Asa. Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If they really want to make money, they'll keep it a box set exclusive for a few months and eventually it'll be sold as a standalone DVD.
Awesompawsome Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Yea, they'd surely make. They would've lost about $50 from me if it wasn't a box set exclusive. They always said it was an exclusive. Tough luck for people who didn't know, but it was very clear from the beginning that it was an exclusive for the box sets. That's wonderful, instead of Warner getting money from people like me we'll just pirate it and get it off of eBay, everyone who wants it is gonna get it you just spent a lot more money than us
WorryRock02 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 ok it was clear that it was an exclusive .. but then again, not everyone is so rich afford to spend $ 80 (including shipping) in a day. I love Green Day and I'd do anything for them ... but for now my father keeps me financially. In conclusion, if the DVD will not be released separately, I 'll donwload it, even illegally. But lets me say a thing... why, the album of the trilogy purchased separately in the booklet have the photo of ¡Quatro!? If it was an exclusive box set would not have had to put the picture of the DVD. Am i wrong?
sampy Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Also, "Highlight" airings a month ago and preview at X-Games doesn't make sense without them planning to release it separately. Otherwise it would be like: "And now, we're screening/showing highlights of the making of dvd of the trilogy for you, but you can't purchase or see it anywhere else after this so fuck you". It's like shouting "FUCK ME RIGHT NOW" and showing your dick, then pulling up your pants and walking away. That's just weird and stupid.

That's just weird and stupid. yes you are right!!! it'd make no sense!!! and i repeat why put pictuore of ¡Quatro! artwork inside ¡Uno!¡Dos!¡Tré! booklet ( purchased separately) if it's only a box set exclusive?

localinsomniac Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Maybe they decided to do all those airings of the condensed version for the folks who weren't able to purchase one of the box sets? I can sympathize with the people who, for whatever reason, couldn't round up the cash for a Digital/Ultimate Box Set. But I don't necessarily agree that it's unfair to make the doc exclusive. For those who DO feel that way- since the whole thing was announced, it's been pretty clear that Quatro (at least the full, unedited version) would not be available separately. Would it not be unfair to the people who paid the extra money for an "exclusive" item if Warner/Green Day turned around and decided to sell the DVD independent of the box sets? It would be easy to feel like you were tricked into paying more for something you could have gotten anyway, if you just waited a little longer.
farley drexel hatcher Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Yes they said it would be box set exclusive, but anyone who bought the box set would be a bit dumb to assume it'll stay that way. Even if its a case of giving it to the box set people first, they're still getting the exclusive on it. Getting pissed that it won't only be available for the super fans or ones with money is kind of elitist. And I bought the box set. But I still want it to get a general release. Seems pointless otherwise.
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 You'd honestly rather Green Day fans don't get to see the documentary purely because you paid a lot for the box set? That's pretty selfish. You honestly think it won't be available to watch/download within 24hrs online? That will be weeks before many boxset owners undoubtedly recieve their paid for copy. Also is it selfish to expect Warner not to break consumer rights policies by offering exclusive products then changing their minds and making the product available to everyone after it has been released. Hello...definition of false advertising. Why wouldn't that piss anyone off?! Nobody wants to pay for something ONLY because it is exclusive and cannot be gotten by any other means only to discover months later that had you not bothered you could have gotten it (and in fact the other three albums) way cheaper and months apart and therefore much much easier on the wallet. Nobody (most certainly not me) can afford to throw money around but the word exclusive means something...it means uh oh...do it now or regret it later. If a limited vinyl release comes out would you expect them to keep re-releasing it despite it clearly stating it was limited? If they announce a gig and sell the tickets but you couldnt afford them would you turn up six months later and try to get into the gig without a ticket just because you wanted to see them too?! It stated clearly on the site six months ago that it was exclusive and some of us paid a much higher price as a result...we deserve what we paid for...everyone else has already had one hour of it, had fair warning and will have it online im sure...yet are whining so who are the selfish ones?!?!

Slave To The Network Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I personally hope it does become available to everyone. All fans deserve to see it! I hope they do that with the entire box set! It's kind of stupid to only make it available to fans one time for those who had enough money saved up then to buy it. Everyone should have the opportunity to purchase a box set when they're able to. I was only able to get it because I asked for that to be my 21st birthday present. I wouldn't have wanted to spend a hundred bucks otherwise and I know there are tons of people who didn't, so they missed out. I don't think that's very fair. A Green Day fan is a Green Day fan and they should all get equal opportunity.

