or maybe he just doesnt like him? jesus you talk like the persons being racist or something...

No, its just that he's a pop star, and I always find it funny that people could like a band like Green Day, but dislike pop artists considering Green Day is as pop as they come. They win pop awards, go to pop festivals, and write music that's easy to listen to. Bruno probably has more range then most of the artists that are on those CDs, but some people may not acknowledge it simply because he's a "pop star".

Shock horror, some teens want to be "anti-conformist" so they end up conforming to something else.

There are some talented artists in even the highest selling pop just now (Gaga, Adele, Florence, Calvin Harris, Coldplay etc) and some who have talented people giving them great songs (Rihanna, at least up until the terrible one she has out just now) But he's not one of them, his songs are dull, formulaic and have been done a million times.

have you listened to the radio recently? Green day are not "as pop as they come". I would give that title to one of the many manufactured pretty boys or girls that are featured so heavily on the airwaves.

Why Bruno Mars? Because he isn't rock? He's a great singer and extremelly talented.

Twilight soundtracks always manage to do well, so it should be good publicity.

As my personal opinion, i dont like that guy, but still the soundtracks are awesome

I'm aware that some people do have and express genre-bias, but unless someone makes an obviously biased statement, you shouldn't assume that is the reason for someone's dislike of a particular artist.

Green Day are a popular band and they do have pop elements to their sound and promotion, but that doesn't mean that everyone who likes Green Day should also like every single pop artist on the radio, nor should they have to like every rock artist or punk artist or alternative or whatever. Taste is more complicated than that.

I think this is where the 23rd of October release date rumor came from http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/earshot/breaking-dawn-soundtrack-green-day-377281

Regarding this info, the article says that Atlantic Records put out a press release announcing the single as being released on Oct. 23. Atlantic Records is a subsidiary of--wait for it--Warner Music Group. So, anything that is coming from them *is* coming from Warner.

That said, I did a quick google search to find the actual, full press release, and while it does mention "The Forgotten" as the lead single and that the soundtrack is available for pre-order on Oct. 23rd, it doesn't specifically mention the single as being released the same day:

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Oct 8, 2012) - Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® company, Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records have officially announced the release of "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2 - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK," the musical companion to the highly anticipated final chapter in Summit's worldwide blockbuster film franchise. The soundtrack -- which was first revealed via Yahoo! -- arrives in stores and at all digital retailers on Tuesday, November 13th; the film release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2 comes to theatres nationwide on Friday, November 16th.

Pre-orders for "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2 - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" will begin on Tuesday, October 23rd.

In addition to the soundtrack's electrifying lead single "The Forgotten," by Reprise recording group Green Day, "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2 - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" features new and exclusive material from an intriguing and irresistible line-up of artists

Yeah, but subsidiaries act differently in their business processes so the way Reprise runs their promotion and the way Atlantic does is completely different, even though they are both under Warner.

Chop Shop is actually an independent Atlantic just distributes in the U.S. and Atlantic main offices is done in New York where as Reprise and GDs side is done in L.A. area. I know from experience cali's office very rarely work with the NY office unless they have to.

Picking singles for Twilight or releasing anything from it would be Chop Shop doing not the distributor's

But the point is it's still official news :P I know that the promotion aspect is completely unrelated; I just thought it was weird that some people were acting liek the news was less legit because it "didn't come from Warner".

Well I think part of it is wasted talent. I sometimes feel the same way about green day. They could definitely do a lot more experimental interesting work than they currently do and mars is even more limited. His music varies even less so is he a good singer I think so but a good artist I don't think so.

Oh gotcha.. Yeah I agree. A press release is as official as it gets.

Genre debates rarely go anywhere and are useless in general. There's good popular music, and then there's bad. When people refer to "pop" in a derogatory way they are talking about manufactured fake-sounding made-for-top40 stuff. The major label bands that seem to come out of nowhere and are all of a sudden on top of the charts with music that sounds like whatever the current flavor of the month is.

There's plenty of cookie-cutter garbage coming out of the less mainstream genres as well.

Based on the real press release that was dug up, it's not coming out tomorrow.

Radio has it or should have it by tomorrow...

Billie recycled the lyrics "broken home" and "child left behind" from American Idiot. Come on, that's two AI lyrics in the same song! That kinda pisses me off.
