jumpsalty Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Before you figured out the true meaning of Having A Blast, did anyone else think it was about break up rage? For me its still a break up song. Here's how I change it up so it sounds more like a break up song. This is how I originally heard it. I don't know, I still choose to hear this way. Its the song I used to listen to after a break up. Ticking..are you done with me?Emotions running through my spine Nothing's gonna change my mind I won't listen to anyone's last words There's nothing left for you that's safe Soon you'll be dead anyway Well, no one is getting out alive This time I've really lost my mind and I don't care So close your eyes and kiss yourself goodbye And think about the times we've spent and what they've meant To me it's nothing I'm losing all my happiness The happiness you pinned on me Loneliness still comforts meI hate you still welts inside of me I'm taking it all out on you And all the shit you put me through You got the first line wrong. "I'm taking all you down with me". It's also "there's nothing left for you to say". Seriously man, you're trying to decipher the meaning of a song and you don't even know the lyrics. And it's about suicide bombings apparently.

Um..I know what the song is about and I do know the actual lyrics. I just said that it was my original interpretation of the song and the lyrics. I didn't say that's the what the lyrics actually were. I just listen to it as break up song, not a song about chaos. My opinion man.

Todd Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Lol is this true? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9CjcQSbVb4&feature=youtu.be&t=1m48s Lol? It's not very funny When It's Time: "Billie Joe wrote this song during American Idiot, but decided not to use it in the album. The unreleased documentary "Heart Like A Hand Grenade" shows Billie Joe recording the song with Rob Cavallo during sessions for 'American Idiot'. During the formation of the musical, he showed the song to director Michael Mayer to see if they could use it during the show. Green Day recorded this song as a bonus song for the American Idiot Musical album." I thought it was written before AI, and how do we know it was in HLAHG?

Yes it was written when he was 19 but recorded for the American Idiot album. Also HLAHG when previewed at a cinema in 2007 or 2008 and some people attended it. Andres was one of those people as well.GDA is wrong yet again! Yes, because between a bunch of we can song meanings for everything, lyrics, biographies, equipment and so much more and not make one mistake. It happens. No need to be a dick about it.

IsaGreenDay Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Why do some people say that Billie sings with a fake british accent? I never noticed that, can someone give me an example of it?
LazyPhil Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Why do some people say that Billie sings with a fake british accent? I never noticed that, can someone give me an example of it? I don't know, I'd also like to know, but he did say that he sounds like an "Englishman impersonating an American impersonating an Englishman"
HolyHandGrenade Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Why do some people say that Billie sings with a fake british accent? I never noticed that, can someone give me an example of it? It's still pretty sketchy, but I think when people say that, they mean his more nasally vocals from the 90's, especially Insomniac.
Hermione Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Why do some people say that Billie sings with a fake british accent? I never noticed that, can someone give me an example of it? As mentioned above Billie's described it that way himself, saying "I sound like an Englishman impersonating an American impersonating an Englishman" . He doesn't really sound English but there are English sounding aspects to the way he sings. He sounds American overall but there's some little English elements like some of the vowel sounds and the way he drops his "h"s. An example would be the way he sings "hope" when he sings "I hope you had the time of your life". It did used to be more obvious in the 90s when he was singing in a more snotty punky way, I guess there's just some natural English sounding elements to that style of singing. He's toned it down now but it's still there.

ThibautDookie Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 What is that Insomniac background, i mean the huge sign behind the band during live shows from 1995-1996 represents ? I always wanted to know !
21guns&novacaine Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Does anyone know what the song off of iTrè! 'Drama Queen is about??? it's not fairly clear.
Jean Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I know that Kill the DJ was released as a single in the UK but I was wondering why it wasn't in the states. It's catchy and I think it would have done well. Is it because of the Aurora theatre shooting that happened in July?
Todd Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Does anyone know what the song off of iTrè! 'Drama Queen is about??? it's not fairly clear. It's about celebrities like Lindsay Lohan who are just exposed to the world so early that they lose their innocence. There's a 2009 article on it, somewhere in GDA's scans, if anybody could post a link to that, I really should save it
