So doesn't that mean that those EPs featured Sobrante and not Tre?

In order:

1989- 1000 Hours - John

1990- 39/Smooth - John

1990- Slappy - John

1990- The Big One compilation - John

1990- Sweet Children- John

1991- Kerplunk - Tre

1994- Dookie - Tre

1995-Insomniac- Tre

Do I need to go any further?

Stop thinking about 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Think individual EPs. Look at my list. What's the confusion? The Sweet Children EP was recorded in spring 1990, by Green Day. They recorded some of their old songs, and gave the EP the name of the 1st track. It was not their first EP, it was the last thing they recorded with John.

I guess the part that's messing me up is that they weren't Sweet Children when they recorded Sweet Children.

Exactly. the front cover of the EP wouldn't say "Green Day" :P

They weren't Green Day when they recorded Green Day either :P

I don't actually know this but I hope it's true.

My guess it they probably were when they wrote it, but never got around to recording it along with those other couple of songs in the early days. Then they randomly found themselves with some studio time while on tour in 1990 and thought hey we might as well record those old songs.

They were, sorry to break it to you. They were Sweet Children when they recorded 1000 Hours, but changed to Green Day after they recorded it and before they released it.

You'd recognize the covers of the first 3 pressings, GDBootlegs2010 used them for a few of his covers. I'm sure a lot of people haven't seen the fourth pressing cover though, that's a mess

 Good point. I blame Tman for confusing me by saying the names of EPs at me.

I blame you for being one of those people that's always like "1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours". Seriously. Start going by the individual EPs and the 39/Smooth album, and you won't have to write that whole thing out anymore. You'll also look smarter and won't seem like a newfan.

No, American fast food keeps us constipated until we're old enough to potty train.

Sweet Children, Best Thing In Town, Strangeland and My Generation. The EP was included as the last 4 songs of Kerplunk.
