Clean Cut Asshole Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Not a big deal ? Really? Addiction is a massive deal! Drugs and or Alcohol addiction is extremely serious. God its annoying to see people saying its not a big deal. Plus there are still people around the net saying that its a publicity stunt, that its stupid that Warner are making him go to get treatment and that are still pissed at them getting pulled off stage early despite what has been said. In my opinion they were pulled off early but not because of running over or lack of respect but because the situation with Billie on stage was becoming extremly eratic. I believe their own management pulled them off stage because they were worried about Billie which was obvious from the reactions of Tre and Mike and Jason. Anyway the stupidity of some people on the net is mind boggling I didn't mean it like that, what I meant was that it shouldn't be so big of a deal that people lose respect for Billie just because he has an addiction. I didn't mean to offend you.
Schlappy Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 The only hint of it being false I find here is that Mike supposedly wasn't drunk, so if he smashed his bass it means the was angry too. It wouldn't make sense that he smashed his bass to support Billie if they were going to apologise. I think they just saw all the hate they were getting and decided it was better to apologise and come up with some excuse. or maybe he just wanted to break shit too
germanfuzaloo Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 It kinda pisses me off when I read stuff like "Is it drugs or just alcohol?". Alcohol IS a drug. A very serious drug that can destroy people's lives. I've seen it happen many times.
EmmaCharlatan&Saints Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I know the effects of addiction because I've had friends who've fallen into alcoholism and have spent all their cash on booze and pot to the point that they can't afford to pay for rent. This is just a PR thing - you can tell from them saying that their set wasn't cut short - it was, we were all witness to that. Usher went over so they reduced his time at the last second. People getting angry at me should look at other celebrities that have been admitted into rehab of treatment for substance abuse - 99% of the time they'd only been drunk or stoned once in public and up top goes OH MY GOD BAD PRESS LETS PUT HIM IN REHAB. Jesus, 'treatment for substance abuse' is a very broad thing to say. A close friend of mine was caught with a small amount or marijuana and had to get 'treatment for substance abuse' which was watching a video saying how bad it was and being told how bad it is by some woman for 25 minutes. Anyway, I hope Billie is alright. I'm being optimistic that this is just PR shit because he hasn't exactly been going to interviews absolutely pissed or anything. Dude just because he doesnt turn up to interviews pissed doesnt mesn he doesnt have a problem. Seriously you think its PR? Im sick of people saying its PR cause its fucked up to say it. So you are basically saying that every artist who ever had a substance problem was doing for PR wow the world is totally fucked up then. Shut up dude.
lucatotti Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i mean why? i've ever thought he is as balanced as he never was before. happy life, wife is his true love, kids are cool/alright.
captain peroxide Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i mean why? i've ever thought he is as balanced as he never was before. happy life, wife is his true love, kids are cool/alright. And you're qualified to make that assessment?
NoManCanEat50drumsticks Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 On swedish news they said it was due to drug abuse:'( Here in Italy too :-( and some newspaper is thinking again to the recovery in Bologna... fuck 'em all!
lucatotti Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i mean why? i've ever thought he is as balanced as he never was before. happy life, wife is his true love, kids are cool/alright. of course not. it just seems so. seemed.
Melissa-Whatsername Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 i mean why? i've ever thought he is as balanced as he never was before. happy life, wife is his true love, kids are cool/alright. I don't want to be misunderstood as mean or something. but do you really think just because it seems that he has the "perfect" life he doesn't have any problems? every single person on this planet has its own problems, more or less worse...
lucatotti Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I don't want to be misunderstood as mean or something. but do you really think just because it seems that he has the "perfect" life he doesn't have any problems? every single person on this planet has its own problems, more or less worse... no, of course everyone has problems, sure. even billie. but i couldnt imagine it as that bad.
EmmaCharlatan&Saints Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Can I just ask about the problems he had before? Just curious as people are saying he had problems with drink and drugs before? I known the band have done that stuff I just wasnt aware he had serious problem before... so can anyone elaborate? If you woudnt mind
RobyRoom Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I think a lot of us are in denial right now. He clearly has some real issues and according to what many websites are reporting he's been showing signs of discomfort from quite some time :/ We are not going to help him if we try to excuse him.
