fatherotti Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 It's a marketing tactic, dude. Most Green Day fans, on their parents income or not, will certainly jump at the fact that something included in the bundle is exclusive. Especially if it's documentary. They'd make more money if it wasn't a one time thing. If they sold more, they'd make more.
Todd Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 They'd make more money if it wasn't a one time thing. If they sold more, they'd make more. No. They drive more customers to buy it when its exclusive
Skull_Throne Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I don't know why people are pissing and moaning about something that has yet to be announced. The only thing we know for sure is that if you pre-ordered the box, you get the DVD. That's all that's been said. I think all this forum raging is flat out retarded given that we have little to no information as to the release specifications. It may be a timed exclusive, meaning that box set owner's will have it a few months ahead of its actual release or three weeks before release they might just start saying "Quatro" available in stores on *insert date here.* I highly doubt a 2 hour documentary about one of the most prolific rock bands of the 21st century is hardly going to be distributed. I also doubt it would have had a quarter of the inlay taken up with Quatro's artwork in Uno, Dos, AND Tre if it wasn't going to be available later on down the road. I think people need to chill out until more concrete information is provided. Just because a MOD doesn't think it's going to be available doesn't mean that's the bottom line. If I had to put money on it being released as a stand-alone later on I would. And that's coming from somebody who owns the box set.
J&TheNight Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Meh, I DO feel bad for the fans that couldn't afford the boxset and won't get this DVD. I don't feel bad for the people who didn't read the description fully enough when the Box Set was for sale, as it explicitly stated that the Making of DVD was exclusive to the boxset. It's the main reason I bought the damned thing after all! I wasn't able to buy it until September when I got my school money in, which was scary as I knew it was very limited. So to those who sincerely couldn't afford it I am sorry. If you can, buy the Digital boxset as it is included on that apparently. http://preorder.greenday.com/uno-dos-tre-digital-box-set.html?intcmp=120723/gday/wbr/hp_sp/s_pr/but/bdy/us/digitalboxset I know it's $40 bucks, but for some it's the only way. I also don't think it's "unfair" for them to make it exlusive and very limited, and wouldn't be too surprised if it wasn't released seperately for some time (or ever). Not that I WANT everyone to suffer, and a Blu-Ray version would be fantastic! But it makes a lot of fans would did get it feel fantastic to have such a rare item. It's hard to explain, I know. If I didn't get it, I would be pissed off too, but I wouldn't say it's unfair really. When I missed out on ALL of my other bands big releases this year I didn't feel it was "unfair", I just felt like I missed a great opportunity and that it was my fault for not putting away enough money through out the past 2 years. Really though, there is a good chance it will be released down the road. Maybe not for a year or more though. Also, keep in mind that SEVERAL box sets were bought by Non-Green Day fans who knew it would sell like crazy once the albums were released, so there will be copies of the whole set on Ebay, just expect to pay a pretty penny.
Tubbie Head Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If we can't buy it separately why was the iQuartro! cover next to the other three on the CDs that I bought separately? :angry It just doesn't make sense... I didn't know it was an exclusive to the box-set, they should have made it a lot clearer when they were advertising it!! Whatever, they are the ones who are going to lose money over this sloppy marketing strategy! Even if they do release later on, I don't think many people would buy it, since I'm sure it'll be out in the internet at that time...

