Heather. Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Honestly without having any idea what this song is going to sound like, I think it's going to be the most successful song from the entire trilogy, due to it's affiliation with the media juggernaut that is twilight It's logistically probable. The only things we've heard about this song that I remember from early interviews is that it's 1. a piano ballad (a la 21 Guns) and 2. one of the lines is "Don't turn away from the arms of love"... sounds pretty mainstream friendly to me, and its presence and push by the Twilight franchise is a huge confirmation that many people feel it will have major popular appeal.
Bastard of 1967 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Sad but true irony: I trust the Twilight marketing department with Green Day's career. I'm sorry to say I have to agree with you on this one. Now 'scuse me while I turn my back to the audience and hurl.
spacesauce Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Gross, puke, Twilight, vomit face, and overrated vampires. Okay, now that I have that out of my system....I do think this could be a game changer for the trilogy. This is the best promotion they could ask for right now since they aren't performing yet. And since it's the LEAD SINGLE of a ridiculously mainstream movie, this song will be everywhere. I'm thrilled to hear this song, though it does spoil the trilogy if it is going to be the finale.
Pieces of Truth Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm sorry to say I have to agree with you on this one. Now 'scuse me while I turn my back to the audience and hurl. Hahaha nice Bieber reference
AlexGulyan Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I foresee The Forgotten doing very well on the radio and on iTunes charts. I'm so ready for their first big hit since 21 Guns! I want The Forgotten to be a chart-topping, millions-selling crazy epic single that everyone loves and earns them awards. And from there, I want people to learn/remember how perfect Green Day is, and go buy each album of the trilogy. And their older albums too while they're at it. I think this may be the best marketing move they've made since...... I don't even know when. Ever. From a purely business standpoint, this is a great move. I mean, like it or not, Twilight is huge, and this should certainly help Green Day in terms of radio airplay and single/album sales. Win! I really love what you just said and I completely agree. I'm hoping this song is a huge hit that gives them the attention and recognition they deserve for this trilogy. My only reservation is that I was hoping to wait to listen the The Forgotten till TRE was released, because it is the final song of the whole trilogy and I want to listen to it in that special context.........Good luck to me trying to avoid the song till then!

Just like all the Twilight fans will support the song (most likely), the haters surely won't, it might be a good marketing strategy hit-wise, but it might also be a backslash image-wise. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Marrymebilliejoe Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I think it's kinda silly that people will judge a song/artist because of the movie/show it's in..I don't hear a whole lot of people complaining about Green Day being on CSI!? And like everyone else has been saying..the song will get lots of attention! And nothing wrong with that;)
Sarcasm Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I like how this whole thread is a anti twilight thread. Well actually I hate that. Go hate somewhere else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but hating Twilight is getting so fucking repetitive.
Annie, get your gun Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Can't wait 'til November 16th! Movie + Green Day song = super awesome! And I don't care if I have to wait 'til the end of the credits, they won't move me from my seat :angry

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but hating Twilight is getting so fucking repetitive. Who would have thought the band being featured on a film franchise's soundtrack would lead to people giving their opinions on the film franchise itself? And since Twilight is objectively awful, most people will say they hate it.

abattlecry Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Awefulness is subjective. I like twilight, books and movies. ... Your man card. I'm revoking it. I kid, I kid. But seriously, while I have no problem with this marketing strategy, Twilight irks me.

I don't give a shit what people think about my manhood, I have a problem with blind shit throwing over a movie that's so easy to dislike it's been turned into a fucking trend.

Ever think of why its so easy to dislike? The acting is laughably bad, the plot is terrible, and it is marketted to 12 year old girls. I dont dislike it because its trendy i dislike it because they are bad movies.

I don't give a shit that it's trendy to hate Twilight. In fact, I don't really hate it. It's just bad. Before you say anything, I read all the books, and I've seen all the movies (after the first one, for free online, of course). The lead actress can't act, and the lead actor shows such a hilarious hatred for the plot that I've actually come to respect him as a person. I could go on about how awful a message the story send to young impressionable girls, but it's already been said, because, as you pointed out, it is 'trendy' to dislike these movies.
Nuclear Family Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Twilight wouldn't be around if you guys would just stop giving it so much attention all the time, jeez.
Sarcasm Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Twilight wouldn't be around if you guys would just stop giving it so much attention all the time, jeez. I'm glad it's around, but I seem to be a loner there. I've never noticed any bad acting. The dude who plays Jasper isn't magnificent, but that's all. You can say t's bad all you want, I'll still like it.
Sanity Loan Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Ok, I think we have a Twilight thread somewhere else on the forum. If you'd like to bitch about it, please do it there. Leave this thread to only talk about "The Forgotten" being included on the soundtrack.
Ben773 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Not into the movies really.. but I am a greedy green day guzzler. So I can't wait for the track
GreenDayisAmazing Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 ew, oh well. the twilight soundtracks usually have good bands on them surprisingly True Muse and Paramore and a couple others are awesome!
Annie, get your gun Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I actually watched Twilight on the first place because Paramore had 2 songs in the soundtrack. Now Green Day It's great.
Brother Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 This is awesome. I actually don't mind the movies. The plot is pretty good. I don't get why some people are mad. It's just a movie. If you don't like it, don't see it. Here's to The Forgotten being one of the best green day songs of all time!
BradGreenDay Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 When i heard that this was the lead single... i was like :runaround: :runaround: :runaround: :runaround: :runaround: :runaround:
Heather. Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I just want to point out that 3/4 previous Twilight soundtracks have debuted at #1, #2, #4 etc. on the US Billboard charts. So the fact that Green Day has the lead single off of something that will in all likelihood outsell (or match) Uno in its first week is enormous for the band.
