So back in the downloads there's a small clip with an early Nimrod setlist.

In the setlist there are 2 songs that never appeared in the final record. Either that or they were retitled later on. Anyone know anything about Alfred E Normal and 19th Nervous? haha

I believe 19th Nervous is referring to 19th Nervous Breakdown, originally by The Rolling Stones. As for Alfred E Normal, no idea.

I don't recall "Alfred E. Normal" being talked about but "19th Nervous Breakdown" is a Rolling Stones song Green Day tried to cover. Unfortunately Billie couldn't get the vocals right so it was never completed.

That's cause there are no details. We've known about it from that list but that's all.

I did have to double check by googling it to be fair. And he did make reference to other musicals in the song, eg "bullets over broadway", so it's understandable!

Pretty much what everyone else said, there are no details on Alfred E Normal, but another song they were gonna do was Elvis Costello's Allison, that one didn't cut it either :)

No one knows, since it isn't in the lyrics book and they haven't talked about it.

Other notable examples - the end of Hitchin' A Ride and part of Reject, both of which Billie has admitted are just nonsense.

They were going to put a cover song on Nimrod?

Im sure it was probally for a single b side more so than the actual album

Who knows. They tried recording it at least. They record like 40 songs for each album though, right? I know they had a ton for Nimrod, 21Cb, and the trilogy. But I'm sure if they really liked a song, they'd release it somehow, whether that be on a single, a comp, or a live album

My personal theory is that they're saying "sing it with me, whooaahh", sarcastically inviting the listener to join in singing this totally negative song, the last song you'd expect to have a singalong with. And instead of singing along with a happy "whoa" like you would in a happy song, they sing a miserable sounding cynical "whoa". Hopefully I've heard that right because if so it's awesome.

Always thought it was "say my baby woah". Makes about as much sense as anything on Insomniac really,