J&TheNight Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I see it as more unfair to the ones who bought the boxset if they DO release it seperately. Jesus you guys, whining kids because you couldn't get it. I have passed up tons of awesome merch from bands because I couldn't afford it and I never blamed them, you only have yourself to blame for not having the money, regardless of the reason. I really went out on a limb to get this boxset as my fiance said I shouldn't because of the $102 it cost in the end after shipping and handling, but I did it anyways. Why? Because of that exlusive DVD. Honestly, I'm a little dissapointed in the attitudes of those who couldn't buy it. I watched a poorly burnt copy of Bullet in a Bible for five years before I was able to actually buy it. I was in high school when Awesome as Fuck was released and sold off some of my belongings so I could afford that DVD. This DVD will be released on Piratebay, youtube, and several other torrent/streaming sites within hours of it being released officially. Really, stop trying to paint those who really sacrificed to buy the Box Set as bad guys for doing so. Or the record label for giving those few lucky fans the chance to buy the set. I don't feel sorry for anyone who had no clue it wasn't exclusive as it was clearly displayed on the page for months. It's not selfish or elitist to be upset that something we overpaid for might be released for cheaper later. It's unfair to those who DID buy it early.
Skull_Throne Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 20 pages of people being rectally tormented about a DVD that isn't even out yet... Only on the internet.
Todd Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 20 pages of people being rectally tormented about a DVD that isn't even out yet... Only on the internet. People who get the box set get 20 pages + a dvd in a purple book, and if they do release it seperate , everyone else just gets a dvd in a lame dvd case without the pages. So yeah.

So that's your approach to life? I can afford it so only I deserve it, screw you if you can't. You say you couldn't afford BIAB, surely you wouldn't wish that upon others after knowing what it's like? The fact that only the rich fans get the coolest stuff is wrong. Just because someone has more money, it doesn't make them more deserving.

Of course we all would want all the stuff that we would like to possess, but that's not just always the case. And yes, from Warner's POW it would be beneficial to release the dvd later on separately, but if they do it too soon, then people won't buy any "exclusive" stuff anymore, so they really have to be careful in how they will proceed with this.

I couldn't really afford to get the boxset, so I scrimped and moved around some things to afford it. Only the "rich" fans? Bitch, you think I'm RICH?? Because I spent my very limited school money on a deluxe boxset for the first time in my life? Damn you sure do know me well right? About how growing up I couldn't afford a damn thing? That the only reason I have any money at all is because I'm a full time student who got a state grant, good grades in High School, and took out a student loan, you know all of that right? Last I checked having a yearly income of 10,000 TOPS isn't rich. Being able to afford a $100 box set doesn't make me rich, it means I sacrificed a lot of things this year to be able to get as much as I could from this trilogy as I was too young and broke to buy even a used CD before. Yea, I'm the fucking idiot for spending my money on something I wanted and STILL paying my bills year round while attending school. The MAIN point of my original post was that ANY ONE can watch this damn movie all they want, no one has the right to bitch about not having it. It's still available in the digital boxset for $40. It was advertised as the main selling point, so no one can say they didn't know it was exclusive. Not to mention, for the fifth time on this forum, that it'll be all over every torrent site and youtube within HOURS of being released. If you want expensive nice things, then prioritize what you spend your money on. I spent most my money this year on this band, because I wanted these expensive nice things. I'm not rich, I'm just smart enough to move shit around.
Todd Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 It's the idea that it's your life- if you want something bad enough, you'll find a way. Like in all of those movies where the guy gets the girl he wanted.
J&TheNight Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 It's the idea that it's your life- if you want something bad enough, you'll find a way. Like in all of those movies where the guy gets the girl he wanted. Exactly. I do truly feel bad for the people who simply couldn't afford the boxset when it was released, there is no doubt about it. But that doesn't mean that certainly some people could have found a way. Hell, I pissed off my fiance buying it as she said it wasn't "necessary" after having just moved into our first apartment in a new city. Yet I got it anyways, making sure that everything was paid before hand. Together we got all the bills paid, and were able to buy the Hot Topic shirts and exclusive vinyls. We hit a LOT of their sales, especially on Black Friday. I even bought tickets for a show that I knew I probably shouldn't have. When it was cnacelled and I was refunded, I spent that money getting my sister a birthday gift I missed out on. In the end, if you want something, you sometimes have to really reach for it.

I'm not rich, I'm just smart enough to move shit around. Well put! Boy am I sick of this argument...I too am far from rich. Having graduated with a masters from University into the current shitty economy i am unable to find work, my parents are elderly and recently my dad becsme v ill and is unable to work. I now support & care for my parents using state welfare which means I am permanently broke. I have many many financial outgoings NONE of which are recreational with the sole exception of Green Day and by that i mean this boxset so dont talk shit about "rich fans". Heating is a fucking luxery in my house these days. As i stated before when Warner promised this exclusive I saved, scrimped and went hungry for weeks so as to afford the boxset. This means more than some of you realise to some of us...we dont all live in mansions and swim in gold. You had fair warning...get the fuck over it already.
