Malleus Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I still hate the shit out of 21CB... me too I'll fight both of ya.
Alan86 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 but what is the meaning of rusty james? i didnt get it. http://gdaimages.s3....es_081912_2.jpg Go to the bottom of this page and read from the line "That sense of community and loyalty" onwards. It gives a description of what the song is about.
Sleeper Agent. Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'll listen to the album now, got back from my 2.5 hour history exam so really need to not look at anything study related.
SynthwaveTrooper Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Lyrics dont have to be EPIC Or super amazing to make an album. The lyrics are simple and great and fit very well
Doggins Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Really, all of the songs except Kill the DJ and Troublemaker are at least ok in my book. That makes it a huge improvement over 21CB. I still hate the shit out of 21CB... me too Me three!!
Sleeper Agent. Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Can anyone message me a link? I've been searching for this elsewhere online and haven't had any luck. Don't ask for links
jtdscape Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 EDIT: Could say a lot more about it actually. Think Billie is talking to himself when he says "where the fuck is your old gang, man?" I mean, if you switch a couple of words around he's basically calling himself an old man (but that's probably reading too far into it). It's a really original idea, something only Green Day could write about now. It made me think of this immediately. It actually made me quite upset after listening to it a few times. I hate thinking of growing up.
1039SweetChildren Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Lyrics dont have to be EPIC Or super amazing to make an album. The lyrics are simple and great and fit very well I agree. I still don't even get what some of the songs on 21stCB are supposed to mean. I like the stylings of Uno.
Heather. Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'm listening now. I'm finally sold on Stay the Night. Did not get the hype among fans, I thought it was a somewhat boring song, but the studio version is solid. I'm really overwhelmed right now by how much this just DOES NOT sound like 21CB in any way. Refreshing is right! And I liked 21CB.
sundown Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Not entirely sure yet, but it seems to me the song is about Green Day growing up, basically. Billie could be singing about how his band has stood the test of time while the punk community which they were a part of - hell, the community which MADE them - has disappeared into nothing. Now he's trying to find his place between all the mainstream amateurs, nostalgic about the old times. EDIT: Could say a lot more about it actually. Think Billie is talking to himself when he says "where the fuck is your old gang, man?" I mean, if you switch a couple of words around he's basically calling himself an old man (but that's probably reading too far into it). It's a really original idea, something only Green Day could write about now. hmm, okay. Seems very good to me, i dont know why you dont like.
Alan86 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I hate thinking of growing up. Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional
Sleeper Agent. Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I love seeing the forum mods edit posts it makes me laugh
Sarcasm Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 if you were wondering, you quoted someone with a link or someone who asked for it, without editing the quote so the question/link was still in the thread
1039SweetChildren Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I actually feel more inclined to replay Troublemaker than many of the other tracks on the CD. I think it's great and fun!
24HrRevengeTherapy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'll just wait 'til it hits Spotify to listen since I'm a lame-o and hate donwloading leaks of things.
