Heather. Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 You have to market to youth. They control the industry. I don't see a problem with it. Green Day has always been a band for young people, and just because some of the fans and the band are older doesn't mean they want to spend the rest of their careers playing to the aging crowd. The only way to attract new fans is to attract young people who've never heard of Green Day. Most of the adults out there have already made up their minds one way or the other if they like the band or not.
gerardsangel4977 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I mean seriously, it's not even like the Campaign, you don't have to watch the film at all. Just go buy/download the soundtrack and listen to the song. Jeez. I plan on letting someone else who actually like Twilight buy it for me and then uploading it to youtube so I can listen
Dori_Epiphone Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Is there a release date for the Twilight Soundtrack?!
WhiteTim Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Is there a release date for the Twilight Soundtrack?! Same day as ¡Dos!
Sleeper Agent. Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Same day as ¡Dos! Dos > Twilight Soundtrack, Dos is probably cheaper too
WhiteTim Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Dos > Twilight Soundtrack, Dos is probably cheaper too They'll most likely be same price first week But yeah Dos and Aaron Lewis The Road be the only 2 cds i buy Nov 13th
melissawebster Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Okay. I'm done. There are a lot of things I do not want to say publicly on this forum about the marketing and therefore cannot respond to some of the things you all are saying, so we're just going in circles here. I haven't asked anyone to agree with my position or even acknowledge it, because I respect the difference in opinion and don't particularly like ass-kissers who circumvent their own opinions to make peace with someone else's, and I'm not exactly sure why you expect me to agree with you or acknowledge yours. I respond to the ones that interest me or I feel I can respond to just like everybody else on this forum does. I've enjoyed the debate and can't wait to hear the song, though I'll wait for the album instead of watching the movie.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I've enjoyed both sides, both melissawebster and gerardsangel seem to be putting across points that I agree with. One thing I've taken away from this is that the Walmart clean versions are way more damaging than them appearing on a soundtrack that loads of great bands have not only appeared on, but written new songs specifically for.
beejeezee Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I hate that it has to be Twilight, as I have a distinct hatred for the series. But promotion is promotion.
songofthecenturyx Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Why are people saying Uno isn't doing well? It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. That means it was the #2 best selling album for the week. That's a huge accomplishment for any artist, especially a ROCK band. Is there something I'm missing?

I agree, I'm really proud of them for still being a huge rock band in a world full of pop artists and Indie bands.
Holly Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I can't get my head around why people care. They're a popular, mainstream band with millions of fans who make amazing music, of course they're gonna be in popular, mainstream (albeit not amazing) films. The more people who get to hear and enjoy their music, the better. The ridiculous amount of Twilight bashing does my head in, it's far worse than the Twilight obsessed fans. Yeah, the films are shit, the acting is terrible, just don't watch it.

sampy Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I think it's gonna be TOP10-single on the charts, just because it's on Twilight soundtrack.

I was thinking that. Of those, I've heard Decode and the ones by Muse. But I don't want to hear the final song of the trilogy now! Obviously it will be different after listening to the whole album (like Oh Love) but still...
