Anaïs. Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Wasn't sure where to put this so I'll put it here In my music lesson we have to do presentations with examples of different like electronic ways of changing the sounds of instruments, and I've been given the wah-wah pedal and the chorus pedal. We have to include examples, and it would be great if I could include some green day songs, especially seeing as none of my class really know their music The only thing I literally have no clue as to how to recognise when these are being used, I don't really know what they are (I kinda know what a wah-wah pedal sounds like but I couldn't recognise it amongst other instruments and sounds :/) So yeah, this may be a really stupid question i dunno if it's the kind of thing they would use but if any of you could tell me if any green day songs have a wah-wah pedal or a chorus pedal (and when they are used in the song) that would be great RHS definitely has some wah-wah going on after "KNOW YOUR ENEMY".
ing Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 There's a wah pedal at the end of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, it's a lot more obvious live than it is on the studio version. In fact, it might even be a phaser on the studio version, but it's definitely a wah live. As for chorus, I'm not sure, but there might be one on the guitar in Redundant. Ah yeah I can hear it in Boulevard of Broken Dreams! Hmm and maybe a chorus in redundant, I'll have a listen again, thanks!! RHS definitely has some wah-wah going on after "KNOW YOUR ENEMY". Omg yeah this is a really good example thank youuu!
Spike Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 RHS definitely has some wah-wah going on after "KNOW YOUR ENEMY". How could I forget that? That solo is fucking ROCKET FUELED.
Anaïs. Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Related to the Cigarettes and Valentines rigamarole that's been happening over in the conspiracy theory thread—why does no one ever bring up the obvious reason for its being a hoax—if the tapes were "stolen", why would the guy who did so not attempt to sell them on the black market for a shitload of money, or upload them to the Internet, or something? Does anyone really believe the thief would have kept them all to his lonesome for going on eleven years?

Anaïs. Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Some people will believe anything. And some just want to watch the world burn.
Todd Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Why did they used the line "Video games to the towers fall" instead of "From Mexico to the Berlin Wall" in the offical publiced edition of 21st cetury breakdown? I think the new lyrics show how much the world has changed from simple 8-bit games in the 80s to the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and the fear and insecurities that came with that. There's a wah pedal at the end of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, it's a lot more obvious live than it is on the studio version. In fact, it might even be a phaser on the studio version, but it's definitely a wah live. As for chorus, I'm not sure, but there might be one on the guitar in Redundant. You can find it easily with the multi tracks (a few years ago, it was illicit to speak of them here. Oh how times have changed)
Spike Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 You can find it easily with the multi tracks (a few years ago, it was illicit to speak of them here. Oh how times have changed) I've got the multitracks, but I'm still not sure whether it's a chorus or not. It could be a Leslie simulator.

Like I said in that thread, though, for the sake of discussion you take all presented facts at face value.
Spike Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Like I said in that thread, though, for the sake of discussion you take all presented facts at face value. Or, when things seem suspicious to some extent, you're also free to speculate as to what might have gone on when things clearly don't add up.
Anaïs. Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 People bring that up all the time. You aren't the special snowflake you think you are. Where did I say I was a special snowflake? I'll add a clarification: In my time on GDC, I have never seen anyone mention that point when discussing C&V. Never said I was the first person to think of it, just that I was curious as to why I'd never seen it brought up when people discuss C&V, as has been happening a lot as of late. No need to be so abrasive, man. You're not the special snowflake you think you are.

Desmond of December Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I think the new lyrics show how much the world has changed from simple 8-bit games in the 80s to the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and the fear and insecurities that came with that. You can find it easily with the multi tracks (a few years ago, it was illicit to speak of them here. Oh how times have changed) still it doesn't match the next line "Homeland security could kill us as" as much as talking about what did American do with homeland security as an excuse A little aggressive, my apologize.
Todd Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 still it doesn't match the next line "Homeland security could kill us as" as much as talking about what did American do with homeland security as an excuse A little aggressive, my apologize. No, it's fine. Of course Homeland Security ties in both with 9/11 and Mexico, but I don't get how they could "kill us all". I think that's the weak lyric, not the previous parts
Spike Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 still it doesn't match the next line "Homeland security could kill us as" as much as talking about what did American do with homeland security as an excuse A little aggressive, my apologize. I always thought that line, following the mention of 9/11, was a reference to conspiracy theories about the government arranging the attack.
green day is Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Or, when things seem suspicious to some extent, you're also free to speculate as to what might have gone on when things clearly don't add up. Which we've done a billion other times in a billion other threads. OP just wanted to talk about what we know about the tracklist assuming it exists. Still baffles me that that thread hasn't been merged yet. You're not the special snowflake you think you are. oh ouch
brndnsc1996 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 does anyone have more info on this? I just recently put it on ebay and I'd like to find out some more info. Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321332264052?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Todd Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It's a bootleg, not a promo of any sorts.. I forget what's on it, but nothing that you can't get from our downloads section
Spike Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 does anyone have more info on this? I just recently put it on ebay and I'd like to find out some more info. Thanks.http://www.ebay.com/itm/321332264052?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Merging this with the Q&A thread. As Tman said, it's a bootleg. Not remotely worth the money.
Desmond of December Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 No, it's fine. Of course Homeland Security ties in both with 9/11 and Mexico, but I don't get how they could "kill us all". I think that's the weak lyric, not the previous parts Mexico and Berlin War really could kill us all, and ever since 9/11 American government has been using it as an excuse to watch over the world, it really could kill us all I always thought that line, following the mention of 9/11, was a reference to conspiracy theories about the government arranging the attack. although indeed American government has grown more powerful than ever cuz of 9/11, i still couldn't believe they could actually kill their own people to archive that, not to mention thousands of them.
Guest Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 "From Mexico to the Berlin Wall" echoes "From Anaheim to the Middle East" in JOS, which is kinda cool.
