BillieJoe1972 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Does anyone remember from past tours how far in advance of the shows Green Day/Idiot Nation would have contests for things like entry to the sound check? I'm hoping they will have some contests but I don't know if they would have announced them already since the tour is starting soon.

Soundchecks always have good songs!
pasalaska Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Make sure to record it if you get in. Soundchecks always have good songs! They don't let you record or film soundchecks if you're lucky enough to get into one. The band's crew are very vigilant about this; it's their laid-back, private practice time that you've been lucky enough to be allowed to see, it's good courtesy. As for the question, I think early entry type contests for the 2010 Europe tour were generally open a couple weeks or so before shows, but winners were only announced a few days beforehand.

Thanks for the info!! I just couldn't remember how far in advance it was previously. So maybe there's still a chance they may hold a contest for something like this. I really hope so!!

So maybe there's still a chance they may hold a contest for something like this. I really hope so!! I'm fairly sure that there's not going to be contests for soundcheck entry, or at least it won't be a regular thing, simply because from what I hear certain roadies don't like fans watching, after all it is their time to be working and making sure the show will go as planned - it's not supposed to be a performance, and the fans can cause distraction. I only remember the odd, rare occasion where there's been a one-off contest to get into them.
Hermione Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 the only time i can ever remember fans being allowed into soundcheck was the 21cb tour in 2009. i got into the soundcheck in nashville but it wasn't a contest or anything. they just gave out passes to the people at the front of the line, and since the tour was sponsored by verizon they also gave some passes to people who had verizon phones. i'm pretty sure that was just a thing they did because of verizon and not because of green day. They did have a few Idiot Club-run contests to get into soundcheck during the European tour. They had early entry contests for pretty much every show, and for a small few of them that included getting to see the soundcheck as well. So there is a small chance of it.

SuperXCsabre495 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Could the American Idiot bonus tracks fit into the storyline of American Idiot? (Too Much Too Soon, Shoplifter, Governator, Favorite Son, etc.)
Hermione Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ohhh okay! i remember hearing about the early entry contests, i think they might have had some of those for u.s. dates too, but i never heard about soundcheck contests. i feel like if they do contests like that for this tour they probably won't announce them for at least another week or two. Yeah, as far as I remember it was always quite near the time of the show that they did them. I'm sure if and when they're announced on the IC people will post about it on here in any case.

I know the videos you are referring to, those are indeed videos of sound checks, but importantly they were all filmed from public places, outside the concert area (that is, no one had got into the fenced-in, ticketed areas), so that's fair-game really. In my previous posts I was talking about getting invited in to watch the show by security or the band's crew. A roadie is a member of the band's crew that sets up the stage, gets instruments ready, keeps the show running in the background while the show's ready, and then packs up after the show is done.
Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 What month did Adie move to CA? Wasn't it about a month before they got married? (Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) So that would make in about June?
jesusofamericanidiots69 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 so, does anybody know if Green Day plans to release another album in maybe late this year (2013) or sometime in 2014? or if they have another album planned at all? i'm a bit behind on recent news so i just thought i'd ask *_*

After how much stress they've been put under, I kind of hope they aren't planning anything yet.

The only plans I think Green Day has planed for the next couple years is the 99 Revolutions Tour, ¡CUATRO! and Broadway Idiot

JIGD13 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 And hopefully Cinco: Live from ? Any country in Latin America
HolyHandGrenade Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Any country in Latin America I agree. White people are embarrassing at concerts (not racist, it's true). For Latin America it's like a party. Just think of the shenanigans Billie Joe could get into! 'Merica humiliates me

alienlifeform Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 why people think that the trilogy was recorded live?
WhiteTim Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 why people think that the trilogy was recorded live? From Cautro plus from multiple articles that mentions it if it wasnt they wouldnt have needed Jason on the albums The vocals werent recorded live just the music
alienlifeform Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 From Cautro plus from multiple articles that mentions it if it wasnt they wouldnt have needed Jason on the albums The vocals werent recorded live just the music we see them rehearsing on cuatro and not recording... and the acticles say that the band "wanted" a live sound..and not say the them recors the instruments live.. they were just looking for a raw sound.. and a proof that the guitars wasn't recorded live is that are some tracks where you can hear the exact moment where a solo guitar jumps into the music without the other 2guitar lines stop playing
