Milo Goes To Pasalacqua Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Well i can't say i am riveted. It's a little embarrasing. But on second thoughts, the soundtracks always seem to be great overall despite the shitty movies. I have the New Moon soundtrack, it's got loadsa cool indie-ish stuff. And hey, Green Day is Green Day. I probably won't be watching the movie but i can download the track, i'm sure it's not gonna be bad.
.Holly Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Sorry for not keeping up, but I had no idea "The forgotten" was even supposed to be a song on iTRE! I don't really care tbh, the Twilight soundtracks have been pretty good so far, now this one will be even better. I actually quite like the films. They're good as films, the special effects are particuarly good, but the books are rubbish. It split the fandom in half. You have the elitist fans vs. the new fans that along after the first time they heard Supermassive Black Hole on the soundtrack. It got everyone into super ugly debates about who was a better fan, which I realize happens anyway on forums etc., but not quite on the same scale. It got to the point where anyone who admitted they liked Supermassive Black Hole was accused of being an awful fan because everyone assumed they heard about it through Twilight. It happened every time they were on one of the soundtracks. The same thing happened with Neutron Star Collision. I think Twilight is shitty, and I'm not a fan of what it's done to Muse's fan base. It was so fun going on the forums before they were involved with those movies, but since then it's gotten pretty hostile at times. I don't want the same thing to happen anywhere else. I had no idea all that had gone on Seems pretty silly. Does it matter how you found the music when at the end of the day, you LIKE it? Jeez. I'm a big muse fan too, have been since 2005. But does that make me better than people that found them through twilight? Of course not. I think it's totally daft...
joeysturkeyhead Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Okay, I hate Twilight with all my heart but so what if a Green Day's song is in that movie, it's not the end of the world, it's just a movie and doesn't affect any of us in any way.
WestboundSign! Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I'm not a fan of the movies or anything, but I think some songs on the soundtracks are quite good and carefully selected. I'm okay with it.. I mean, it could be a lot worse and we'll get a new song. I won't complain.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I'm a big muse fan too, have been since 2005. But does that make me better than people that found them through twilight? Of course not. I think it's totally daft... Of course it does! They watched Twilight.
gerardsangel4977 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Liked purely for the pretty Misha Collins GIF On the bright side, March Madness will be insanely easy to win next year... I actually got a good giggle out of this wow, i've officially given up on this band, they'll do anything for the money/to promote their records. thought they were better than this tbh :/ Seriously? That's going a bit far, don't you think? As much as I actively despise Twilight, even I can see that, as far as the commercial aspect is concerned, putting a song in Twilight is no more or less evil than allowing a song to be used in any other film or TV show. Everyone has to pay the same royalty fee. Besides, it's not as if your favorite band is any better in that department Billie says they "aren't fucking Justin Beiber!" and now they do this? To my knowledge, Justin Bieber has yet to contribute to a Twilight soundtrack, but I could be wrong....In all honesty, I think anyone who says something like this clearly doesn't have any knowledge of the kind of music that's normally on these soundtracks. And, to speak further on the subject of demographics, Green Day have appealed to some portion of teenage girls for their entire existence, and they've always been made fun of for it...Yet, somehow, people still throw hissy fits when they associate with something that appeals to that demographic. What makes Green Day different isn't that they *don't* appeal to tweens (because that would be a silly thing to assert) but that they appeal to vast other demos as well. And I don't see them losing a good chunk of their core fanbase over something this trivial, so it shouldn't really matter, in the long run. Oh, and, btw, "21 Guns" was used in an episode of the Vampire Diaries during the promotion of 21CB. Not quite as bad as Twilight in terms of watchability, but exact same genre/demographic from a promotional angle. It split the fandom in half. You have the elitist fans vs. the new fans that along after the first time they heard Supermassive Black Hole on the soundtrack. It got everyone into super ugly debates about who was a better fan, which I realize happens anyway on forums etc., but not quite on the same scale. Yeah....because it's not like the scenario you just described has ever happened to the Green Day fanbase before....like 5 times over. P.S. Before everyone runs out to see this movie just for the song, not every song on the soundtrack is necessarily included in the film.
blitzkriegdeb Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I thought the whole "hating Twilight" bandwagon died out after the 1st movie. Not saying that people can't hate it, but I don't why people are making such a big deal out of this because it's Twilight.
sampy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 When they licensed 99 Revolutions for The Campaign, the band (or Warner) made hundreds of thousands of dollars with it. Because now it's Twilight, way bigger film than The Campaign, they're gonna make shit-loads of money. And if it's gonna be even a single, it'll be freaking huge boost for Tré's album sales. Still I think it's lame to have a song in Twilight, really, that's just lame, but nowadays it's the money what rules and big fat ass bosses on Warner.
