Hermione Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 When people say they're "disappointed" I think they're just mangling their ideas. They're saying it's disappointing to see Billie at the point he reached Friday night, not that they're disappointed in him for getting help. Treatment is the best case scenario, so I'm proud of him. There's people saying they're disappointed in him for taking drugs (too thick to realize that substance can mean alcohol) and/or performing shows while under the influence. Not even commenting on the fact he's now getting help, just making snarky comments that he's 40 and should be able to control himself and grow up and that because he took drugs they have no sympathy for him. Oh and assuming that this was the real reason for that festival appearance in Italy being cancelled and that the stomach pains explanation was a lie. That's why it annoyed me so much lol.
holyshitaflyingbanna Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I feel this is much more of a "calm every one the fuck down" thing more than he really has a big problem. What I'm saying is that he probably doesn't have a big drinking problem and hes going to rehab to calm down anyone who was offended by his amazing rant at the iHeartRadio Festival...
Heather. Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I think its all bullshit. I think (if he's actually going to treatment at all) he's only doing it for legal reasons. Saying you have a substance problem is generally a sure-fire way of getting out of law-suits with as little damage as possible. I also think you would have a VERY difficult job writing and recording 3 albums in such a short time and having such a busy schedule as him as an active alcoholic. Like I said earlier, I think he's a functioning alcoholic when he wants to be, but can't control it when he does indulge too much. Maybe this recent promo tour was a particular struggle for him, and he just wants to stop it. He's joked constantly over the years (and many times spoken very seriously about his "demons" being primarily alcohol related) about his problems, so I personally believe that Billie Joe has had a "problem" that he does need to address. For his sake, I hope he's not doing it just for legal reasons. That's just ridiculous.
NoVaCaInE! Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I hope he gets the help he needs and this doesn't cause the upcoming tour to be canceled Because that's the most important thing, definitely!!
SetOnOverdrive Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Why there are rumors that the band will split up? It was only a matter of time.
songofthecenturyx Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I know you're all confused and worried, so the only thing to do is discuss and jump to conclusions, but some of you need to relax. Many rockstars have been in and out of rehab... it's the rockstar way of life and it's easy to get caught up in drugs and/or alcohol. There's no reason to be disappointed in Billie - yes, he has done drugs. Shocker. But he's clearly doing whatever to better himself, so he just needs support from his friends, family and fans. Press this week is cancelled, and that sucks, but health comes first. Billie just needs some time to get his shit together.. the band is not breaking up. Just be supportive - that's all he needs from us right now.
Forever Now Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Read about it on ABC news. Hope he's doing better!
WhiteTim Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Why folks quick to blame Warner? Warner cant make Billie go to rehab no label can do that (if that was the case DGC would have forced Kurt Cobain into rehab in 92)
A song for the lovers Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Because people over-analyze everything. They think because his going to a treatment so they will split up? That's bullshit...
Annie, get your gun Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I can't believe people have this "mentality" of only being on the band's side when everything's fine, but then at the first sign of danger they not only start making ridiculous, extreme conclusions, but also play an angry-offended part instead of support them with the heart. I don't understand it, but I haven't seen anything, only read what you guys have been saying here. I feel worried about Billie, about the band, everything...
Wobbie Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 He didn't break any laws though. The material he destroyed was his own property. Yeah but isn't he in shit for slandering Iheart etc for cutting their set which Clear Channel are now denying?
porksoda Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I feel this is much more of a "calm every one the fuck down" thing more than he really has a big problem. What I'm saying is that he probably doesn't have a big drinking problem and hes going to rehab to calm down anyone who was offended by his amazing rant at the iHeartRadio Festival... I agree. I think the main thing is that he pissed off some higher-ups and now they're trying to do some damage control. But that also doesn't mean that his friends and family aren't concerned about what may be turning into a problem, so they recommended he take a break to ease some stress.
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 What? How can Bill Schneider leave if he wasn't in the band in the first place? Not actually leave the band as in ...as if he were a part of it...but he is their tour manager. A few pages back someone said he had left them. Is this confirmed?!
Sanah Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 This thread is almost as bad as pop media. Some much-needed sensibility:Billie's not dying (any quicker than the rest of us). He's not going to rehab because of one instance of drinking prior to performing at iHeartRadio. It is serious. It's not a fucking publicity stunt to go to rehab before releasing a new album, let alone a trilogy. These things happen. He's human. There's no reason for anyone to be disappointed in him. He's seeking help, and he should be lauded for it.It could have been much worse. We should be proud of him for acknowledging and acting to prevent the problem from escalating into something far greater and far more uncontrollable. The most we can do is support him, the band, and their families from afar.Mike's last photo on Instagram does not indicate the band splitting up after 25 years of being together. His safety is a priority. We need stop overanalyzing and assuming the worst, even if it is out of sincerely caring for him. Everyone calm the hell down and stop starting rumors. They spread, whether or not you want them to. We don't know anything until it's official, and the only thing that's official is that he's getting help. We're here for him, and I'm sure he, Mike, and Tré know that due to their current use of social media. There isn't much else we can do aside from wishing him well and giving him the support he needs at this point.
Katarina. Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Is it strange that the saddest thing I learned from this cesspool of a thread is that Bill Schneider left the band? Because that means no more 'splainin and that makes me sad. [still wishing Billie Joe the best.] Is this true though? Where did you read that? Makes me sad. Not good. I don't like it. Can't really 'splain.
1039SweetChildren Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Bottom line is that Billie Joe has his own battle to fight right now and he's getting help. The rest is not our business and it's out of our hands. Let's just wish him the best, stick together, and wait. This is gonna be tough for everyone, but we gotta stay supportive and positive.
SetOnOverdrive Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Where has this assumption of him going to rehab come from? All the statement said is that he had been treated for substance abuse. Who's to say he just didn't have to spend a night in A&E after some heavy "partying".
NoVaCaInE! Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Is it actually stated that he's gone into rehab? I just seen "seeking treatment". It seems like people are imagining it being worst case scenario when not all of the facts are known yet.
A song for the lovers Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I don't really get it, and please explain me, did he go to a treatment because of what happend in iHeart concert?
November's Storms Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Yeah I'd like some more clarity on that idea that Bill Schneider has left the band.
Zelda Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Hold up. Where did this Bill Schneider thing come from?
1039SweetChildren Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Yeah but isn't he in shit for slandering Iheart etc for cutting their set which Clear Channel are now denying? He didn't slander them. All he did was bug out about having one minute left. Freedom of speech.
whitechristmas Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Oh man. This is horrible. Billie and his family and the rest of Green Day have all my love and support. Just an hour ago I told a friend of mine to look up the video of Billie's rant because it was so hilarious. Now I feel weird for even laughing at it.
pucky Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Why there are rumors that the band will split up? I think it is reasonable. All this news are bad, and still we don't know what's going on and, specially, WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I find myself preparing my mind for the possibility that the band split up, but that doesn't mean that I want that or that I think it's going to happen. It is just that the band is in a really delicate situation, we don't know what will happen and I am kind of preparing myself for anything that could come so, in case something really bad happens, I can bear the shock. And I think that's what's happening to all the "splitting up" rumours.
