Asa. Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hold on let me call him up and ask. Gettin' real tired of your shit, Zack
green day is Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 She is actually a real person. She was Billie's piano teacher and she is the person that did the interview with Billie at 5 years old (that little clip at the start of the International Superhits version). That's wrong though. How was that a stupid question? He could have mentioned it in an interview that I never saw. Maria could be some famous person that I haven't heard of (since I don't care about most celebrities). Maria could represent a group of people. How should I know? Just because you don't know doesn't mean that the only possible way to find out is to "call him up and ask." "Maria" is generally considered among fans to be a metaphor for punk rock, assuming that it isn't about a real person. Billie Joe has not said anything regarding whether she's a real person or not, but we can't just assume she is. There's about a million resources for song meanings like this and your head is one of the best ones. Seconding that I'd try Song Meanings dot com.

He's been known for picking girls names quite randomly for songs. If anything he wrote the song and then remembered Marie and that interview and that's why it's at the beginning on IS. Remember that the song was on the Waiting single sans interview before it was on IS. There's no way the song is actually about his piano teacher.
Jollyroger118 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I never thought of Maria being about Punk Rock. That's the coolest thing ever, like Ashley being about addiction (which it totally is). But my question is can someone give me a link to wherever they confirmed Too Much Too Soon was a Cigarettes and Valentines track?

There's a post on GDA somewhere but the link in it is dead. Hope someone can post a link where you can actually listen to it.

green day is Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Was that hard? If you think I was being immature at first you probably shouldn't shoot that same immaturity right back once I've given what you feel is a reasonable response. That's just hypocrisy.

Hermione Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I highly doubt Maria is about a middle aged piano teacher . Just because she was called Maria it doesn't mean the song is about her or named after her, there's loads of people called Maria! Since as far as I know Billie's never said the song is about a specific person I assume he just picked that name randomly or because he liked it or thought it suited the character. However that wasn't a stupid question at all. Billie's written many other songs about real people which we know because he's said so in interviews. That could well have been the case with Maria so it was a perfectly sensible question. I'm gonna keep saying it as long as people keep asking us stupid questions. Please don't, I don't want useless spam posts in this thread.
whatever Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 What will Green Day do when the tour over? They will continue to concerts or what?

fatherotti Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 If Haushinka was recorded during Dookie...then that would mean Jinx as well right?
green day is Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 If Haushinka was recorded during Dookie...then that would mean Jinx as well right? Not necessarily. It isn't on the demos or anything.
Todd Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 If Haushinka was recorded during Dookie...then that would mean Jinx as well right? No, they are two different songs, just play into each other. Their themes and topics have nothing to do with each other, and if they were supposed to be together, than they would be together on the demos

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Never used this thread before, but my sister asked me a question I don't know the answer to. What kind of dog is Rocky? (Burning question, I know. ) Anyone know? I'm dumb when it comes to dogs.

WalkingContradictionPL Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I've got a question concerning Japanese edition of Tre!. Everywhere are information about the version with Nuclear Family as a bonus, but there was also an edition with more live tracks, like Kill the DJ or 99 Revolutions. Was this second edition a digital one or a normal release on CD? Or it was an unoffical release? edit: Nevermind. I found the answer here.
Jason Fox Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I've gotta, erm... weird question, and it is possibly un-answerable. Does anyone know what that sound at the beginning of See You Tonight is? It's been really bugging me, and I thought it was the plugging of a cord into a guitar, but I don't know.
