Micky Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Still resisting I listened to the singles only (plus Nuclear Family).
Bastard of 1967 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I haven't yet. I'm not crazy. But I like to go into an album not knowing anything. With Green Day, I always close myself off from the world and listen to the entire album through on its release day. Been doing it since Warning. Green Day was big for me in high school...nimrod was life changing to me. Anyone else or am I the only one? haha I respect the views of anyone who's deliberately chosen to save themselves for street day. My own personal belief, however, is that life's too damn short to have to wait to hear great new music. If it's dropped in any form, the band says it's finished, and they want us to listen to it if we want to, I say go for it.

If it's dropped in any form, the band says it's finished, and they want us to listen to it if we want to, I say go for it. I don't disagree with that; I've definitely done the same in the past. This time around, I just want to approach the first listen with fresh ears! My opinions aren't colored by overplaying any of the singles or leaked material. Every song is going to be brand new to me, which hasn't been true since Insomniac. Somebody mentioned somewhere that they're on a self-imposed Green Day ban until release day. As of yesterday, I'm doing the same. It's nice digging into the more neglected parts of my music collection.

The reason why I won't spoil anything of Uno (except the singles) is this sacred moment of your first listen. You know.. laying in your bed, getting out the booklet and read the lyrics while hearing most of the songs for the first time. This is just a priceless and special moment of music to me. And I hope I'm not alone with this opinion
Annie, get your gun Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm waiting 'til "25th" as well... I want it to be a surprise. BUT, I must admit, and I'm kind of dissapointed of myself about it, I listened to Fell For You 'cause the damn leak from Billie Joe left me wanting for the whole thing. It's wonderful, btw. But other than that, nothing nothing.

For me, I want to be a part of sharing and experiencing all this with everyone, not coming in a week late when everyone is done and over it.Ya know?

For me it's just so I can have the enjoyment of going to buy the CD and bringing it home and hearing surprises on it when I listen to it the first time. The first listen of the music would be just as enjoyable if I did it now with the leak or in a few days with the CD, but since I don't mind waiting at all I'd rather wait and get the little bonus of it feeling fun and exciting when I buy the CD instead of it feeling a bit pointless as I've already heard it. Not hearing it at the same time as everyone else is a bit of a downside, but I think people will still be up for talking about it next week so I don't mind. On balance I'd rather do it this way.

Thank you! It's harder to practice self-control in the digital age. Release day is a special day- I want my first listen to be in the car at full blast while I drive around for 40 minutes. Then again at home, with headphones and a lyrics sheet. And again and again. And fucking again.
Katarina. Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 One more day! I can do this, I can do this.. that digital download better be available at midnight

I paid for it and I will listen to it as soon as it's released! It's an official release, I'm sure the quality will be great.
localinsomniac Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 that's exactly what I do. Glad I'm not alone. You are far from alone, friend.
Hermione Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Off to buy the album tomorrow morning. So excited