Tubbie Head Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 That's just a cheap move, Warner. This song isn't even on the albums right? Oh, it's on TRE, then that's alright, I guess... I just wouldn't want them to make a song specially for the movie xD I just hope they don't make a video like the one Muse did
iRun Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 As long as the song is good, I don't mind. Hopefully this won't turn into what happened with Muse and their fans.
.Holly Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Of course it does! They watched Twilight. It's just a film. I actually think that as a film, it's quite good. They're very action packed and full of great special effects. Anyway, with regards to the muse issue. The author has said that muse are a massive inspiration and part of her life (probably how most of us feel about GD), so of course Twilight fans are quite likely to get into muse. It's just stupid. Supermassive Blackhole came out on the album 2 years before the twilight films came out.
darenmay Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 the previous 260 replies made me wonder why.. ok then it was Angry Birds, now it's Twilight. anyway, i've come to know/like some artists by listening to the twilight soundtracks, that i did.
Jax Teller Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I will not watch the movie and of course will not listen to the song before the release of TRE. (Twilight sucks but...people calm down,it's just a promotion)
SmidtsPie° Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I don't really know what to say. I'm not overly fond of it, but on the other hand i don't care. I just don't hope it'll bring that huge bunch of "fans who only like that particularly song" ish. And then we'll see if they regret it like Muse did. I just don't wanna hear the song before it comes out..
gloria123 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 i don't really care either way...i just see the movies to mock them if it's a good song i'll be happy!
Pieces of Truth Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Oh... and actually it's my guilty pleasure to watch these films with a certain friend of mine to laugh our asses off and make fun of it. Yes, we actually paid money to see it. The second one was the most hilarious.
TheSoundGuy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Does any one else but me think this could be the worst idea Green Days PA department has ever had! Come on!, there a punk band, there not here to play for some main stream vampire movie. This will be really bad they will get a lot of a realt bad reputation with people who are long time fans like me, this is nothing like what Green Day has done in the past. and it might not be good. D:
Hermione Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I don't really know what to say. I'm not overly fond of it, but on the other hand i don't care. I just don't wanna hear the song before it comes out.. What's wrong with fans who only like a particular song though? There's lots of bands and artists that I only like one or two songs by. Just enjoy Green Day's music, which other people enjoy it or why they enjoy it or how much of it they enjoy doesn't matter. Good for anyone who gets any enjoyment out of any of their music, and who knows maybe some of them will check out more of it and become big fans. I've been a Muse fan for over 10 years and their song being in a film that I'll never watch didn't affect my life or my enjoyment of the band in any way. The same will apply with Green Day.
cj_unoxx Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Couldn't agree more. There are some kickass bands, and kickass songs that many people would not have been exposed to if it were not for movie sountracks, and in particular Twilight. Muse, of course, being one of them. Supermassive Black Hole was repeating in everyone's mind after Twilight and people wanted to know who the hell sang that song. Movie soundtracks don't make a band, a band makes the movie soundtrack. I, for one, can't wait. I agree I mean it's like turning down having your song in a superhero movie, everyone's gonna see it so why wouldn't you want your song to be heard? And how come every one that is getting mad over this never got mad for 21 Guns being in Transformers? It's a movie and it was on the soundtrack and this is the same thing except that its Twilight and I know we all hate twilight and I do to but it's only on the soundtrack and Mike said so himself that the only reason why is because he always found those soundtracks very well arranged At first I couldn't wait but now I don't want to ruin the finale of the trilogy :/

D: Yeah they've never had their songs in mainstream movies or vampire related things before. Oh wait....they've had songs in American Pie 2, Transformers 2, The Hills and The Vampire Diaries. Judge the band on their music, the fact they have a song in one more crappy film is unimportant.
Harinezumi Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Green Day's potential album buyers play Angry Birds and watch Twilight? Are. you. fucking. kidding. me? They clearly chose them based on popularity. They could have chosen a different genre at least. Or even better, they could have chosen something cool...
Stuart&Ave Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I don't care about the song being in the Twilight movie. I think it's a good marketing move to promote the albums and I don't understand why it seems like the worst thing it could happen to a Green Day song for some fans. Anyway, I won't see the movie simply because I don't like Twilight (I've seen 2 movies and read the first book, it's just that I'd rather read anything written by Anne Rice for a good vampire story than something written by Stephenie Meyer).

Like how Walk by the Foo Fighters was in and at the end of Thor, that was really cool I would've like to see a new Green Day song in Iron Man 3, same popularity as Twilight if not more ya know?

I know right... even Take That had a song in an X-Men movie...
