i'm devastated about this...in the interview with mike he sounded like he was doing better and they'd be back soon. but now it's looking pretty bad, especially if they cancel even more shows! :sorry:

I'm really, really worried about Billie! The fact that there haven't been any specific details released just makes the whole situation that much scarier. Did you guys see what Mike said at the end of that Rolling Stone article? What he said sounded like Billie's life could be in danger. Did you guys interpret it that way or am I just catastrophizing?

I dunno, I've seen people around taking it that way (it's actually a quote from that Radio 1 interview he did the other day), but I don't think just because he used the word life he means Billie's life was literally in immediate danger. I think he's just saying his his life, his wellbeing, is the most important thing, and that obviously if he didn't deal with the problem his life could be in danger. That's the case for anyone with a substance abuse problem, if they let it carry on and get worse then their life could be in danger. I think that's what he was saying, not that he was at death's door.

I sure hope so! I wasn't thinking he was at death's door, though, I was just thinking that the situation could be so bad that it could at some point escalate more quickly and become more and more dangerous for him.

Taking everything together, it seems prety safe to say that Billie is receiving outpatient treatment from his home, rather than having been checked into an actual facility anywhere. That was assumption made by journalists based on Green Day's statement and was never corroborated by any other source.

Finally someone explained this to me. Because when I first read that he's in rehab I was like ''Oh my God!!'' Because from what I know, going to rehab is something like when they take you to another country, they drug you with medicine, you have no contacts with the world, your friends, family. And then you live there in that institution with many other people, do something productive every day and stay there for like 5, 6, 7 or even more years.

But then he posted pics of himself, and Adie... And I was like.. ''What the actual f***?!'' ._.

Oh, thanks you.

Yeah, I guess there's really no way of knowing what could happen if he didn't get help for his problem or exactly how serious it could've got. But he is getting help :), so luckily we won't find out.

I saw Billie's posts on instagram and I was thinking, that everything is going to be fine. And now I see this article and I don't know, what should I think. I'm really worry about him, because, to be honest, we don't know anything for sure. I'm waiting for another official statement from the band.

And really, that's all that needs to be said on the matter. :)

I'm just really worried because I've been planning my trip to Chicago and Philadelphia to see them and it takes up time and money. I don't want to sound selfish but I can't help it. My mom will cut my head off if everything goes wrong.

Can someone please post a link the the Mike interview on Radio1? All I got to know of that was what I read in the Stone's Rob Cavallo article.

Naw. That's if the person has a serious mental issue and has to be institutionalized. That's not rehab. Rehab is usually a short stint at a location near home for a couple weeks, a month or a bit more depending on the person and their needs.

Two totally different things.

this is off topic but I just read the part about your proposal in your signature and it melted my heart! that is seriously incredible!!

I have to think it's way better for him to be at home and getting healthy than be cooped up in some rehab house

I just hope Billie gets better :/

I have a feeling he's currently doing more or less a home detox system while the doctors or whoever see how bad his situation is.

Billie needs to hurry up and get better :P Not because I want them to be out and touring, but because the sooner he gets better, the sooner he can start living his life to its full extent again

It's really scary. We must just hope for the best. And try to don't go crazy, but it's hard. OH SHIT. first mike looks calm and soothing, seems to say that things are better and that the worst is over.. THEN this interview to Rob where the situation seems even dramatic, but wtf?!

I don't know how to take your comments on here considering you have stuff in your sig. about the breakdown :lol:

Oh man... This is kinda scary :( Why do I always wake up to bad news? =/

I DON'T want to sound selfish, but I'm also glad the European tour probably/may won't be affected by it. Don't get me wrong, please, I totally agree that he should take as much time as he needs to return to 110% of Billie Joe fucking Armstrong power, that's only the little minority point of view of the concert loving side in me, though. They were the first show I ever went to in my entire life and I just can't wait to see them again.

You can listen to it on GDA here:

There's a thread about it here on the forum too.

You're really overstating how much promotion they've done. 10 or 11 gigs over August/September, followed by two award shows. Their TV show appearances are a song or two at most. Much of the promotion has actually been online stuff and advertising tie-ins, such as the recent CSI soundtrack. That's not to say Green Day don't work hard, because clearly they do. And yes, traveling through Europe gets tiring. But they're a band - they play shows. It's what they do.

It's altogether more likely that Billie has had a growing problem for a while, and it just came to head at a busy time. To blame the trilogy is, I think, a little misguided. Consider the promotion for American Idiot, or even 21CB. Look at how hard other artists have to work to promote their work. If anything, now - before the real touring begins - is the quietest time for the band!

Either way, good to hear an update from Rob. Billie will get there in time, I'm sure.

The smartest comment on this situation yet :)

Trust me, I know my psychology, and talented people who drink and use drugs don't have it easy. Billie probably goes from extreme highs to extreme lows, and has delutions of grandiosity. Mentally, you can compare him to an out of control 16 year old kid who thinks he's god (and it doesn't help when you have people telling him he is)..lol. I'm sure when he's sober he's the most down to earth happy mother fucker on the planet, so let's just pray he gets there again. Since they started promoting UNO I could really see a strange look in Billie's eyes like he was about to lose it..ha!

Comments on instantagram? Saying what? Sorry, I don't follow instantagram.

just keep praying that he gets better. It'd be a shame for them to cancel their arena shows. Fingers crossed.

Thank you so much, Hermione!

You're welcome :)

I would say to anyone who does have tickets to the first part of the upcoming tour to hold out booking travel/hotel - just in case. Because a concert ticket will be refunded but those things are trickier and at least that way the only downside is no show, not losing out on all the other money.

But that said i'm hoping it won't come to that, but also hoping Billie takes as long as possible.
