Respect? From who? Saying fuck every other word and trying to make yourself sound important doesn't seem all that worthy of respect. We fucking get it, you've fucking been around since the late fucking 80s, fucking whooptie fucking doo!

He made himself sound so pretentious. If that had been any other band people here would probably just write it off as a bitch fit. Also I laughed my ass off when Mike started slamming his bass on the ground when Billie started smashing his guitar.

He just wanted to be popular :P

Dude, fucking stop. You're a broken record, and pretty much everyone in this thread is sick of listening to you. Next time you repeat the same fucking thing for the purpose of pissing people off, you're getting warned and suspended for trolling.

Trying not to overplay this and burn myself out but it's so hard. I played all the singles so much from Uno that I can't listen to them anymore, I don't want that to happen with this song but it's just too good to not listen to all day.

Haha, I'm the same. I've made a playlist with other songs on it because everyone is sick of hearing Stray Heart over and over, but when I'm alone I just switch Stray Heart back on :P Hoping I won't get sick of it because I never got fed up with the live recordings.

I don't want to claim I am a music critic and granted I am bias towards Green Day, however, people use the same melodies all the time and change the words. It's not like Green Day is the only one who uses this practices. Hell, some people on the radio nowadays are using other people's songs in their song (ex. Good Feeling by. FloRida) <- Now, that's some cutting and pasting crap right there. However, despite Green Day using maybe some of the same melodies or whatnot, I think the song sounds amazing! I find Green Day criticism hard to take, not gonna lie. But I don't think it's fair to call Green Day out, when bands and artists out there are doing much worse when it comes to composing their songs. Oh, and at least Green Day writes their own songs and music, it seems like most artists now a days just get their music handed to them and just lip-syncing..oops, I mean sing :P

When rap artist do that its called sampling. Its part of the genre you'd know that if you actually listened to rap. And saying most artists nowadays don't write their own music and lip sing is a huge generalization. A HUGE generalization. You realize there's millions of music artists out there right? Even on major labels there are thousands. Artists that can probably make Green Day seem like the Jonas Brother in complexity by comparison.

About time mods are cracking down on WWTS. Jesus.

Anyway, Stray Heart is just gorgeous. I fell in love with that baseline the first time I heard the live recording from Tiki Bar. I remember thinking "holy fuck new Green Day sounds so awesome". Crazy to think only a year later we have a studio version. I think it's a great single choice.

Because they're reusing melodies from a song on their previous album.

It isn't from an album that was released 10 years ago.

And its the song's chorus which is usually the most memorable part of a song.

And I'm sorry, but if you don't hear the similarities, despite the fact that its literally the exact same then you're kidding yourself and in denial. Taking part of a previous song's bridge and making it the chorus to another song is pretty bad. At least try to change the way its sung or something instead of it seemingly being a copy and paste job. Jesus some of you are so blind to critisism when it comes to them.

Oh and uh Stray Heart yadda yadda.

im not kidding myself. i just don't take everything as seriously as you do. i see bigger problems in the world and yeah, Green Day's music makes me happy. I love the new songs so im not going to do like you. :)

Why are you even on Green Day community? if you're here to bash Green Day.. then leave. sorry, but why the fuck are you on a Green Day forum if you dont like or respect them?

I read somewhere one reviewer comparing the song to 60's soul, and I can certainly hear that in Mike's bassline. Very motown-esque!

Somehow I'm going to have to limit my playings of this song so it doesn't get overplayed, although I lost count when it went over 50

I was right about this one being a grower for me. But dang, didn't expect to get get attached to it so fast! There's that fun bass line, and does anyone think that this is one of the best Green Day songs to sing along to? Or maybe i just think that right now cos i really feel like singing bluesy songs after a impressively shitty day. Anyway, it's working! I'm feeling a tad better already!

My drama class mostly consists of me and the student teacher talking about music and stuff, so today I put on Stray Heart while we were chilling. A bunch of people in the class liked it and my student teacher said she loved it.

I am going to spread this song like a nasty STD.

Dos is going to be one hell of a record, i feel bad from the people that will crap out after Uno. Meh, they dont deserve it anyway

I put Stray Heart on in my car yesterday while I was working and put it on repeat so I could listen to it a couple of times through. I keep telling myself that I'll switch back to Uno after it ends, but then it just comes back on and that bass line gets me every time. Fantastic song. I did end up forcing myself to push the disc button though, but it's still tempting to go back to.

Also, my scale for rating how awesome things are is as follows: If awesome doesn't describe this thing then it's fantastic. If fantastic doesn't describe it, then it's fanfuckingtastic. If fanfuckingtastic doesn't describe it, then it's fanfuckingtastically awesome. And if that's still now enough, then it's Green Day. Right now this song is trying to push past the level of Green Day in terms of awesomeness.

I can't remember the last Green Day song that recieved such universal love. JOS, Letterbomb? Maybe EJN?

This song and the previews has proved to me that Dos is going to top Uno, and I dont even have it in my hands yet! Don't get me wrong, Uno was great, but this song alone has blown me out of the water. Nothing really struck me at first listen with Uno.

I said that! :woot: I don't know if you were talking a real reviewer or someone here, but I totally hear an early 60s Motown kind of sound. I love it!

I'm doing my best not to listen to Stray Heart too much, since I want Dos to still sound fresh.... But it's so hard!!! The song is stuck in my head :runaround:

I absolutely love it

I'm going to make a prediction that this will feature on a romcom soundtrack at some point, can totally imagine it. Not even sorry.

This song is perfection. And I'm going to try and explain why I think so:

When the song first starts, that amazing bassline just blasts in your ears, and makes you know that the song is going to be such an emotional experience. The bassline is so good and catchy that I could be mumbling it for hours. For me it's already like an alternative way to sing the song!

Then, the drums fit perfectly with bass, with that beat that isn't either too soft or too strong.

The guitar... well, during verses it only complements bass by playing one note from time to time, but it's just enough. They just complement to well! When the chorus breaks in, the bass becomes more of a compliment and the guitar takes the lead, bas pulling an energic melody that accompaigns the chorus and makes it feel magnificent.

And then there's the vocals. This along with bass is, in my opinion, the most orgasmic part of the song. Billie's voice is just soft, sweet and sexy. It just has that 'innocent but filthy at the same time' sound. When the first verse just starts 'I lost my way oh baby this stray heart went to another' you already realise how amazing this song is. They just get stronger in the chorus, with those perfect backing vocals where Mike's voice perfectly synchronizes with Billie's and takes their professionality to a whole new level of awesomeness.

My conclusion: This is in my opinion one of, if not the best of their songs. It's soft and punchy at the same time. Sweet but sexy. It's just so different from all their past songs that it's so hard to describe it well! It's just so evident how much love and dedication all of them have put in this song! But if I have to pick the one that has made the best of him, I'd choose Mike because of the prominent bassline and spectacular backing vocals. I don't really know what's more epic, the instrumental or the vocals! I'm just in love with this song! I give this song a 10/10.

Hope you liked my Bastard-Of-1967-ish post
