But not the full Song

No it should be the full song...it's the only narraration for the episode. It just won't be available to buy until the single release on Tuesday.

But still! Why couldn't Green Day just take example from MCR and disagree!

I really wish people would stop bringing MCR into this discussion. Any "statement" they were trying to make by not putting a song on the Twilight soundtrack (which, ftr, they were never officially offered. Someone on MTV just asked them once if they would *consider* doing it, *hypothetically*) was completely nullified when they licensed out "SING" to Glee and American Idol. :P

I like how this whole thread is a anti twilight thread. Well actually I hate that. Go hate somewhere else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but hating Twilight is getting so fucking repetitive.

Dude, We get it. You love Twilight. Getting your ass in an uproar ever ytime someone mentions it in a negative context isn't going to change anyone's mind. Now go run off with Stephanie Meyer already :P

quoting this 8 day old quote achieves what? and no, if I wanna defend something everyone hates, I'll power on with it as much as I'd like.

I don't blindly hate artists or hate things because other people do. I create my own opinions, while a lot of other people just go with other opinions. That's obviously gonna make me have a different opinion. And this is coming from someone who isn't a fan of those bands, so obviously if you're a fan of those bands clearly you'll say different. In the case of Linkin Park, complexity shouldn't be strived for, complexity is chaotic chaos, while when people try to be complex it becomes controlled chaos. Its streamlined, there's no sense of discovery. This is my experince from listening to a wide variety of music from a lot of different genres.

Paramore is as much pop punk as you can possibly can get. Trying to act and look all hardcore, when you're as far from it has Maroon 5. Muse does have striking similarities to Radiohead, even with their musical evolution. Every time a Muse song comes on the radio my dad always says "Check it out. They're playing Radiohead for once", but its Muse. That happens every single time.

or you could have the same opinion - Having a different opinion just because it's different isn't being original, it's being contrary.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of paramore, but I think Muse is great, and I don't really care that they're heavily influenced by Raidiohead, because Radiohead is really great too.

But you're not actually defending it, you're just giving other people shit for not liking it, which ultimately causes more tensions and only serves to piss people off.

To give you a better idea of how I feel on the subject, I noticed Matt suggesting somewhere over the last couple of pages that people shift the discussion to the Twilight thread, and I happen to disagree with that suggestion wholeheartedly. Why? Because, unless there is a separate thread for Twilight Haters, then it's a good chance that any generic Twilight thread was created by fans of the series to discuss the books and/or movies with other fans. So, directing a bunch of very disgruntled forum users to such a place to dump their bile is not cool. I would never even consider going on a thread for a book, movie, TV show, or band that I dislike (and especially not for one that I passionately despise) just to shit on it because that is just douchey behavior to me. Everyone who is a fan of anything should be able to have a place where they can express those feelings without fear of being dumped on.

Outside of a designated Twilight thread, though, *all* opinions should be fair game. So getting pissed off at people for hating on it and telling them to "go somewhere else" is just childish. Where else can they go? Would you rather them go off-topic on some other thread where discussion of the series is entirely irrelevant? Or invade the Twilight thread so that fans of the series lose what could have been a safe haven?

Since I doubt you would actually be happy with either of those outcomes, it seems to me that what you are actually saying to people is that they shouldn't express their opinions at all, unless they're saying that they love it. And that's bullcrap. Not to mention, it completely diminishes all of your grandstanding about subjectivity, since you are not only telling people off for expressing the opposing viewpoint, but openly accusing said people of being "trendy" rather than holding legitimate opinions. If you really, truly believed that "everything is subjective", you would be accepting of the fact that not everyone likes Twilight and that many of those people have real reasons for not liking it and leave it at that.

As far as the people who have mentioned the films and/or novels being objectively bad, this is the same as people who say that Billie Joe is not an excellent guitarist. Personally, I hold Billie Joe as one of my favorite guitarists and vocalists and songwriters. BUT, from a purely technical viewpoint, I can take a step back and recognize that there are vocalists and guitarists who are more technically proficient than he is. The same can be said of Meyer, as a writer. Objectively speaking, there are way better authors and way better books, but that doesn't mean some people can't still enjoy her work on other levels for other reasons. I have many friends who enjoy it, despite acknowledging that the writing isn't great, and they don't give me a hard time for not liking it because they understand why I don't, just like I would never give them a hard time for not thinking Green Day is the greatest band on earth, even though I love them.

I'm sure that most people that don't like twighlight don't like it for the movies. Most often, people accidently see the movie when flipping through tv channels, or its on at a friends house, or their sister always watches it, and I can see how the movie can be considered corny. But it's a lot harder to accidently read a book. And everyone can agree that movies are never better than the books. I have seen some parts of the twilight movie, but i've never read the book. Twilight's not for me, but I don't hate it

I've read all three books and seen all the movies. The first book was okay, and I really liked how Meyer correlated it to Romeo & Juliet. The overly dramatic teenage drama annoyed me, but that was exactly the point, and she did a good job of making it realistic. The second book was total shit and I freaking hated Bella. It was correlated to Wuthering Heights, so all of the characters were unsympathetic and hard to stomach, making it hard to root for any of them. And Bella was the most self-involved, spineless character I've ever read. Breaking Dawn, however, was actually really good, in my opinion. It was the only novel where Meyer kind of went out on her own, there was a lot of action, and the characters finally were people I could actually give a shit about.

The movies? They are total shit, even for adaptations from books. Overly dramatic to the point of being like soap operas, under-developed plots, bad acting and even worse dialogue. Honestly, the only good dialogue was the dialogue they lifted from the actual books.

Having said that, this is a hugely popular movie/book franchise, so putting Green Day's song in it was a smart marketing move, even if there's nothing unique or impressive in it.

The CSI:NY episode, on the other hand, where they're featuring five Green Day songs to play over no-dialogue action sequences was fucking brilliant. I mean, this one marketing move is a total stroke of genius that hasn't been done before and gives the music and Green Day the respect they've earned and deserve.

All of this is true, except there are four books.

Ha! You're right. I combined the last two because of the storyline. It's been a few years.:)

I actually think the books are pretty bad, but the films are alright, nothing special, but entertaining at least. I think that part of the reason so many people seem to think Kirsten Stewart (no idea if I spelled that right) is a bad actress is down to the character she plays. In the books, Bella is quiet, shy, inward and extremely awkward (not to mention spineless as melissawebster said), and as such comes across as a lame actress, but I think she actually portrays her character fairly well. I haven't seen any of her other films, perhaps someone who has could enlighten me on the quality of her acting in those. But I'd say it's unfair to brand her as a bad actress based purely on the twilight films.

It's alright, I keep forgetting too.

I read these books in middle school. I thought they were great then, but the story seems increasingly childish the older I get, which makes me think Twilight is a series of romance novels marketed to pre-teens which is just - skeevy. I mean, the books are fine. They're not great works of literature, but they could be slightly entertaining. But really, I don't understand the obsession. Nothing about these books is special. If you want to be entertained by a young girl falling in love with a vampire, watch Buffy. Much more substance. (also, James Marsters. )
