I get that media blows thing out of proportion all the time, but I'm getting really sick of the news outlets that can't even get the facts straight and even more so the people that believe every word.

My brother and dad listen to the same station every day. Well today the host (Bubba the Lovesponge, if you know about him) decided to talk about the Billie controversy. They said that Usher was coming on after Green Day, and Billie was mad that they had to make time for him. Do they just pull this out of their asses? If they can't even get the common facts straight, how can you believe what else they say? To make it even worse my brother and dad are hanging on this guy's every last word. Constantly saying "It was all just damage control! He had a hissy fit because they insulted his eyeliner!". Just shut the fuck up. To just assume that since he is coming out with a new album (which needs publicity), he can't even have real issues is ridiculous.

Sorry. Rant over.

Obvious Troll is obvious.

Seriously fuck you. Just get the fuck off our forum, just fucking leave

Just saying it like I see it bro. When you're a multi-millionaire in a grammy award winning rock band you're gonna be surrounded by the types of people you probably derided on the way to the top. Fall slightly off the wagon for a second and the mollycoddled, sycophantic nature of the community you've found yourself in will've changed your grip on reality to the extent that a very minor drug 'habit' (for lack of a better word) is regarded as something that needs to be fixed, with the help of professionals, rather than mended through personal strength and willpower.

That interview must be when Billie realized he should show his landing strip to the masses.

There was a quick segment on the news today about this. One of the broadcasters made the joke that he was woken up before September ended. Every report I've heard about this blows it WAY out of proportion.

Actually our news report last night did a decent job. Just the facts without the exploitation. I was pretty proud of how they reported it.

The only thing I got out of that was "They're green, actually."

Just kidding. That's very interesting that they knew ahead of time. That throws things in a different light. Still doesn't change that the fact that he was obviously drinking, though. If he does need "rehab" as the media's calling it, I wish him the best of luck in kicking his addiction, whatever it might be, alcohol or otherwise.

Something new we know about it?

Cant go through 10 pages :P

This thread is hilarious. People thinking 'substance abuse' means alcohol.

substance abuse can mean alcohol, not just hard drugs. so people aren't wrong nor hilarious for speculating that it's alcohol.

I've been getting the uneasy feeling for some time now that he was kind of losing control of the manic side of himself. It crossed my mind (as I'm older than most fans myself) that it might be something along the lines of a midlife crisis, but it was beginning to take on an almost desperate edge in some of the footage I'd seen lately. Seems as though Mike and Tre may have seen this coming as well:

Hate to see it happen, but I'm so glad he was willing to listen to the people who know and love him best, so he can get himself in a healthy place and keep doing what he loves so much. All love, all health, all peace and all best wishes, Billie.

I believe that it is alcohol. There has been posts of interviews that say that he drinks before going on stage, and I've seen photos of him drinking. It's not obvious at ALL that he has a "problem", but like some people have said. We know nothing about his personal life. All I know is that I hope he gets well, and I'm glad that he's taking care of himself now.

That is the same bullshit Sun Times story that we talked about many pages back. There is absolutely NO reason to believe any of what's in there. Nameless "sources close to the band" just doesn't sit well with me.

Praying Billie gets the help he needs and that Mike, Tre, and Billie's family are getting through this okay <3

May be. But Billie himself mentioned having a "band fight about personal stuff" very recently, and said that he'd been acting like a "total diva." Maybe that's all it was, but maybe they were trying to talk to him then and he didn't want to hear it. I'm truly not trying to find authenticity where there may be none, but for me, this has been adding up for a while, and others seem to have noticed too.

Band fight? I didn't hear anything about this.

The fact of the matter is that none of us will ever know what is truly going on, and it's really none of our business. We don't need to know everything. If Billie ever wants to divulge more information that's his choice. I'm not going to waste my time speculating because it's pointless. All I care about is Billie doing whatever he needs to do for himself, his family and his band.

Billie is sooo0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o wasted

Oh yeah, I did hear about that. I didn't think much about it, I'm sure a lot of bands have their differences lol.

I was thinking about that interview when he said they had a band fight where he admitted to acting like a diva. He said it was about personal issues that shouldn't have been brought up at the time. Now I'm wondering if that is linked to recent events.

Billie hasn't been acting like himself (or at least, the Billie that we know) for a while now. He's been more serious, a little distant from Mike and Tre, and I don't know... just different. I've been wondering for a while what was going on with him (I didn't think he had any problems, per se, but there was an obvious change in him lately imo).

I just want the Billie that we all know and love back. He's been on my mind all day today. Continuing to send well wishes to him and his family. :)

I know I'm not at all alone in this, but Green Day is always my strength when I'm having a tough time with something. Right now, I can't help but feel a bit lost. But - now it's our time to be strong for Billie and for the band. We can do it.

I have an email here from someone at iHeart the day Green Day was supposed to go up. Look at the times:

TGbm2.png

Green Day is not scheduled to play till 11:50, Rihanna was scheduled to start at that time. Every act had roughly 30 minutes to play, then there was some time open to change the sets. Rihanna couldn't start at 11:50 if Green Day played for 45 minutes, they had to change sets.

There's a flaw with that though. If every band had about 30 minutes to play, but had to account for switching sets for the next act, they wouldn't be able to fit that schedule. No Doubt's set was about 27:30 minutes long, so then Green Day could have reasonably played for 40 minutes without a problem, which is what it looks like according to that schedule. They clearly have the biggest gap of time between performances.

They can switch out entire sets for entirely different genres of music in less than 5 minutes, because they ready most stuff back stage.

Also, for Rihanna, you don't need much stuff. Just a few amps and that's it. It's not like she has a huge band with instruments and shit.
