Guest Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Guns N' Roses killed their career with the Use Your Illusion albums. History suggests it is a FAR from safe plan. GNR's career was fucked before the Use Your Illusion mess.
Alan86 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Uh, if you actually think about it, it kind of is. More albums, so more sales equals more money. More singles equals more money. More of a chance to earn accolades, which spark more interest, which results in more sales, which results in more money. Now, doing a triple album would have been a lot more risky. Or doing a single album with 18-20 tracks No it's not. Everything isnt about money. We've only got one album so far and everyone has different favorite songs. It would be impossible to pick 18 songs from that much material and agree that they are the best 18 songs. When the 3 albums are out pick your favorite 18 and make a playlist. Simple. And if you don't want to buy all 3 albums download them illegally I'm sure the band don't give a shit.
Sarcasm Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Guns N' Roses killed their career with the Use Your Illusion albums. History suggests it is a FAR from safe plan. EDIT: Yay, my first ever page own. Just to change the tone y'know?!?! lol, like it wasn't on a downhill before UYI
abattlecry Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Can we all just agree that Stray Heart is fantastic and the trilogy is fantastic and stop feeding the trolls please? It seems like every time Green Day release something new it jumps all the way up my iTunes top 25 most played. I might have a problem, but not one I want to do anything about.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 "Instead of enjoying awesome new Green Day music, lets nit-pick and deconstruct the songs to find out how Green Day stole from other bands, and how they could write better music." --Unqualified jerks Alternatively "Instead of listening to a new song as I would by any other band and forming my own opinion on things I like and dislike about it, and my overall feeling about it, I'll just convince myself it's brilliant regardless of it's actual merits" --Blind fanboys It still irritates me that fanboys don't accept the complete opposite opinion, i.e people who hate a new song rather than love it. There's an entire spectrum from love to hate and everything in between. But some opinions are more valid than others because some people are more informed. And in this instance by "informed" I mean not just eating up whatever they release/blindly dismissing it because it's Green Day. Obviously people who dismiss music because it's by Green Day will not be found on here, but I just wanted to add that both extremes deserve equal levels of contempt.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Do me a favor. Manage a band. Go to the record label suits and ask them which they'd prefer you do: a single album with 10-15 songs, or three single albums back-to-back-to-back with 10+ songs on each. Consider the production and marketing costs of a SINGLE album, then multiply that by three, because you're not doing a single album. You're doing three. If the market is oversaturated and sales on the third album tank, you're fucked. Come back and tell me how that's less risky than releasing one album which, by itself, will be a hit regardless of quality because of the name on the record. The music industry is all about money nowadays. Labels are going to go with whatever earns the most net profit. We're talking 37 new songs here. That's two 21st CB's. A majority of these songs are a lot simplier than the ones on 21st CB and require less musicians to be hired to do extra instrumentations. The production quality of the albums is obviously a lot less underplayed than on 21st CB.Plus something tells me that Butch Vig is a more expensive producer than Rob.
Guest Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Ok guys, it's been fun and all, but this is a thread about Stray Heart. If anyone wants to continue discussions on stolen music, shitty albums, and poor management of a record label, please do so via PM. This goes for myself as well.

abattlecry Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 You know what's awesome? Green Day's new music! You know what's not? Arguing pointlessly with trolls. STOP IT
BillieJoeObsesser Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 It gives me chills how beautiful this song is!! Its awesome to finally here the studio version after hearing it a year ago live.
Tooooooooooooom Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 lol, like it wasn't on a downhill before UYI True but the point is, if there'd only been one UYI album, it would've been a great record. I was making the multiple-albums-don't-work point.
burnout409 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 On a brighter note i have listen to the song a lot this evening and i really like it not that i wasn't already but i am exited for DOS, although im still enjoying UNO so im not desperate for it yet, but its nice to hear something and get an idea what to expect (for those who haven't listened to all the secret show's etc yet) i have heard some of the songs from the albums already but not many and "Stray Heart" was one i hadn't hear at all
Whatsinaname Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I just listened to the song for the second time and started whistling at the end, as if I were at a concert Bravo!
WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 So everything bands do to make money is wrong? Uh, no I never said that I was simply backing up what I said. Please stop insuiating things. You know what's awesome? Green Day's new music! You know what's not? Arguing pointlessly with trolls. STOP IT Oh, so I'm a troll for having a conflicting opinion and defending my right to say it? Whatever happened to:
Guest Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Jesus fucking Christ enough of the "who's a troll" shit. Talk Stray Heart or gtfo.
1039SweetChildren Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Yay for another thread ruined by bitching. Anyway.. Excellent song!

I have to buy the entire albums, so I have to at least like the majority of the songs.

That's what I used to do
WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I don't have a computer, none of my family does. I just recently got robbed, so I don't exactly have the latest in advanced technology. I'm typing this all on a cheap metro phone, and damn is it annoying.
Guest Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 And while we all feel for you, this is not the thread for it. Please, please get back on Stray Heart and ffs stay there.

And you can make a playlist on your computer or burn the songs you like on to a CD. Ps Yeah Stray Heart is great

Khris Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I haven't been into the trilogy much cause of Uno but I'm stoked for Stray Heart, Nightlife, and Tre
