Ryan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 "I don't want to make my own opinion about the music I like. I saw some bad reviews and it put me in a bad mood. For that reason, Stray Heart isn't as good as it could be." Sounds logical! You may have misunderstood me, Andres. I couldn't care less about reviews. That comment was directed towards WrongWayToSalvation saying that Uno was their worst reviewed album. I just pointed out how the reviews towards it were pretty split. I was just talking about how much I love Uno and that, for me, Stray Heart feels flat compared to Uno. That being said, like Oh Love, I'm sure I will be head over heels for it once it's surrounded by the rest od Dos :-)

WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Why are you here if you're the kind that only likes old stuff? I don't get it. Every post is an argument against Green Day and the new music. They've so far made over 100 songs, some songs are gonna have certain similarities, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to listen to it. You're kind of ruining the fun of fangirling. I don't like just their "old stuff". I like when a band tries something new, which Green Day didn't do with iUno!.The album sounded too safe, too formulaic. Sure the guitars sounded different, but that was it. It was like they lowered their own standards or something. I'm sure that if iUno! was the only album that was going to be released people here wouldn't be raving so much about it. Which a lot probably would, simply because its Green Day.

WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The band had over 80 songs written for this trilogy. We're hearing 36 or 37. It wasn't because they ran out of material. They said bits and pieces of songs, not full ones. Bands are suppose to challenge themselves with each album, not play it safe, and iUno! is a very safe records.

It has taken over AI and 21st CB in my personal opinion. I just love absolutely everything about the sound and am amazed at how the entire album sounds so fun. It actually bother me when people compare it to Nimrod because that is my least favorite Green Day album ever.
Sarcasm Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 By slapping songs together to fill time and tracklistings. Why do you think there haven't been any B-sides yet? Of I don't know, because they're releasing what's worth releasing spread on 3 albums instead of one big one with leftovers on the singles? Why do you type like you can read the band like open books? "fill time and tracklistings"? yeah. I'm sure they wrote songs that you don't like to piss you off on purpose. Personally, I hate that there are songs I can't hear, like the rumors of the 1989 demo. 3 songs have never been recorded or played live. I don't get why you just can't embrace the albums or simply don't give a fuck. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you're just pissing people off on purpose by going against the stream. If you don't like it, do it better yourself or stop complaining. I don't like just their "old stuff". WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Because no one could possibly like simpler music by Green Day? If iUno! had been any simpler it would have just been Billie tapping on a table counter.

Not "bits and pieces"

Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 It's good but it's definitely based on Town Called Malice, I think every time I listen to it I expect the keyboard to come in. The bassline is basically the same and the drum pattern is the same, during the intro/verses. The chorus and solo are unsurprisingly the highlights then. Also this is becoming a common feature but it's yet another song where I think it goes on a chorus too many at the end. Nuclear Family only needed a 5-1 countdown instead of 10-1, Rusty James, Oh Love, Kill The DJ, even the songs I like on Uno go on too long at the end with no real need to repeat a chorus with no new ideas in it. I suppose if you were really cynical you could say that was filling time.
Ryan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I deleted my post. I totally misread what you wrote. My apologies No worries, just know that if you ever see my sn it's going to be something very positive about the band like 99% of the time. And when it's negative, it's strictly going to be based on personal opinion and I won't say it as if it's fact. Haha

Sometimes, the band will never win, some say try something new, others demand a Dookie II.
Sarcasm Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Releasing 3 albums in 4 months is not safe I like that they release a bunch of shit at once, it's gonna be great to listen to in 10 years, looking back at this, how exited we were. I wish they never wore finance-condoms.
porksoda Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 "Instead of enjoying awesome new Green Day music, lets nit-pick and deconstruct the songs to find out how Green Day stole from other bands, and how they could write better music." --Unqualified jerks

Your sole purpose in posting here seems to be to tell everyone that you hate the trilogy. And you continue to post in trilogy threads not to offer any new insight, but instead to continue saying that you hate the trilogy. I'm all for freedom of opinion and whatnot, but at some point, don't you get tired of hearing yourself talk?
WrongWayToSalvation Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Releasing 3 albums in 4 months is not safe Uh, if you actually think about it, it kind of is. More albums, so more sales equals more money. More singles equals more money. More of a chance to earn accolades, which spark more interest, which results in more sales, which results in more money. Now, doing a triple album would have been a lot more risky. Or doing a single album with 18-20 tracks

You know you're getting a lot of shit simply by disliking Green Day on GDC. So why do it? Do you wanna state your opinion that bad? You feel it's that important that everyone knows that you don't like something? Uh, if you actually think about it, it kind of is. More albums, so more sales equals more money. Just to change the tone y'know?!?!

Or doing a single album with 18-20 tracks Do me a favor. Manage a band. Go to the record label suits and ask them which they'd prefer you do: a single album with 10-15 songs, or three single albums back-to-back-to-back with 10+ songs on each. Consider the production and marketing costs of a SINGLE album, then multiply that by three, because you're not doing a single album. You're doing three. If the market is oversaturated and sales on the third album tank, you're fucked. Come back and tell me how that's less risky than releasing one album which, by itself, will be a hit regardless of quality because of the name on the record.
