WhiteTim Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 You might want to read this. Green Day has never flat out stole a song meaning didnt change a single note nor word and then copyrighted and claimed it as theirs... I havent seen GD take a old blues song that wasnt copyrighted (cause black artists in the late 1800s-early 1900s couldnt get their songs copyrighted) and copyright it and then give interviews how they "came up" with the song... Theres a big different between re using a melody to create a new song and flat out stealing a song verbatim...

I didn't realise Cash had actively claimed he came up with songs he didn't though, but it doesn't come as much of a surprise. It seems to be quite a common thing for country artists to copyright songs they didn't write though, a hell of a lot of the songs have been around for years. Similarly, didn't The Dubliners copyright Whiskey In The Jar?
Guest Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Similarly, didn't The Dubliners copyright Whiskey In The Jar? Better them than Metallica
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Better them than Metallica Pretty sure they didn't though
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Billie Joe sings pretty high when they cover sweet child of mine. I don't know where that registers. As for the falsettos on 21 guns and RHS, are they real? It's just that he never seems to properly repeat them live.
Guest Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Pretty sure they didn't though I don't really care. The Dubliners are shite anyway
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I don't really care. The Dubliners are shite anyway You know your band isn't very good when Metallica do a vastly superior version of a song.
Guest Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 You know your band isn't very good when Metallica do a vastly superior version of a song. I don't care what the folk/trad purists say, Metallica did the definitive version of that song.

I have the feeling RHS and Oh Love both have faked falsettos, though. They just sound off to me.

Whenever I hear 21 Guns live, it just sounds really shouty and nowhere near as polished as the album version. It's been a while since I heard a live version, though.

I think its easier to do falsettos in studio than live as in studio u can just track it seperately as oppose to having to sing it in one part as you do live in concert

There's definitely some form of pitch correction on the studio version of 21 Guns. It's mild but enough to notice. That's probably why he only goes falsetto on the last chorus when they do it live. That said, the entire song is vastly superior live compared to the studio version.

Ahh gotcha Gotta re listen to em more closely next time I listenbto 21st
Spike Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 No, if you listen to just the vocal track on RHS, it is very edited That'll be why it's by far Billie's best vocal
Certified Nimrod Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 No, if you listen to just the vocal track on RHS, it is very edited We don't all have that privilege
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Is there a recording of him doing a falsetto live then?
