Starred Thoughts Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm really enjoying this song. As for it sounding like other songs by other bands, I think that's inevitable with any song that comes out. This song is still awesome. And bass solo ftw.
blvd Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 The only thing that bothers me a little is this line: "Drinking angel's piss, gonna crash and burn". Drinking angel's piss, what the heck? What's that supposed to mean?
Glynnis Stevenson Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Oooh, this is fabulous I like it very muchly
DTH Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 edit: didnt read the comments made before on safe european home.... Topper Headon doesn't stand out on Safe European in the same way that Tre Cool stands out on just about anything he does. LOL. even tre wouldnt let you say that....

blvd Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I love that line Why? What does it mean to you?
DannyDirnt Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Why? What does it mean to you? Nothing. It's funny
Alan86 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 The only thing that bothers me a little is this line: "Drinking angel's piss, gonna crash and burn". Drinking angel's piss, what the heck? What's that supposed to mean? Im pretty sure Angel's Piss is a slang name for a drink that consists of a number of different strong drinks mixed together. The "Crash and Burn" would probably mean passing out after drinking the Angels Piss. Edit: http://www.idrink.com/v.html?id=14267
Annie, get your gun Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I like the song a lot, but was it really necessary to put so much effect on Billie Joe's voice? and the countdown... I was kind of expecting him to say tré, dos, uno... but what the hell
Soroush Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 They are actually amazing at chosing singles. The success of their singles show that. Granted, there may be better songs on an album, but that's not what chosing a single is about. For example, Know Your Enemy was one of the worst songs on 21st CB (and I still love that song), but as a single it was fucking amazing. It was being played during every major sporting event on TV for months. So much more goes into chosing a single then we know about. but how about this album? I'm not talking about beautiful songs. I'm talking about the songs that catch new fans. for us nuclear family is great but for the people who don't know GD it isn't
live freaky die freaky Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 "I just want some action so gimme Mike Dirnt" I'm not the only one who heard that, right ? I heard the same thing ahaha
WestboundSign! Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I completely fell in love with Nuclear Family. That song is brilliant. Definitely one of my favorites of the new ones so far!

Sales-wise and for popularity sake, Know Your Enemy did not do well at all. Sure it was a part of a network deal with college basketball, but that really doesn't say much. In my mind Murder City should have been the 1st single. They puzzled me with Uno as well, in my opinion Oh Love and DJ are easily the low points on the album, Oh Love being much too dragged out and repetitive, just plain unimaginative, and DJ being...eesh I don't even know. I like experimentation but that one fell flat. Nuclear Family is the clear best song off of Uno, right next to Stay the Night. I feel like if they pushed those two out as singles, people (besides us crazy fanantics) would be more excited. I can't tell you how many people I've heard saying how stupid and boring Oh Love is and how sick of it they are already. Not a good sign.
SamMacs Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I like the song a lot, but was it really necessary to put so much effect on Billie Joe's voice? I think that we're gonna have to get used to it. Carpe Diem & Nightlife seems to have a lot of effect on the vocals too so I bet there's more songs on these three albums that are like this.
Bastard of 1967 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 LOL. even tre wouldnt let you say that.... Compare for yourself. Sorry if I disappoint the many Clash fans we have on the board here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mGxueg64ek Don't know whether it's recording quality, technology differences, or what, but you can hear and feel Tre's drum fills standing out in the mix while Topper's kinda mergggggh into the background.

This is exactly what I thought :L Green Day have really been plagiarizing the clash on UNO so far.
Milo Goes To Pasalacqua Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Okay, so we have Oh Love, Kill The DJ, Let Yourself Go and now Nuclear Family. Ain't no way in hell Stay The Night will get to be a single now. Or could it? There's not much time left 'til Uno is released (yay) and then Dos will have to be promoted. Ah well.

Carpe Diem & Nightlife seems to have a lot of effect on the vocals too so I bet there's more songs on these three albums that are like this. I guess we have to, yeah. But I was hoping that they don't do that on every single song... (now I hope Stray Heart is not one of them).

Ah well. well..the UNO deluxe version has a video for STN, so there MUST be a release soon before 21st Sep.
jona92 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if they do release something for Stay the Night within the next week. They seem to be giving us more and more the closer we get to the album release. Stay the Night will be released October 9th
Pixus Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 The countdown in the end was breathtaking! It was like "get ready for multiple eargasms people! THIS IS UNO" kind of feeling. since, it's the first song on the album. :') And, ah I love the solo. Green Day made my day again.
1039SweetChildren Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Stay the Night will be released October 9th Doubt it. That'll probably be the first Dos single. I wouldn't be surprised if another song/video from Uno was unveiled next week.

Well Oh Love also debuted at #1 on the Alternative charts and #7 on the Rock charts...so I'm pretty sure that it was a good call on their part.
LudeBoy Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 holy shit you people are so annoying. shut the fuck up and just enjoy it!
