Zomi Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 This album is my second fave, has a lot to it <3 It's a mixture of everything really, and I just love it. Probably the only songs I never really liked much were Last Ride In and All The Time, haha. But all the other songs are just favourites, and couldn't really choose. Gotta love 'em all :'3
Australian1diot Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 this album got me into GD... i became a fan at AI but my Dad is into them a lot then gave me Nimrod after AI, my favourite album by far!
Femme Gauche Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 The definition of experimentation. Funny, I didn't know today was its "birthday", but I just decided to give it a good and proper listen right now, as I haven't done so in a little while. Apparently, mid-late 20s was an unrestful time for Billie Joe? Lot of anxieties... Worried about being stuck in a rut in love (Redundant) and in life (Grouch), reminiscing (Haushinka, Good Riddance), and just having a lot of anger (Take Back, Platypus). Along with a healthy dose of general frustration with oneself (Jinx, Uptight)
Nikkilite Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Oh Nimrod. Its totally in my to 3 Green Day albums. My favorite song has to be Prostetic Head. and.. i dont really dislike anything.. I just cant belive its 15 years ago now!
Neutral Milk Hotel Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Even though I hate picking favorites, Haushinka is probably my favorite song on this album, along with Scattered and Platypus. This is, in my opinion, one of Green Day's best albums, up there with Warning and Kerplunk.
Nuclear Family Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 This is the first album I would have been alive to actually listen to. And although I don't think ANY Green Day album is the best (I kind of float from one favorite to another seasonally) but lately this has been a perfect mix of hate, anger, reflection, and love. Happy 15th, Nimrod. May you continue to bring much joy to your listeners for many, many years to come.
ChelseaDagger Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Huh. I could have sworn this album came out in November. Oh well, so much for my memory Dear Nimrod. I remember buying you the day you came out and I love you to bits!! My favorite song has always been Hitchin' A Ride. The Nimrod tour was also the first time I saw Green Day live. Green Day was headlining a festival, and I managed to stay up against the barrier all day. I got kicked in the head by a crowdsurfer so hard I blacked out for a second. I didn't fall down because I was so squished by the surrounding crowd they kept me standing up!!! Billie danced in a leopard print thong, and Tre set the drum set on fire after the performance. It was a show for the ages!!!!! I'm so glad my parents let me go haha. My dad had to drive me and my friend a long way to get there!!! Thanks for the memories, Nimrod!!! Love, Chelsea xx
EJN Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 My 2nd favorite Green Day album! Green Day pushes the pop punk sound of the 90s to a new level on this record with their awesome experimentation. I love pretty much every song on this album. I used to skip Take Back and Last Ride In but they have grown on me. The horn and string arrangements on Last Ride In are pretty fantastic. I love how bitter the lyrics are, and Billie delivers them excellently. I can't really pick a favorite but I listen to Uptight or Scattered a lot when I am looking for one song to play so I will go with them.
tresrocknrollgf Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Happy birthday to the album that turned me into an obsessive green day freak!
localinsomniac Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Only skipper is Last Ride In. It's a good surf tune, just something I have to be in the mood for. This album was my first new release day. I wasn't old enough to understand the concept before that and ended up with Insomniac a month or so after it had come out. I came home from school that day and begged my mom to take me to the Record Town. She told me I had to go clean my room first, so I raced upstairs to get to work and it was sitting there on my bed. I spent the next three hours pretending to tidy up and taking in the excellence of nimrod., basking in the glory of Green Day's best work. Such a great day.
SamMacs Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 For me it's the probably least easy-listening Green Day album, but that doesn't have to mean anything bad. It's definitely a great album and it makes a great transition between Insomniac & Warning. Those two albums are very far from each other obviously but Nimrod there inbetween is like a mix of both those albums.
Nemo. Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 This is with AI my favorite Album of Green Day. It's speacial and i love every song on it. It's an very varied album.
.Holly Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I bought nimrod after American idiot came out. Favourites have to be hitchin a ride, scattered and prosthetic head. Least favourite probably king for a day. I've never really got in to that song.
burnout409 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Truly amazing album! (as are all GD albums) I couldn't pick a favorite from it, but Scattered, Prosthetic Head and Worry Rock are to only name 3 that are Amazing! Also i have to say i love Last Ride In! Seriously just so chilled and cool! Happy Birthday Nimrod!
Malleus Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Every song on this album is killer. I remember getting it in the summer, which was definitely not in 1997 as I was 2 and it was not even out, and listening to it all day. Probably my second favourite Green Day album. Happy birthday Nimrod!
The DJ Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Wow, can't believe it's been 15 years... time flies I guess! The Grouch has to be my favorite song off that album, then Uptight, Nice Guys Finish Last, Hitchin' A Ride, and Redundant. Easily my second favorite album after Warning.
Nebula Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 My favorite Green Day album. The perfect blend of young, pissed off pop punk and more mature, introspective power pop. They told the world they refused to be pigeon holed with this one. The production is crisp and each band member delivers a fine performance. This album serves as a bridge (along with Warning) between "old school Green Day" and the Green Day we've had since American Idiot. Prosthetic Head is probably my favorite track. I also love the album artwork and color scheme.
KatherineKerplunk Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Has to be in my top 3. Theirs not one song on that album im not keen on. Really great album
Brother Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I don't really care for nimrod that much, tbh. Platypus, good riddance, and uptight are my favorites.
Pixus Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Nimrod got me into Green Day along with Bullet In a Bible and American Idiot. I totally love this album. My favorite songs would be Prosthetic Head, Uptight, Haushinka, Scattered, oh wait, count in all the songs.
desecrator09 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Still probably my favorite from them, either this or Dookie. Wow I can't believe people hate 'Take back'!? I loved it so much that my band used to cover it at shows! Wow I can't believe people hate 'Take back'!? I loved it so much that my band used to cover it at shows! Probably because its a hardcore song and most GD fans don't like hardcore punk.
drugstore hooligan Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Easily one of my favs. If not my Fav Green Day Record. Im tied between this, kerplunk and insomniac i think. But dont hold me to this im forever changing my favs.
Residue_Ride Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Definitely one of my favourites! Hitchin' A Ride, The Grouch, Scattered, Platypus, Uptight and Good Riddance are some of my very favourite GD songs.
