I just kind of love the idea that a female-fronted band will be opening for them :ninja:

GREEN DAY ANNOUNCE THAT BEST COAST WILL JOIN THE BAND AS SUPPORT FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY ARENA DATES DURING UPCOMING ¡UNO!, ¡DOS!, ¡TRÉ! TOUR

September 20th, 2012 — Los Angeles, CA — Reprise Records’ Green Day have announced that they will be joined by Best Coast as support for their upcoming arena dates next January and February as part of their ¡UNO!, ¡DOS!, ¡TRÉ! TOUR. Best Coast will join Green Day beginning on January 8th in Rosemont, IL at the Allstate Arena and open all dates following, wrapping up on February 8th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. All dates are on-sale now and can be found below.

Best Coast, the proudly Southern Californian duo of Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno, have matured in both their sound and perspective with the highly acclaimed sophomore record, The Only Place which was released May 15th, 2012 on Mexican Summer. This follow-up to 2010’s Crazy For You was launched in tandem with Cosentino's capsule collection for Urban Outfitters and landed them the cover of Spin Magazine. The band have performed recently on Late Night with David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon Show, and Conan O'Brien and received heaps of critical praise from editorial outlets that include NPR, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Pitchfork, Nylon, Rolling Stone and The Guardian.

Green Day, which is vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool, are touring in support of their upcoming trilogy of albums Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, and Green Day ¡Tré!, which Rolling Stone described as, "…heavier and hardened from their time in the trenches but back in the garage, ready for rapture." Green Day ¡Uno! will be released by Reprise Records on September 25, 2012 followed by Green Day ¡Dos! on November 13, 2012, and Green Day ¡Tré! on January 15, 2013. I've seen posts about it in the North American tour thread (which is now closed), but I think having a thread for this is fine.

I´m going to see this band next month probably :)

FUCK YEAH! Hope this applies to Australian tour dates..

They're not bad...

Now, annouce the European/rest of the world tour, please!

I was really hoping they were going to have Wavves open for them like Mike had insinuated in an interview a while ago. Wavves is definitely a better, punkier "fit" for GD. Best Coast annoys the crap out of me. Still, not the worst band in the world; I'm sure a lot of GD fans will dig 'em.

Eh. Not too thrilled about that. Oh well.

Odd combo, but I like Best Coast so that'll be fine. Though I will say, Best Coast is the kind of band I listen to in the summer time, so it'll be a bit odd seeing them in the winter.

After this, all the hipsters and websites jerking it to Best Coast will no longer be interested in 'em.

I was just looking on Best Coast's facebook page and when they announced an hour ago or so that they're playing with Green Day....most of the comments are "eww why?" "i would go if green day wasn't playing"....lame.

Pretty excited to see Best Coast!! :)

Like I said in the last thread, I like Best Coast and (obvz) Green Day, but it'll be interesting to see how the crowds react to them together. I loved AFI because, they weren't the best live, but they definitely brought the energy needed to pump up a Green Day crowd. I can't speak fairly because I haven't seen Best Coast live, but their music just makes me want to smoke a bowl and lay in bed and have weird funky dreams and shit, not jump around and go nuts. An odd mix for sure, but hey, cheers to them supporting a local California band.

Also, like others said, I personally think Wavves would've been a better choice, but all well.
