Albums are calculated by the whole album being purchased

What happened with gda and the 21st century breakdown demo? Did they leak it and get in trouble or what?

It was posted on a Brazilian Green Day site, they said they got it from Warner Brazil and had permission. I put it up on GDA and within about an hour got an email from Warner legal telling me to take it down or be sued. Sent an angry email to Green Day's management, got a phone call from them apologizing that the legal team reached me before they could, but asked if I kept if off GDA and GDC since it wasn't authorized by any of them. Then asked me some questions to see if I could help them figure out how it leaked. It was a stressful day for me. I hate feeling like I'm in trouble with Green Day. Wasn't the first time, and it has happened since, but still never pleasant.

I probably worded that badly - then there is no fair comparison now because of single sales on iTunes.

You worded it right

I was laughing at the pic

It still a fair way to judge as far as albums cause single songs are juged by its own way

But what about the comparison of albums before iTunes & albums when iTunes was in existence - can you make the comparison because it gives the purchaser the opportunity to select multiple songs from the album rather than just buy the album.

Well more albums are bought on line nowadays

But they have charts for single song purchases as well tho I believe those arent on the public sites

I know blue has gotten dirty plenty of times, Woodstock 94 could still be there dunno if he cleans the guitar of not it looks like age and dirt to me though.

There have been different necks on Blue throughout the years.

May I ask what else got you in trouble with them?

Specifically, I don't really want to say. Some of those things might be a bit more revealing of personal things with the band. Most of it has been things we've posted that they asked us to take down, or occasionally a pre-emptive request not to post about something.

I understand :)

One I remember was a video/song posted from a sound check that they asked you to remove because the band didn't want it out there. Always thought that was kind of shitty since the sound check was in the outdoors and kind of "free" for the world to hear.

I would love to know that, it's really weird :P

Yeah, that was more of a "we really don't want this shitty sounding version of an unfinished song floating around". I think they knew it would happen (someone recording a shitty phone version of it), but they didn't want GDA broadcasting it out to the world.

Was that song Stay the Night?

I don't remember these things.

Me neither.

But I also don't remember it being shitty quality. If I remember correctly it was pretty good and so was the song but they didn't want the world to hear it. Oh well, whatever, it happened and was removed. End of that story. :)

Yeah, that's a public record, goddammit! Pretty sure they couldn't sue or anything if it's something recorded in the open, if it was like an open venue or whatever. (Like the Stay the Night video below.)

Omg, I listened to that video so many times in 2011-12 it's probably considered unhealthy. :P

It's not public record though, it's still their song and they still own the copyrights to it and the right to choose how it's published or broadcast. They (the band/management) have never threatened to sue me, it's more of a "please respect our wishes so we can all get along better." The record label is another issue all together. Warner legal can be pretty aggressive. Thankfully I have a good enough relationship with Green Day's management that Warner legal hasn't given us many problems.

And you want to keep the relationship on good terms for any future "tidbits" they may want to throw your way going forward! I totally get it.

A friend of mine still can't log in to IN, a few weeks ago she send a complain here: info@gdidiotnation.com, but they haven't send a respond, is there another email where she can send the complain?
