Spike Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Thanks for the info, very interesting! The producer mentioned wasn't that of Kill The DJ, though. I guess I wasn't clear about that. He's most famous for his work with Madonna, I can't seem to find any mention of Green Day.

Or maybe their producer came down with the sniffles and he stood in for the day? Who knows? Also this is the song that Carpe Diem ripped off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNtanM-Ap90

Maybe they ripped off a song that he wrote for Madonna or something, heh. Thanks for the videos. Cheeky buggers! 37 songs, I wonder how many of them are ACTUALLY original.

Certified Nimrod Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That horrifying moment when you realise that the only original song on the Trilogy was Nightlife. There's Joint Aktion song (the guy that does the Dookifieds) that has a part that sounds just like Missing You. And it came out years before.
Spike Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Ok, here's one: There seems to be a lot of confusion around the net for some reason. Have Green Day ever covered, live or in the studio, Closing Time by Semisonic? I know the latter isn't the case, but maybe there's some rarity I don't know about, heh.
MaraGreenDay Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I saw this video around Facebook so i was wondering, is it real?! I mean, is this really Billie, is a real prank or it was plane?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFVkOeUkD0k I laugh so hard at this, i'm not gonna lie

Not in the studio, and not a full version live. They may have touched part of it in a King for a Day medley or something, but probably not. Where's the confusion?

And I found an mp3 download of it a few years ago, and when I played it it was just the original Semisonic version. There seems to be some bizarre idea that, at the very least, Mike wrote it because the rhythm is similar to When I Come Around. Which is obviously utter crap, it sounds nothing like it and Mike has about as much to do with it as I do.
Jollyroger118 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Are all these similar riffs and whatnot used with permission if that's the right term? I've seen a ton of stuff that claims Green Day ripped it off but that doesn't really bother me I just wanna know if they at least asked

green day is Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 If they credit the artist in the booklet, that means they asked. It isn't really that simple, I think. Wait for WhiteTim to explain it.
WhiteTim Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 It isn't really that simple, I think. Wait for WhiteTim to explain it. Pretty much is... For the other songs that sounds like other songs if they aren't credited then the band and label are taking a huge risk by not clearing the songs (which is actually common...) or they are changed enough to not require a clearence

WhiteTim Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 There is more to it but when you boil it down and without going into a long and boring detailed report it boils down to getting the publisher's clearences
IamTheJudge's-Daughter Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 hey everyone got a little question... hope you can help Every year my hometown orchestra is giving a little concert.. its more a fun thing. For this i wanted to ask if anyone knows where to find good arrangements of green day songs for orchestra, maybe a medley would be nice...? But i have to say that without guitars those fast songs sound a bit freaky for my taste so i thought of songs like brutal love for example..? but im happy for every guess hope anyone can help me it would be so great to do a green day song next concert thank you

I laugh so hard at this, i'm not gonna lie It's not really Billie, Green Day were on tour and played a show that night so there's no way he would've been tucked up in bed at home at that time. Plus I'd find it very hard to believe they'd have his home number anyway and if you listen carefully you can hear it's not his voice. I'm not sure they were even trying to pretend it was really him, I think they just wanted to do a "Wake Me Up When September Ends" joke. Quite funny anyway though

Hermione Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 It was recorded in 2006, Green Day weren't on tour then. That's weird, I'd heard before that it was from 2005 and that was the case. Would they even do a WMUWSE joke in 2006? It'd be pretty out of date. But anyway I still don't think it's him for the other reasons, they wouldn't have his number, the reaction sounds fake, and you can hear it isn't his voice.

MaraGreenDay Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Then i think we'll never know, thanks anyway!
