Just watched it on Youtube and absolutely loved it. My completely straight mancrush on Billie has solidified, lol. Can't wait until it's actually possible for me to get on DVD.

Questions:

Have most people in the UK who ordered the boxset got this yet? My brother hasn't

And is there a download of it for boxset people or is it just a physical copy?

I was so friggin surprised to recieve my copy on Tuesday, the actual release date!! Maybe my snotty email I sent about the delay with Uno did the trick, maybe it's just a coincedence!

To say that I enjoyed Cuatro would be an understatement. It was so fascinating to get glimpses into the studio's. My favourite bit's were of seeing Billie sitting there literally shaping songs-writing down lyrics, recording bits of guitar and drums. I just wish we had even more it. I do personally feel that the dvd could have been a longer running time, because then we could of seen more of some songs that I don't think they really included. Also I would of loved to have seen more footage of in the vocal booth, though I know it must be hard editing something like this, because where do you draw the line?! I think the dvd has made me fall in love with the trilogy even more. It might sound strange, but I feel more connected to some of the songs now. I am really hoping they will do this in the future for other records.

Watching Cuatro really got me thinking about how much more I'd enjoy some of the trilogy songs if they wee tweaked a little. Like when Billie plays that killer solo for Fuck Time, it would have made more of an impact I think. That high pitched wailing noise during Nightlife too really added a lot of depth to the song, and the Kill the DJ demo sounded pretty raw and powerful.

Don't get me wrong I love the songs as they are, just made me wish we could hear full versions of the demos.

I agree. Some of the "dirty" versions of the songs before they were refined were WAY better than what was on the records (which is why I'm looking forward to hearing the songs live). The best example I can think of was Nightlife. The raw version of that song actually sounded really groovy and less hip-hoppy. Also, the guitar solos. It would have been a great decision to include some of the more complex solos we heard in Cuatro.

Definitely. I think Billie Joe mentioned in the RS article that he'd like to do more stuff with Green Day that's 100% live, so hopefully that means in future we might hear something even more stripped down, more dirty and raw sounding. Totally agree with you on Nightlife by the way, that was one of the songs that stuck out to me as possibly being better than the studio version.

i am having so many regrets about not ordering the box-set. dammit.

If you preordered the trilogy box set with the 40 page booklet things, then you get Cuatro with it.

I got my copy earlier this week and just got around to watching it today. It's totally awesome, just by the way.

I'm assuming you'll be able to buy it online eventually, though.

but until then, a few people ahve posted it on Youtube.

You can still get the box set from the Rhino Records Canadian site for only 40 bucks!

Unp and dos ones are cool cause they have the lyrics and photos and also cool little quotes as well

Tre just has lyrics and photos but no quotes guess they werent finalized before Billie's rehab

Is there any speculation for when it will be available to the public? Kicking myself for not getting the boxset now...

Also (I know this happened a while ago and there are too many pages for me to search for this answer so I'm hoping someone can briefly explain this to me), why did they change the name from Quatro to Cuatro? I made the album covers in my sig back before the change (back before Tre was released), and when they changed it I let out an exasperated UGH. Never actually found out why though...

JUST received the DVD yesterday and right now I am about 45 minutes into it.

All I can say is....Wow.

This came out at a perfect time really. For the last 9 months we have been savoring the taste of Green Day as singles were released, small club shows were performed, an album in September, an album in November, an album in December, a postponed tour, a postponed DVD, new tour announcements, tour dates, and then releasing the DVD was the perfect way for me to just truly love this band.

Just as I outplayed and overplayed Uno, Dos was released. Just as I outplayed and overplayed Dos, Tre was released. And then the 3 CD's have just rotated over and over. I go through phases of what is my favorite CD from the trilogy.

Seeing these songs performed live last week made me enjoy songs I didn't care for too much on CD (Oh Love, Brutal Love) and made me absolutely in love with the ones I already liked (X-Kid, 99 Revolutions).

AND THEN to watch the DVD and see how they came together to write these songs and then perform these songs for the first time to crowds before the crowds had ever heard the songs FUCKING PROVES that Green Day is the best fucking band in the world.

They are the true epitome of what rock -n- roll music is. It's not about the money, it's not about the "performance" (the rehearsed banter, the pyros, the same "costume" every night), it's about the MUSIC. What other band would ever do this?? And sound good doing it???

I wish I could show this DVD to all my friends who kinda chuckle at me for being such a fangirl as a 36 year old man who's married with children. They would see what a fucking great band Green Day really is--and to be together cohesively for so long. What bands can say that they've worked together for decades and still work like that and still put out good fucking music?? Aerosmith? Rolling Stones? Kiss? Metallica?

I hate when bands who have been around like that say that their next album is "going to sound like the old stuff" as if they are admitting their last couple of albums sucked so they have to go back to trying to sound like their old stuff. It NEVER works! Green Day, however, builds from their past, but sounds new and doesn't sound forced.

This is a DVD that my son will watch one day and then turn to me and say, "Dad...when I grow up, I want to play music for a living".

It will be a proud moment...

This makes me so happy! :D I agree, it came out at the perfect time. Just a week after my first concert, after I had a chance to digest all three albums and truly appreciate them and have my Green Day high set on overdrive after an amazingly epic show.

I, too, wish I could show it to my friends/acquaintances who rip on me for being such a hardcore fan. I'm a 20-something-year-old girl and it's still not acceptable for me, either, apparently, so don't feel bad! ;) But a DVD like this shows how they're much more than what you just see on TV or the few singles that get airtime on the radio. I just wish the non-hardcore fans could experience it too. They're the ones who need to, y'know what I mean? Not that I feel it necessary to justify being a fan (so over that) but the DVD is just very eye-opening and real.

I totally agree. I mean, hell, if I was thinking to myself "man, Nightlife doesn't sound that bad without the distorted voices and such," you really have to wonder what got fucked up during the recording process. Songs in particular that sounded super sexy to me on the DVD, besides the usual suspects, were Wow! That's Loud and Loss of Control. Two songs that are just "meh" to me on CD are like "OMG HOW DO YOU NOT PLAY THIS LIVE?!" on the DVD. It's weird. Kill The DJ was ruined by the lack of echoing backing vocals from Mike and Jason on the chorus. The Echoplex recording of it is orgasmic. It's amazing how a little change here and there, added with the emotion of live performance, can make an average song amazing.
