Todd Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 When did Billie (If he ever did) get his teeth fixed? They used to be pretty bad
Guest Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Hello Boys and Girls, i was wondering if billie can actually read notes. And dont tell me that he is writing the songs... you can do that without reading notes. From an 1995 interview with billie: "Basically, it wasn't like guitar lessons because I never really learned how to read music. So he just taught me how to put my hands on the thing." Is he NOW able to read notes? Would be cool to know that. Thanks! (now the right thread/section? ) Depends. Reading notes on different instruments can be tricky. As Ola said in the thread, he had piano lessons, so I assume he could read piano music. But without proper training I doubt he'd ever bother to learn to read sheet music for guitar, and besides, with his songs being very straightforward, it's not like he needs to.

(now the right thread/section? ) I remember he mentioned around the time of American Idiot the musical that it was weird to see his songs written in sheet music because he can't read it. So unless he's learned in the last year or two, I guess not.
petros Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 No he can't read music... In an interview for Rolling Stone they talked about the trilogy he said he can't read music and it was weird to see those papers that contained the music he created but didn't know how to read them. Edit:Here's the article. He says it in the start.

Neutral Milk Hotel Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Does this article say that the final version of Amy had bass and strings? Or just the demo? Because, what happened to them? http://gdaimages.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/rollingstone_061912_2.jpg

Judges daughter 93 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 It has bass on it just mixed low I'm really sorry, but I'm not able to hear ANY sound of bass in "Amy", even the slightest. Re-listening in progress
Guest Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm really sorry, but I'm not able to hear ANY sound of bass in "Amy", even the slightest. Re-listening in progress It's definitely there. Pretty sure Mike is listed in the performance credits in it. Or there was an interview confirming it.

green day is Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 How did D.U.I and Mechanical Man surface? Mechanical Man is on the soundtrack of Live Freaky! Die Freaky!, it's an official track. I'm p.sure DUI was on some promos of Shenanigans.
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Have Jason White or Freese contributed to the writing process of any songs?
WhiteTim Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Have Jason White or Freese contributed to the writing process of any songs? Freese probally not White and Billie came up with the Makeout Party solo together it seems im sure other trilogy songs he had input on but as far as a flat out "this is written by Jason White" no
green day is Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Have Jason White or Freese contributed to the writing process of any songs? In Cuatro Jason White seems to have been in the studio for most of the process, so I can't imagine him not contributing to the writing of the trilogy in some way, most likely the lead guitar parts. Jason Freese is credited in 21CBD for piano but I don't know if he wrote anything. Billie wrote a lot of it, but Jason might have added some stuff since he has more piano experience. Also IDK who's credited for playing saxophone on the Static Age, but he might've written it since he plays it live. Do we have any idea who plays piano on Knowledge?

In addition to Knowledge, who played/wrote the sax lines on KFAD.

Gregorovich Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 To those who own 21CB on vinyl: I've bought the 3-LP edition, which cuts the second disc between Last of the American Girls and Murder City. How is the transition handled? Does the beeping fade in/out or does it just cut off?

How is the transition handled? Does the beeping fade in/out or does it just cut off?The answer for that will determine if it was made for vinyl or if they just slapped some mp3s on there
Gregorovich Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 The answer for that will determine if it was made for vinyl or if they just slapped some mp3s on there Indeed. I realised this only after purchasing.
Red Lights Flash Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Watching some videos from recent shows.. Is anyone else missing some pyro here and there? ("Bang bang says the broken glass" without the bang bang, for example)
green day is Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 What all GD songs are in time signatures other than 4/4? I know Rest is in 3/4 and I heard Dearly Beloved is in something else.
tubbyfox Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Has anyone heard any of the Trilogy singles played on the radio in the UK? I isten to the radio most days and I haven't heard anything yet and still I patiently wait for X-Kid to play, which I think is particularly radio friendly. I mainly listen to Absolute who usually play quite a lot of Green Day so I'm quite surprised.
