Green Day Q&A Thread

Yeah, I've had a quick listen to a few tracks and didn't think Uno was that special. That said, the backing vocals in the chorus of Stay The Night are way louder, which is a massive improvement. I'd buy it on the strength of that alone. Amy, DRB and X Kid all sound marginally better too.

The background vocals don't sound any louder to me, but Amy is definitely amazing, Angel Blue, Sweet 16, Rusty James, the drums on Oh Love all sound much better!

The Drunk Bunny is the Drunk Bunny. No clever joke there, I'm afraid.

Are the HDtracks THAT different?

From a technical standpoint...I'm not sure how EXACTLY they sound better....they do sound more clearer. From a Green Day fan's standpoint...I love the little change they did to Homecoming. ;)

What change?

Just a small change. During Nobody Likes You they added TV noises to the background audio. They were actually on Homecoming before the HD Tracks release but only on the 2nd release vinyl version of American Idiot. :)

The HDTracks of AI is just the vinyl press with loudness added (there's a youtube video showing the loudness war winning)

That's so Meller.

If you listen to the 128kbps song on your itunes compared to the HDTracks version with headphones, to me it sounds more real, like, you can hear each instrument clearly, and not just a mass of noise.

That's because 128kbps sounds like ass regardless. Why would you inflict that on yourself, it's 2013 for fuck sake.

That's like saying that if you eat a pile of cow shit, the prime rib tastes much better by comparison. Come on, Tman, you know better than that. 192kbps is the absolute, bare-bones minimum you should be listening to with headphones (hell, in ANY format) these days. Ideally, go lossless, or 320kbps if space is an issue.

Having listened to both an AI CD rip (lossless) and the AI HDtracks, I've gotta say there wasn't a huge difference for me. They both sounded great, but not appreciably different.

hey, that's what bitrate the itunes tracks are. Unless you manually change your settings, itunes would try to convert everything to 128kbps

Do you seriously use iTunes?

Like for realsies?

Did somebody say 128 Kbps?

This world is getting scary.

Dude, change the settings. It's not that hard. I use iTunes as well for my iPod's sake (160GB classic, last of a dying breed), but it's set to import everything as Apple Lossless, and I use dbPowerAmp to make sure my FLAC files are converted to that format.

AI sounds so much better--shit, everything sounds so much better--as a HQ lossless file.

I have my settings the way I like, I was just saying that to the average music listener, who doesn't know much about audio files, and just follows the default itunes conversions, that the HDTracks version would sound a lot better

Where does green day have band practice? And is there pictures or recordings of there rehearsals anywhere?

Sorry for my ignorance or if this is a stupid question, but I have just discovered that Cigarettes and Valentines is on Awesome as Fuck! I hadn't realised that! Has there ever been a studio version, or have they only played it live?

Only live unfortunately, the recording on Awesome As Fuck is the best recording of it.
