Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Right, except it's not about a friend. It was about a kid one of his sons went to school with. Billie was inspired and had wanted to write a song about it for some years now, and he finally did. I think he elaborated in the Billboard magazine. Edit: here it is - http://www.greendaya...articles/163/5/ So Billie's son and a schoolmate who was raised by two women. One of the kid's parents was born a hermaphrodite, and they cut off his penis, and the parents wanted this kid not to be identified a a boy or girl. Also the kid didn't really have a name. Such a sad story. Ha you beat me to posting the article haha...when i saw your post i was like no...it wasn't the school kid (who is the hermaphrodiite) it was about the parent of the kid who never got the chance to choose their gender and always felt like they should have grown up as a man...it is such a heart wrenching story and i'm glad Billie has the guts to write about it! Now that we have the official tracklisting of Tre! I can't believe how many of the songs we already know! So much for keeping it fresh! Must say though while i adore Uno! I think Tre might be the best simply based on Drama Queen, 99 Revolutions and 8th Avenue Serenade (which is absolutely killer...i would marry that track i swear!).
AwfulHomesick Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 You think Drama Queen was recorded acoustically? I think a full band version would be interesting to hear.
The Forgotten Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I can't wait for Sex Drugs and Violence. In my mind it's gonna be in some way related to Blood Sex and Booze
Cob Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 8th Avenue Serenade, 99 Revolutions, and Amanda are probably the best songs I've heard from everything that's been released so far. I can't wait for studio versions of those songs, especially Amanda. I hope the world doesn't end before this comes out.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Wasn't Missing You mentioned in one of the articles? I could have sworn I read something about it. And is it just me, or does the song that people believe to be Sex, Drugs & Violence sound like Blitzkreig Bop? Its the song at the very beginning:
Asa. Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Here's more (probably) Sex, Drugs, and Violence.
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Don't forget 7th Avenue Shuffle from Stop Drop and Roll. I wonder what style of music goes on on 9th Avenue 27th Ave. Shuffle Wasn't Missing You mentioned in one of the articles? I could have sworn I read something about it. Yeah, I was trying to remember what they said! They mentioned Missing You in some article that came out on July 30th, but I don't recall which one. I'll have to go searching for that now, because I'm curious as to how they described it. Also, in the caption for one of the studio updates on the Idiot Club, it revealed that we could hear part of Missing You in it. But the captions are gone now, so I don't know which studio update it was. Grr. Does anyone else remember which video it was? Or what that article was? I think the interview was with Rob Cavallo.... EDIT: Here it is! Missing You is "irresistible pop rock" - http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news09067#.UBalXlGdUMQ.twitter
Guest Trotsky Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 And is it just me, or does the song that people believe to be Sex, Drugs & Violence sound like Blitzkreig Bop? Its the song at the very beginning: Nah...It's just a 10 second clip dude.

Guest Trotsky Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Yea It's pretty siimilar, but a bit slower ....But it's just a 10 second clip.Judging from these 10 seconds this song can remind me 20 more punk or pop punk or power pop songs. Let's hear the whole song and then judge what looks like.
Amber. Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Can't wait to hear Little boy named Train and X-Kid...too bad they didn't include Dreamcatcher or Olivia! I know! I was really hoping they'd include Dreamcatcher...I'd kill for a studio version of that.
Neon Light Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 This album seems to be packed with some really heavy stuff. Occupy, hermaphrodites, finally naming the girl he's been singing about since Dookie, and who knows what else. This won't be easy listening, but could potentially be something really special.
Webb_2011 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I am REALLY excited to hear the studio version for 99 Revolutions. I absolutely love that song! I also can't wait to hear how the studio version of Drama Queen sounds. Those are really the only two songs that I've heard from the album (I tried not to listen to 8th Avenue Serenade). I can't wait to hear what X-Kid sounds like. I know Billie has talked about it a little bit in a magazine scan I saw on GDA.

Not to mention the suicide of his close friend, Brando. And Drama Queen, I hear, is about society's pressures on people. Heavy stuff indeed. But this could make for a really powerful record. I'm excited.
Todd Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Ah! which studio video has Missing You in it? I searched forever on idiot club just to find out the captions went away
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Ah! which studio video has Missing You in it? I searched forever on idiot club just to find out the captions went away That's what I was saying! I can't remember which video it was...... EDIT: The captions are back. At least for me. It's the video from 4/24 "I'm Feeling Blue" - that video.
Heather. Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I am expecting greatness out of Tre, more than Uno and Dos. This is partially because I already know most of the songs on Dos, so I have a good feeling of what that record sounds like, but Tre remains mostly a mystery, one that I won't be able to keep mysterious for very long no matter how badly I wish I could... Every part of me wants to not listen to any of the songs before it comes out, but no part of me is going to be able to resist leaks and single releases (Especially if the Forgotten is actually a big splash next week... then I hope I CANT avoid it, because that'll mean great success for Green Day). I'm super intrigued by Brutal Love because it was described as "gospel tinged" and I'm trying to think of ANY Green Day song that sounds gospelly and I can't. But I've always liked that kind of sound as long as it's detached from religion

No Rhyme Or Reason Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 What? There's like, no music in that video? Unless they actually say "I'm feeling bluuueee" in the song Yeah, it's kind of weird. Just like some random drum stuff and things. I guess Missing You will remain a mystery a little bit longer I am expecting greatness out of Tre, more than Uno and Dos. This is partially because I already know most of the songs on Dos, so I have a good feeling of what that record sounds like, but Tre remains mostly a mystery, one that I won't be able to keep mysterious for very long no matter how badly I wish I could... But I've always liked that kind of sound as long as it's detached from religion Totally 100% agree. I kind of see the three albums as watching Green Day evolve. Uno is most like their earlier stuff - simple, catchy pop punk songs. (Though it's a lot more serious and deep than people give it credit for. And has moments of musical diversity for Green Day.) Then Dos is really different and experimental, and them expanding the kinds of themes and genres they can perform. I have high expectations for Dos, just because of how eclectic and foxy and weird it should be. But Tré sounds like it will be the most evolved and grandiose. Being described as epic - and being compared to two of their most musically perfect albums yet, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown - I think Tré could be really profound and ambitious. I think it will be the most critically acclaimed of the three, though Dos may be lauded for its experimentation, and Uno is a fan pleaser that's fun and reminds us of why people loved Green Day in the first place.
Annie, get your gun Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 These awesome news make me happy on this crappy day!!! Most excited to listen to Brutal Love, Missing You & 8th Avenuw Serenade (which I heard live and it's lovely♥) Those sound like love songs Sex, Drugs & Violence is an interesting title too... I wonder if it has a lesson to learn.
Insomniac45 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 You think Drama Queen was recorded acoustically? I think a full band version would be interesting to hear. In an interview posted somewhere on this thread, it said that Drama Queen was an acoustic ballad. So yeah, it's most likely fully acoustic.
Neon Light Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Not to mention the suicide of his close friend, Brando. And Drama Queen, I hear, is about society's pressures on people. Heavy stuff indeed. But this could make for a really powerful record. I'm excited. Knew I was forgetting something.
BradGreenDay Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 little boy named train... EPIC can't wait for this album
21 guns for you Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I have a feeling this will be the most successful album (both commercially and critically) of the trilogy. Cant wait for Brutal Love, The Forgotten and Dirty Rotten Bastards XD
drugstore hooligan Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Glad to see Drama Queen on there. Gotta say i think im most excited to for this, im longing to hear some real experimental/epic songs.I lived Uno and Dos last night so today im hungover and Tre would be the perfect soundtrack right now.
