cj_unoxx Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is there any speculation for when it will be available to the public? Kicking myself for not getting the boxset now... Also (I know this happened a while ago and there are too many pages for me to search for this answer so I'm hoping someone can briefly explain this to me), why did they change the name from Quatro to Cuatro? I made the album covers in my sig back before the change (back before Tre was released), and when they changed it I let out an exasperated UGH. Never actually found out why though... They changed it because they were counting in Spanish and four in Spanish is Cuatro not Quatro
benszost Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Unp and dos ones are cool cause they have the lyrics and photos and also cool little quotes as well Tre just has lyrics and photos but no quotes guess they werent finalized before Billie's rehab that's cool about the quotes, I was wondering if they'd have like cool stuff like that or old lyrics that might have been changed which would be cool to see
xnighttimesky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 They changed it because they were counting in Spanish and four in Spanish is Cuatro not Quatro I know, but how come they didn't catch that in the first place? They have a whole marketing team it has to go through before they release any info. I thought it was punk thing, "we don't give a fuck we will spell it the way we want", use Italian and drop the extra 'T', that type of mentality.
Skull_Throne Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never said cuatro came with a booklet, was just wondering what the booklet was like There is no stand alone booklet if that's what you're thinking. ¡Uno! ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! are packaged in A5 digibooks each with 40 pages of expanded liner notes. The same way the American Idiot deluxe version did. Looking back that AI deluxe book was really nice. It's got pretty much the entire script from the Broadway show in it.
Ritz Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Just watched Cuatro and its a fucking gem. A FUCKING GEM cos of the live version of Lazy Bones and ProShot footage of Kill The DJ and Stay The Night from Echoplex. The highlights for me would be the solo Billie did during the recording of Fuck Time. Not at all doubting Billie's Guitar skills but that was pretty fucking awesome. The intro of Nighlife was hilarious! Loved it so much Oh I wish they had recorded Mike recording a bass solo Mike's dance during Kill The DJ, I died laughing. Overall, it was awesome. I don't know how many times I'll watch it before I am fully satisfied. Loved the way they talked of Rob being back in the team and including Jason in Green Day. Ah I have so much to write but I just can't word my thoughts right now haha.
CocaColaX Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I wish it had been a bit longer, like some others have mentioned. I'm sure they must have had loads more footage that could have been used. Like the bit where they were talking about cancelling a show (I'm thinking it was the free one that had been on Billie's twitter), but unless I missed something, they kinda skipped over that, so unless you knew about it already, it was a bit confusing. Same with the 'big show' they played in Oakland, mentioned towards the end of the film. I'm thinking that was the one where they filled in at the last minute for some band that had to pull out (can't remember who), I think they could have made more of that also. Unless I am totally wrong in trying to remember back. I just hope that Broadway Idiot will be released soon ..........
Micky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 To be honest, I'm grateful to even have Cuatro, in the first place, I don't get why people are complaining about this, too.
Ritz Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 "I am a fucking professional! I am the motherfucking best!" OMG Mike you make me die with laughter
WorryRock02 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I won't watch Cuatro on youtube oder whatelse I'll wait until it comes out for people who didn't buy the box And I know that this will be a really hard waiting time same here

Yeah you'd think they would catch it along with catching that ¡Dos!'s cover has Mike's hair/head over the logo and smaller than ¡Uno! And ¡Tré! But whatever
Charlie Boston Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is the dvd longer than the cuatro version on youtube?
Sanity Loan Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 This thread is like a giant circle. Same questions and things repeating every page.
LisaBJA Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 same here Yeah, I won't watch it elsewhere So I have to wait probably very long to get and to see Cuatro
Harry Potter. Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Finally found it on Tumblr! I KNEW someone would gif this. KNEW IT.
JIGD13 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is the dvd longer than the cuatro version on youtube? It's 75 minutes long
tdlyon Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Is the dvd longer than the cuatro version on youtube? The one on Youtube is a direct rip from the DVD.
Heather. Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I know most of us mere mortals were oohing and aahing at the Fuck Time solo, so I was just wondering if the more experienced guitar players of GDC care to weigh in on Billie's technical abilities and skill? I know we have a lot of "snobbish" discussions regarding Billie's lack of guitar skills and as someone who doesn't play guitar I still feel unable to comment on it. I always hear he is very capable at _________ but can't do ________ worth a shit and I don't really understand it. So to those who criticize Billie's ability, did watching Cuatro change anything? And I know it's Jason-Billie left-right speakers, but I can't really hear that with my shitty headphones and speakers, nor would I know what I should be more impressed with

Is he some insane shredder like those huge classic rock guitarists we all know? No, but he clearly doesn't need/want to be. I feel he would have done better solo-wise on this trilogy if he had been a bit more "there", if you know what I mean. In short, Billie can solo, and fairly well at that, yet he chooses to pull it in more and let the song as a whole hold the audience, rather than bombard us with solo after solo.

Let me rephrase my question: I remember when he did some seemingly kickass solo on American Idiot at Not So Silent Night, a lot of the guitar players were like "that's not a very impressive solo, it just sounds like it.." or whatever. Is the Fuck Time solo of a more, shall we say, 'professional rock god' quality?

And I know it's Jason-Billie left-right speakers, but I can't really hear that with my shitty headphones and speakers, nor would I know what I should be more impressed with When it comes to solo'ing, he's obviously pretty good at improvising blues riffs, a la Chuck Berry. With Cuatro, it shows how randomly some of these solos came, especially with Lady Cobra. Though it's pretty cool having Billie at random left and Jason at random right, it's nothing special skill wise. Just a lot of random stuff and blues riffs.

And I know it's Jason-Billie left-right speakers, but I can't really hear that with my shitty headphones and speakers, nor would I know what I should be more impressed with He's a damn good guitar player. He has fantastic rhythm, attack, physical skill and an incredible sense of melody. The left right thing isn't nearly as clear cut as Billie makes it sound. There's a lot of blending going on and most of the guitar tracks fall dead center as things go on in the songs. With the exception of "Lady Cobra," most of the solos are panned over both speakers anyway, so it's not really big huge deal in terms of actually hearing the two players go, especially since they're really similar guitar players already (as evidenced by their work in Pinhead Gunpowder).

I think Billie's a rock god no matter what lol
brianbags Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I love the part of them fucking up 8th Avenue Serenade!
