KGLWW Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I think why do you want him and the one that I want are extremely underrated solos. The best of pre-kerplunk songs is only of you. Judges Daughter is solid and fun but I think only of you rocks just a little more. One for the Razorbacks does so much for that song, without it, it's kind of a boring song. Also best solo from kerplunk by far. For the trilogy, I think everything from uno has great solos, its just that some of the songs are kinda bad. All of Dos is pretty good. With tre, the style and sound doesn't fit in with the rest of trilogy but I do like the fills on 99 Revolutions and 8th Avenue Serenade. Solo on DRB is pretty good as well.
musso_kn Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I'm quite disappointed that no one has mentioned the Green Day solo. Or the Waiting solo for that matter. Neither is particularly long or complicated, but both have a lot of 'character'.
Guest Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Dude, I respect your opinion because I think you are one of the most awesome members on here, but saying a solo in Stay The Night is one of the best solo's ever is kindaaa... uhm weird to say the least I said most epic, not best The way he segues straight into the hey oh's is just spine chilling. Technically it's rubbish, but not in terms of simplistic genius.

Kerplunk!!! Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hmm. Dry Ice or the Judges Daughter. Also can't see why Billie would have had a problem with playing the Dry Ice solo, seeing as how he jams Eruption in front of 20 thousand people. It's certainly not an advanced guitar solo when you compare it to the greats like Eddie Van Halen and Kirk Hammet, or even to someone like Ryan Peake and Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. Oh, btw, just to point out what I'm saying here, the guitar solos are just as effective, they just aren't actually difficult. They have more effective solos than bands like Nickelback do, although they really aren't hard at all. Probably their easiest solo is in Holiday and that'd be a runner up. Holiday, Know Your Enemy, East Jesus Nowhere, Jesus of Suburbia, September Ends, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, When I Come Around... some of their best, in terms of how they fit with the song, and they're all pretty simple. My Generation isn't a Green Day song. Are you a bad fan or just being a smart dick because it's a cover? Don't remember hearing the solo Billie rips out at the end in The Who's version... I'm quite disappointed that no one has mentioned the Green Day solo. Or the Waiting solo for that matter. Neither is particularly long or complicated, but both have a lot of 'character'. Not sure Green Day actually has a solo? Just sounds like an octave riff similar to the end of 1000 hours..

Are we talking about the same thing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z12ryN6A9oU 2:18 to 2:40. It doesn't really sound like the end of 1000 hours to me, tbh.
Jack [DF] Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 The Judge's Daughter. It's melodic, but still a bluesy rock-n-roll solo worthy of the greats. It's got a youthful swagger to it that latter-period Green Day is severely lacking in.

Same thing, I guess it is the solo part of the song just different to most of the others on that album cos he's playing chords rather than notes (same kinda chords for the end of 1000 hours).

Don't remember hearing the solo Billie rips out at the end in The Who's version... A bad fan because I've never listened to the Who's version in it's entirety? A smart dick for pointing out that it's not a Green Day's song? Sorry, if he wrote the solo at the end, then that's great. Cool story. Some of Bilie's best lyrics, on the other hand, must be in Like a Rolling Stone.

Flyingdonutz Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 You're a fucking idiot. Lol, PS, chill out man, I was kidding. You've no place on the internet if you can't take a joke, and you're certainly not better than anyone else here because you insulted me.
bagelfeet Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I adore the Kill The DJ solo because it just sounds so cool
brat-39 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 For me it's "Wow! That's Loud". It starts out nice and simple and then just tears into badassedness. That combined withe the new fresh sound of the trilogy makes it my favorite solo.
