Mar Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 The article isn't anything that exciting... there's a small interview with Michael Mayer and some comments (and an alphabet thing) about the musical. There's also a side column where Mike talks about Billie's situation, but it's basically just what we heard on Zane Lowe. The things Billie said are from a 2005 interview. Typical Kerrang repeating their old stuff like it's new. Yeah, that's why there's only about 1 out of 10 Kerrang GD features where I'm like "Shit, I wish they sold it in the U.S." but I like that they like the band and feature them so often.
fiercecircus Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Re: "Life in danger" stuff, i wonder if he was suicidal? He never came off as being too fucked on drugs to sing or stand... but maybe it was self-medicating for depression. I mean, that's a way to endanger yourself too. Speculation, speculation! I know! but i have that in the back of my mind, cos i've been there too. Anyways, carry on. BTW, this "article" is way less fulfilling than i thought it would be. Now i remember how much i hate rock magazines...
cabot_girl Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 Thanx!! I'm also analyzing what Mike really meant by this... I mean they used to do acid, meth...and they'd be laughing about it...all of a sudden they talk about Billies life.. It might be selfmedicating because of bigger issues. Only speculating, but perhaps he felt he has done too much trying to please the recordcompany.. I mean making clean version of albums, being on the voice... I don't know, but I'm thinking of the interview with Kennedy before Iheart show.. He did say he didn't wanna be there....and I believe that was Billie talking, and not polite Billie that we have seen in recent interviews..
Slave To The Network Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Sorry that took so long, had to help mum with something and feed the cat (I also stood on a slug ) That was a fantastic article! Thank you so much for posting it!

Anyway it's really a stretch to presume that this is related to 'pleasing the record company.' That is the ultimate projection of fan dissatisfactions with the band onto Billie. I'm sure his problems (related to work or not) are his, not ours.

"restless heart syndrome" came in my mind when I read "Self medicating for depression"... I think we can understand a lot by reading the lyrics of that song...and considering the fact that It's a 21cb song....uhhn maybe Billie has been having problems for a long long time... btw,we can only suppose, now we only know that Billie's life is in danger...he also drink a lot... Alcohol+pills... dangerous cocktail...so now I'm glad Billie's getting help.....We must have faith in him and his therapy....
DannyDirnt Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 OMG Lady Gaga as Whatsername? That would be so epic imo! And two things on this: 1. Mike seems to be doing the frontman while Billie is in rehab 2. Some curious stories there 3. What annoys me is that when Mayer talks he doesn't even mention Mike and Tré. All is Billie, Billie, Billie, Billie, Billie's music...
Schlappy Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 3. What annoys me is that when Mayer talks he doesn't even mention Mike and Tré. All is Billie, Billie, Billie, Billie, Billie's music... Oh DannyDirnt, you never fail haha. Relax buddy, it makes sense. The collaboration with the band was much more about message and meaning of each song than it was anything else, so of course theyre going to linger on the words of the man who wrote it! Yes american idiot is a product of all three members, but the characters are from Billies experiences. Besides he was the most involved anyway

And your argument seems fair enough.
