July21 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 i remember a similar topic on GDC where we were talking about songs that have never been played live. but can't find it the only thing i still know is that Deadbeat Holiday has never been played live..
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 It's a travesty they've not played Having A Blast in the last 10 years. It's probably my favourite on Dookie. Perfect to listen to whenever you're angry. They seem to have picked Burnout and sometimes Coming Clean as the "Dookie album track" rarities though. If I could request them to play any song it would probably be this one.
PeaceMucker Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Having a Blast is one of the first songs you are required to play for someone who has never heard Green Day before.
alecandstuff Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I've felt inclined to chant for Panic Song to be played ever since I found out they've never played it before :b

It has been played live once, according to setlist.fm, everyone should check there first before coming here, but be careful, cause some setlists are fake.
lbw87 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 i dunno why but this thread isn't loading right for me so i cant see those youtube videos but having a blast was played at Silver Dollar Club, Phoenix, AZ 1/3/1993 i have a bootleg of that
maul_day Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 The only live version of Having a Blast i've found is from '93... i will die for a recent live version since it's my favorite Dookie song she and coming clean and fuck off and die, and a few times pulling teeth and all by myself they played panic song (instrumental) between brain stew and jaded in a few gigs... They used to play Chump as well, they even still playing it from time to time Sadly, i've never heard about Emenius Sleepus or In The End being played live either, at least not recently... Would have been awesome to hear Dookie in its entirety this year at Reading as Billie said
blueboy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I have two live versions and three demos. That's a fair amount. And is there a video/audio of the soundcheck? I'd love to hear those! I remember a poor quality recording of some songs of the soundcheck floatin around here, but that was a while ago.. So I don't really know. Anybody has it?
Slave To The Network Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I've definitely noticed the strange absence/scarceness of Having a Blast also. I love that song! It's a shame they hardly ever play it. Can anyone post some videos of more recent performances of it? Like between 2004 and now? I've seen the rare videos of them playing it way back in the day, but have never been able to find anything more recent.
