If you could have chosen them, what singles would you have chosen for each album?

The first two didn't actually have any singles, but I'm putting my choices anyway. OH WELL.

39/Smooth: Don't Leave Me, Going To Pasalaqua, The Judge's Daughter

Kerplunk!: 2,000 Light Years Away, Welcome To Paradise, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield

Dookie: Burnout, When I Come Around, Basket Case, Longview

Insomniac: Brain Stew/Jaded, Stuck With Me, 86

Nimrod: Hitchin' A Ride, Redundant, Uptight, Good Riddance

Warning: Warning, Minority, Fashion Victim, Castaway

American Idiot: American Idiot, Holiday, She's A Rebel, Boulevard of Broken Dreams

21st Century Breakdown: Know Your Enemy, East Jesus Nowhere, American Eulogy

¡Uno!: Nuclear Family, Let Yourself Go, Oh Love

I looked at what would get airplay but also the ones that appeal to those that prefer the older material (myself included).

they have released singles which were catchy and also some non-green day-ish type back then.

I don't think anybody here feels like they are "smarter" than the people at the label. I see this as a fun thread, not a thread criticizing the singles.

Yeah, I know, but it's taken from the fact that nobody's usually satisfied with the singles chosen. There's always a majority who complains,

Because they don't choose the best songs, but the most catchy/mainstream ones. If they had chosen the best from 21CB for example, the singles would have been EJN, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Murder City and American Eulogy. The fan favorites.

Both terms you use there are not definable. If they had released EJN and Murder City instead of 21CB and 21 Guns, the "fan favorites" had probably been those two.

The thing is that "catchy" is not definable like that, and I don't really see where you can draw the line between what is mainstream and what is just a good song for alot of people, hardcore fans aswell as casual listeners.