Hermione Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I just wish people would stop with the assumptions and theories. We don't know anything more than what was in that statement so it's totally pointless to theorize. Not to mention it's not our business anyway. Also I'm ignoring any info regarding this that comes from random articles/news stories. There's no way of knowing if anything they say is true or not so unless the band decides to say something there's no point in taking notice of it.
Melissa-Whatsername Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 no, of course everyone has problems, sure. even billie. but i couldnt imagine it as that bad. me too. So at first I was shocked, well I am still The only thing we can do is supporting and loving him <3 In general as long as we just know that he obviously has a problem and he's looking for help we shouldn't imagine any things. of course we're worried but that doesn't mean that we can create some stories which are not true. just wait for a official statement of the Band, Adrienne or Billie himself.
JellyTime Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Oh God. I always heard about addicted music, but I never thought, that it might affect Green Day. Well, Billie is only a human. We all have our problems and weaknesses. I don't want to know, what happened, I only want to hear, that Billie come out of this. Rage and Love from Poland, BJ. We'll be with you for better and worse.
Angela. Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I keep noticing people worrying about what the media says. Why? As I said yesterday, the media will almost always pull things out of their asses in order to get the most hits or views. They don't care about getting proper information. That won't sell. It's the most scandalous headlines that receive the most reception. If people are going to be led by ignorance and assume that a news segment or tabloid is true, let them. They're fools. Their opinions don't matter. Do you really think the rest of the band and their families are letting these false reports get under their skin? They've been in the business long enough to know that you ignore that kind of junk. Follow suit. I highly doubt they give a fuck about whats being said at the moment. They just want Billie to get better. At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters in this situation is how Billie regards himself.
Hermione Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I have to say listening to some of the songs on Uno while listening to it for the first time today felt bittersweet having heard this news last night. Just makes me even more pleased that he's getting the help he needs. Here's hoping things will be better for him as soon as possible.

Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Ok so i resisted commenting on this again because it seems everyone is so keen to rip each other to shreds but i am sick of some comments so here goes. For one: did anyone really think Billie had the perfect life? I mean seriously wtf? Do any of you listen to his lyrics?! Even regarding his personal/family life which some of you seem to know so much about...all i know is what i get from song lyrics etc Nimrod for one indicates life isnt perfect for him. You may say thats years ago but AI and 21st C Breakdown and AI weren't exactly filled with happy songs about how great his life is either (characters or not he has said numerous times they are more or less him). Second: the repeated people suggesting this is pr: bullshit. I know i am not the only fan here who is on Brittney's Instagram (i will NOT be giving ANY info on it as its private but some other fans are on it). It is CLEAR from a photo of Mike and her taken yesterday and subsequent conversation on it with friends that he/they are very upset and/or worried so this is def not pr. I wouldn't have said anything at all about this except the repeated suggestions are so annoying and simply wrong. I will not however give any link/further info about that ig. Hope (mods) it was ok to post that...im on a rant!
DannyDirnt Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Don't you have very, very best friends you've known for a long time? It doesn't matter if your friend is right or not, you just support him even if you know this is false and you make a fool outta yourself. Yeah I do. But well, I've never been in that situation.
greendaytodeathandback Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Got a bit upset when I first saw this to be honest
EastJesusNimrod21 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 'Billie Joe Armstrong' is trending on twitter! Blink and you'll miss it
Abbey. Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Mods, I wanted to talk about the iHeart performance including "the rant" and not anything related to the substance abuse statement from the band. I think you should re-open the iHeart thread in the 2012 tour section. We discusssed BJA's "Steve Jobs" rant at the South America show. I think there are conversations to be had outside the realm of substance abuse and more about the band's stage performances but you seem to be shutting everything down and directing folks here. I dont want to talk about substance abuse, I want to talk about the performance and stage rant. Reconsider? Thanks, Abbey
LittleBoyNamedTrain Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 God, I still can't believe this is happening. So unexpected but brilliant that he's getting help for it.
EmmaCharlatan&Saints Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Substance abuse? Smashing up guitars and telling corporate Bieber lovin organizers to 'fuck off' is punk rock, not substance abuse. GREEN DAY ARE BACK!!!!!!!! Ever here the saying if you have nothing good to say dont say it..yeah I would replace good with stupid here
