner keeps Green Day, they will be on a tight leash. Warner screwed up, is unable to promote the albums. But the good news is they might put out a greatest hits or bside comp. to make up for any loss of profit or goals that weren't met. Don't argue with me, I have no idea what I'm saying and I don't know why I keep typing. What the fuck am I saying?

Not sure. But the trilogy counts as only one

They renew liscense one album at a time. Signing up for more than one puts too much pressure on them

If the trilogy does fail then the next time green day make a record then warner will be trying to interfere this time .... because green day might not care about album sales .... Warner does :/

My feeling for the trilogy has changed since we first heard of it

At the start it was like : OMG THIS IS SOO AWESOME ... 3 ALBUMS COMING OUT

Now it's like - Maybe this wasn't such a good idea and maybe they should have released just 1 album instead - but the arguement is that we would have had to wait like 5-6 years for something they are doing in the space of 16 weeks :/

That's a fair point, I mean, Warning didn't sell well. Warner didn't interfere and we got American Idiot.

I don't think it was a bad idea to do 3 albums, I just think the way the concept was handled was pretty weird. I forget which interview it was, but Billie recognized the fact that it doing 3 albums could've been either the best or worst decision they made, so even he knew it was a risk, but I think when push came to shove, none of them (the band or Warner) really understood just how much it would take to promote & sell (successfully) 3 albums in such a short time. Of course, Billie's poor health didn't help the situation at all, but I think it's safe to say that they bit off more then they can chew with the trilogy.

I do have to admit, I've gotten a weird vibe from the trilogy ever since it was announced. But, like I said, it had the potential to work, I just think everything came to a head at the wrong time, and some things were done pretty bad, and now the trilogy has to suffer for it.

I don't really know tbh ;/ some record companies get pissed off at album sales and interfere with the band so they make the most extreme music they have ever done and that type of music the record label THINKS will be good singles and stuff .

But whatever I don't really know how it all works - I can only guess :)

Maybe they just want to bring it forward to distract/make up for having to cancel part of the tour.

It seems like nothing has worked out right this era

They have mentioned before pre AI that they didn't give 2 shits if warning didn't sell well - their opinion might have changed now but who knows :(

I think a lot of us are overreacting to this. There are a lot of reasons why Tre might be moved.

For all we know WMG might have sent out the release date of Tre's first single and the wording was fucked so retailers are mistakenly changing the date. They could also move it to coincide the release with Twilight and get on that "media onslaught" everyone wants so it rides the wave with The Forgotten.

Maybe Billie has been green-lit to tour so they're making moves to beef up promotion (since it's pretty much died after iHeart).

Either way this is speculation; there is nothing official as of right now.

New artists they deft would interfer but eatablished acts usually gets leeway (tho im sure Warner probally wont approve another trilogy lol)

I think we should wait for anything official.

If this is true it gives me that icky feeling, because while I had resigned myself to the fact that Dos' promotion was doomed to shit due to the band's current circumstances, I had hoped that Warner was planning to regroup and attack fiercely come January. A move to December (and early December, mere weeks after Dos) suggests that there will be none of that and they have no hopes of making any kind of splash.

Incredible how much shifting of expectations can go on in a Green Day fan's head. Remember in July/August we were reading all these epic descriptions of the media onslaught coming our way, with all signs pointing toward a glorious PR experience. It's hard to say if that would have been the case had Billie remained available (I don't think his situation accounts for UNO's success/failure at all, but DOS might...), but it's sad to think the story of these albums might wind up tragic considering they should be received with wide and open arms, but several factors have conspired to prevent it. Oh well, c'est la vie. At the end of the day we're getting so much awesome music. I can get over the commercial implications.

This is a good way to sum up my feelings over this. To be honest, I never really thought the trilogy would be all that successful. Levels of American Idiot success for Green Day just isn't in the cards anymore. It was a risky move and I am not surprised that promotion is going to shit. It would have been nice to see Green Day everywhere, and for a little while it kind of felt like that, but they just seem to be keeping their head above water. Billie's health problems are certainly throwing them off their game.

At the end of the day though, I don't really care. I don't care about promotion and I don't care about public image because I listen to Green Day for myself and I know that I'll be getting three great albums that I'll enjoy from my favourite band and that's all I can really be assed to focus on. They are still millionaires and most people know at least a few of their songs, so I'm not exactly upset.

Wow look at all of us, we're like the exact opposite of hipsters.

I still don't believe it. Why the fuck should we believe iTunes over Green Day's official site? iTunes doesn't even have the release date of Uno right.

I'm not believing anything until the band officially confirms it.

this is all weird, nonsensical and spinning wildy out of control.

will sit back, wait with as much patience as I can muster, for some official news.
