every song is lifted directly from another song.

has nobody heard the jam song 'town called malice'?

btw- i don't mind. you have to learn to look past the obvious rip offs to enjoy any post- warning Green Day

To me this song is a mixture of Mother Marry and Viva La Gloria (Little Girl)

I don't see GD's newer stuff as being a rip-off of other bands. I think they were slapped with that reputation (and rightly so) with 21CB, where the vast majority of songs could either be identified from their companion AI number, or based upon which Who, Queen, whatever song they were largely pulled from.

With the trilogy songs, I see more of a "tip of the cap" to other songs than I do blatantly copying large parts of existing songs or their structure. Some do border on borrowing very heavily, yeah, but there's no "21st Century Breakdown" (the song) in this bunch that makes me go, "Jesus, how many times did they listen to Bohemian Rhapsody before writing this?".

There are so many songs that sound like other songs. It's gonna happen. Especially when you're dealing with punk rock. Trust me, I hear it with more bands than just Green Day. However, I think with the trilogy, people are just grasping at straws trying to pin plagiarism on Green Day for whatever reason.

People always say that every band has ripped off certain songs. Just Google '*Band Name Here* Ripped Off' for any band and you'll get results. Usually it's just coincidence or the similarity is really, really minor and people just blow it out of proportion by saying it sounds exactly the same.

Of course there are some exceptions such as the Rogue Traders who literally just grab other singers and bands songs and dub their voices over it.

I have heard it, and I don't think it's that similar aside from the way the bass is strummed at the start.

I play bass, and you're right, it's nothing alike.

But you can bet your brass bean that every uneducated Green Day hater out there is going to big up the fact that "It's a complete rip-off of the Jam".

I love this song, but I still think that everything on Uno (with the exception of Kill the DJ) is much better. Billie's voice sounds FUCKING AMAZING on this song though, but I think it lacks the punch and "cool factor" that all the songs on Uno have.

"Perfect picture of bad health/Another notch scratched on my belt/The future just ain't what it used to be" -Uptight

"And you will always be my/Well you'll always be my/ You will always be my sweet sixteen"-Sweet 16

"Suffocate, suffocate, suffocate"-Suffocate

"Celebrate, celebrate celebrate" -Carpe Diem

"Your long lost son"-21st CB

"A battle cry"-Carpe Diem

"Raise your glass and toast your friends"-Rusty James

"Leaving myself open wide"-Scattered

Stray Heart bass riff sounds like Mother Mary and Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet.

Makeout Party riff sounds like I Wannabe Alone.

99 Revolutions' verses sound like Ha Ha You're Dead.

Intro to Troublemaker sounds exactly like the intro to Fuck Time.

The guitars during the chorus of Troublemaker sound like the main riff to Fuck Time.

There are numerous similarities in a great portion of these songs in fact.

I can safely say I never get this from any other bands/artists that I listen to.

I didn't even buy iUno!...and I probably never will.

I got Food and Liquor 2 by Lupe Fiasco instead, and I don't regret a thing.

Their worst reviewed album yet, just as I predicted. Still think it would have been better to release one very strong album with the best songs scattered throughout the trilogy. It could have been Green Day's best album yet.

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but you're really grasping for a lot of those. The only one I can 100% agree on - in that it sounds 100% like another song - is Suffocate/Carpe Diem. But when you play an instrument, and are a song writer, there are things that get stuck in your subconscious and you don't realize it. You write a melody and forget about it and it resurfaces later when you write another song. Same goes for riffs. You write a cool riff, you're practicing it one day, and it develops into another cool variation. It happens to my friends and I all the time. Like I said, it's unavoidable.

If you want to go down this path, let me point out all of the riffs and songs that Led Zeppelin stole. Otherwise, just stop.

The thing with Uno is that it was mostly either raved about or trashed. It got several 4 and 4.5 star reviews, but also plenty of 1-2s. I've been a fan since '94 and personally believe that Uno is the best album they have ever released. There isn't a single song that I would skip and I absolutely love everything about that album.

Perhaps that's why it is a bit difficult for me to get into Stray Heart right now. I have always loved it since the first time I heard it, but I'm kinda stuck in Uno mode right now and Stray Heart won't pull me out of it. I'm sure that I will like it a lot more when it's placed into the entirety of Dos.

Why are you here if you're the kind that only likes old stuff? I don't get it. Every post is an argument against Green Day and the new music. They've so far made over 100 songs, some songs are gonna have certain similarities, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to listen to it. You're kind of ruining the fun of fangirling.

By slapping songs together to fill time and tracklistings.

Why do you think there haven't been any B-sides yet?

The band had over 80 songs written for this trilogy. We're hearing 36 or 37. It wasn't because they ran out of material.