J&TheNight Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Also, wasn't there supposed to be a SECOND DVD coming out this year? I could have sworn that was mentioned somewhere months ago.
WhiteTim Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Also, wasn't there supposed to be a SECOND DVD coming out this year? I could have sworn that was mentioned somewhere months ago. theres a pre dookie footage dvd but it was never said when it was going to be released
J&TheNight Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 theres a pre dookie footage dvd but it was never said when it was going to be released yes that one! I remember now, it was something that thoroughly went over their past.
WhiteTim Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 yes that one! I remember now, it was something that thoroughly went over their past. yeah could be this year or 2014 they only said the premise of it
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Ok you know what this bitching is really pissing me off...I bought the "Ultimate Boxset" paid 89 for it with shipping when I could have bought the three cds on release date for less than 35 in my local record shop. Uno and Dos were several days late. I STILL have not recieved Tre!! I recieved an email yesterday from Warner saying it was returned to them as undeliverable which is utter bullshit as I haven't changed address/phone number or recieved any contact whatsoever regarding delivery. Now I have no idea if I will even be getting half of what I ordered and even if I do it is WEEKS late and the SINGLE reason I and I'm guessing any other sane person ordered it in the first place was for the exclusive DVD. Some more context...I am unemployed, an adult with numerous responsibilities...to buy this took a lot of sacrifices (serious understatement) but I only did it based on the fact thst I believed Quatro to be unavailable otherwise...it would, in my opinion, be another total fuck over of those who paid a high price in one lump, waited weeks for screwed up orders and were otherwise screwed over by Warner if this were to be released nice and cheaply in another few months. And I could care less if they sell a few more copies of it...it is SUPPOSED to be exclusive!! Plus they showed an hour on tv for free. Sorry if it seems like Im ranting but some people need to see it from the pov of the fans who HAVE forked out a lot for just this dvd...and did so in July.

If you people want the dvd, go get it on Amazon or some shit. Borrow it from your friend. Torrent it. Watch it on Netflix. Life isn't fair, deal with it. This isn't FML, people come here to express their love for GD, no one wants to hear people bitch and complain. If you want to do that, go to the Bitch and Complain thread in the help & advice.

You'd honestly rather Green Day fans don't get to see the documentary purely because you paid a lot for the box set? That's pretty selfish.
Misterglasshalfempty Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 You'd honestly rather Green Day fans don't get to see the documentary purely because you paid a lot for the box set? That's pretty selfish. No, he's saying that once they've said it would be exclusive, they shouldn't change their mind afterwards. THAT'S whats's unfair.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Guys, we have the Internet now. Is it REALLY that big of a deal if it's only available in box set purchases? It's not like you won't get to see it one way or another. It will probably get uploaded to YouTube within a day. And is it really "unfair?" Because really they can do whatever they want... it's foolish marketing, maybe, but probably not "unfair." And we don't even know if it's officially box set exclusive anyway, right?
WhiteTim Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 And we don't even know if it's officially box set exclusive anyway, right? It said quite clearly on the website "exclusive to the ultimate box set" i dont think that could get any clearer than that... But people will see the dvd people are over reacting to it
Nzap Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 They'd make more money if it wasn't a one time thing. If they sold more, they'd make more. Yea, they'd surely make. They would've lost about $50 from me if it wasn't a box set exclusive. They always said it was an exclusive. Tough luck for people who didn't know, but it was very clear from the beginning that it was an exclusive for the box sets.
Neon Light Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 No, he's saying that once they've said it would be exclusive, they shouldn't change their mind afterwards. THAT'S whats's unfair. Yeah but I'd still rather everyone got to see it.
sampy Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 There's this thing called internet, with that you're able to see it after it's released.
FatVince Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I didn't buy the Box Set so I won't have ¡Quatro!. And I don't care about. I know someone out there will upload it on The Pirate Bay. So, I guess I will also watch it. If there's a separate release, I'd buy it. If it's not the case, that's fine too.
OhTheGuilt. Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Really? Only with the Box set? That's ridiculous.
TheJedi Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 why don't you all stop complaining until we know? And even if it wouldn't be released people will upload it on the internet... and i'm sure you can get it on ebay too
Ritz Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I am sure it will be sold separately. Just wait for some days/
DannyDirnt Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I'm gonna watch it, wether I can buy it or not.
blitzkriegdeb Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 The DVD was essentially the only selling point towards ordering the box set in the first place, otherwise people would've just paid alot more money just to get the 3 albums delivered instead of going out and buying them. It can say "box set exclusive" all it wants, but seriously, it's going to end up on Pirate Bay or YouTube or on bootlegs or somewhere on the Internet, so don't freak out about it.
