yes he has a lot of replicas and had different versions thought the years.

i think the ''real one'' broke during woodstock.

It broke many times, but it's a guitar and they can always be fixed, he still uses it. Hell, you can always repair guitars. Billie fixed up the one that he smashed to pieces at iheart

Totally ignorance here: doesn't fix a broken guitar change it?

Did I not say that a few posts above?

Well it depends on how broken it is. billie had to glue chunks of the body back together after iheart... Sometimes things need to be replaced though. But you can always find a replacement part, it's like fixing a car. You can order the same pieces to replace them.

And it doesn't change the sound in any way?

Kurt Cobain used to fox nearly all of his smashed guitars back up.

And it doesn't change the sound in any way?

It depends on a vast number of things, but when it comes to an electric the answer is not drastically. The quality of the wood matters much less there, but to some extent, depending on how damaged it's gotten, it could change the sound. If you were to be a good enough Luther to fix up a smashed acoustic (which is a pipe dream, basically) it would change so fucking much since every bit of the sound comes from the wood there.

I think if you were to play your electric without plugging in, smash it, then rebuild it there might be a more noticeable difference, but when plugged in it doesn't matter nearly at all.

I think so. You ask a person on the street about Green Day, and they're most likely gonna say "oh, the 'I'm not fucking Justin Bieber' guy?". That's who Green Day are to a lot of people now. They might have heard one or two songs, Green Day are losing their mainstream appeal fast. The general public is a fickle bitch.

We can agree to disagree then. Not so much about the mainstream appeal aspect, but what they're known for, for sure.

I guess I'm one of the few optimistic people who thinks they'll get into the HOF quick. Again, not that it matters, but that's just what I believe. And I'm not saying that as a fangirl or even a fan. I know anything can happen, but that's what I objectively believe.

Couldn't disagree more with you. Most people I've ever talked to casually about them know them as something for their music ("Oh the band that does Wake Me Up When September Ends", or "Oh those guys who played Basket Case"). No doubt iHeart got a huge amount of mainstream traction, but I feel pretty confident in saying most people know of them for their music.

Agreed. I'd say the "American Idiot/Time of Your Life" band is what most people know them as. Or at least the ones I've spoken to.

I feel like the mainstream attraction iHeart did get was "oh, there goes that crazy Green Day guy" for maybe a day or two, and then no one cared. A blip on the radar, per se. It's not like the daily/weekly Miley or Britney meltdown story, where it's beaten to death in the mainstream media. I really don't even think a lot of non-entertainment news savvy people would remember much about it at this point. But then again, I'm speaking as someone who is clearly following the story heavily, not someone on the outside. I have no clue what that perspective is like.

I've always said that in general, Green Day is more well-known in the US than in the UK. Over here, people'd probably know them for AI and BOBD and that's about it. Maybe Basket Case too. Oh and iHeart too, but certainly not for much else.

That's odd that iHeart was such a big deal over there. Just a minor news story here.

Well I wouldn't say it was a big deal, but it did a better job of bringing Green Day to prominence than their music did in 2012 - that's for certain!

What time frame did Billie get the photostrip tat?

I believe it was early 2005, between the UK tour and Milton Keynes gig sometime. I might be wrong.

Some kind of archtop. Some of them are incredibly hard to identify as many are truly unique. The lack of name on the headstock and the bizarre paintjob makes it really hard to identify. I've been trying to work it out myself for months.

Are there any recordings of Like A Rat Does Cheese apart from the version they did on the radio along with Dominated Love Slave that time?
