Green Day Q&A Thread

19th Nervous is 19th Nervous Breakdown by Elvis Costello, and it was never released. Billie "couldn't get the vocals right". There's a live version from that show him and Elvis Costello did together, though, but I don't think he sings. Never heard of Alfred E Normal.

On the subject, did Billie sing at all during that show? Like backup vocals or something?

People are standing right next to the stage, looking down at their phones, Billie can barely walk straight, and there's no applause. Excuse me while I jump off a cliff.

Same as the one on Nimrod. It's basically the same, he just doesn't pick in the beginning of the original one and of course there's no string section.

I remember reading a news article on GDA, about an upcoming book that was available for preorder on amazon, which Billie Joe was to write an introduction to. Does anyone have updates on that thing or did nothing ever happen?

Not exactly Green Day related per se, but someone on Tumblr mentioned that they heard a rumor about 924 Gilman Street shutting down, does anyone know anything about it?

All I know is that I pre-ordered it from Amazon - it was suppose to come out early/mid-September. But they canceled the pre-order a while back just saying it wouldn't be available. Haven't heard anything more since then. :(

What was this book supposed to be? Because I just in Barnes & Noble a very recent publication (included through the 21CB tour photos) that came in a huge box. It was too expensive and I was with a bunch of people so I didn't properly look at it, but it was a large black thing.

All I know is that it was just called, "Green Day," and was about $47 for the pre-order. (Can't find the original post mentioning it on GDA.)

That sounds like what I saw, it was called Green Day and it was black and red. It had like 2 posters inside and fake pullout tickets and whatnot.

Hmmm...might have to take a walk over to B&N at lunch tomorrow. Thanks!

This is the one I was describing, yes. Don't know if it had a forward by Billie.

Time to do some sleuthing! :)

This is the "Unavailable" page for the book on Amazon. Maybe if you can match up the details of the two you can figure out if the one at B&N is the one.

http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/006208979X

EDIT: Looks like the ISBN doesn't match. They aren't the same.

The part about the ticket stubs and backstage passes makes it seem like it's the same thing, but the publishers are different and the one at B&N is only 64 pages vs 192 pages listed on amazon. Maybe they scrapped the foreward by Billie and captions by the band and just put out the rest of the book?

That's what I'm thinking. Which may be the reason they didn't release it before.

why are there not any b-sides anymore on the singles? I mean with American Idiot you got Shoplifter and Too much too soon if i remember correctly and Know Your Enemy had Hearts Collide and Lights Out, 21 Guns had Favorite Son and so on..
