A local radio station just mentioned this. It was something like "green day have had to cancel a concert in italy due to the frontman billie joe armstrong being hospitalised. The band won't say what's wrong with him"

Kinda weird hearing it on an Irish station, I also kinda got the impression they were being a bit snidy about it when they said "the band won't say what's wrong with him"

Update on Billie

Billie is apparently suffering from gastric flu. Causes vomiting, fatigue, diahrea, dehydration and body weakness. Some things that could cause gastric flu are bad water, unevenly cooked food and not washing food (usually produce) properly durring preparation. Recovery time depends on each individual case and how bad it is but in Billie's case it should take about 3 weeks for a full recovery.

Green Day probably wont be able to perform at the VMAs. This is based of this information. I got this info from a Green Day fanpage. :)

a few days ago Placebo had to cancel a show because Brian Molko came down with gastric flu as well.

It's not the first time, in 1996, Mike had panic attacks during the Insomniac Tour, they cancelled shows

Didn't they cancel allmost a whole tour? Or not that much, but it was alot of shows.

This is sad, I want him to be okay:'( Mike and Tré looks so sad:'(

Billie should rest. He seems tired.. based upon his instragram updates they suggested that he was missing home and was not well during their latest little tour. :(

I'm feeling it for him. Poor guy. He's had a hell of a year. First on broadway, then the record, touring.. maybe just few days off. He needs a little break but can't take any kind of vacation right now.

He's health is the most important thing. Who would like Billie to have some kind of break down or burn out.. I'm feeling it for the fans but i think they still want him to continue to make music rather than die in exhaustion. He is not young anymore. I'm 26 and my hangovers last 3 days now, and i get tired and need more sleep than 10 years ago. wonder what it feels like when you reach 40:P

Peace and love.

yep. i know. i was there. it feels horrible, its already the second time this happens to us. and yeah, of course we wish billie a quick recovery and we trust him when he says they'll be back. but its heartbreaking, really. and it's also good to see that in here people are not just worried about billie joe, but also about how the idiots here in italy feel right now. thats lovely, thank you so much guys. really.

Highly doubt they will cancel the VMA's. The band know how important the exposure from the VMA performance is. Also and I have not had Gastric Flu but have experienced the symptoms with other cases regularly. A 7 minute performance won't be much of a problem. Presuming he load's up on pills before hand. Even if he's sick again minutes later the exposure would be great for them and I'm sure they'll know this.

I don't think he was doing bad on tour. He's naturally going to miss his family, this is just the first time we've had that insight and he's had that platform. These were their first shows outside the us in two years, plus I think the band generally take better care of themselves these days. The fact he didn't play the show is a good indication of that.

I think he's fine :)

Alot of stress, I guess. And I think other things can have caused it to. He hasn't had it easy:(

Maybe i'm just over-reacting. <3

It's not impossible that they may cancel the VMA's. It wasn't any usual stomachache, it's better if he gets some rest. He needs it. Think about how many things they've put themselves up to.

What do you mean by scared, exactly?

That he had stage fright

I'm reading comments by Italian fans (fans?) who are complaing about the fact that Mike and Tré should have came up on stage to say that they couldn't play, instead of staying in the hotel, and that they didn't do it because they're rich rockstars and other bullshit...I'm speechless.

Exactly, maybe they didn't really feel like doing it while knowing Billie was in the hospital. They didn't really look happy, after all, they are a family:'(

I'm really down with the moral about what happened on the I Day festival, but I'm not angry with anyone and I don't blame the guys of anything,it woud be weird :/ I just hope the guys will "repair" those two unlucky events with a date before summer 2013,if possible :( It's so frustating having to wait this much again, like two years ago... :(

The band said they cancelled that tour in 1996 due to exhaustion. They were all exhausted after touring for years on end, and they also mentioned that Mike was having panic attacks because of it. It was all just down to being extremely tired and stressed, so they cancelled the tour and took a break and they were fine :)

I really don't think we need to worry about Billie, sounds like he's had a short illness and is getting better. He'll be fine.

Billie Joe Armstrong

Leaves Hospital

'My Voice is Gone'

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is out of the hospital and back in L.A. following a medical scare ... and upon his arrival Monday, the singer mouthed to TMZ that his voice is completely gone.

The band was supposed to play a show in Italy this weekend, but the guys were forced to cancel the gig when Billie Joe was "rushed to the hospital due to illness."

The rest of the band released a video statement saying, "We're beyond devastated ... We're as sad as you guys are. Billie's extremely upset about it."

The guys never revealed the nature of Armstrong's illness ... but now it's obvious, it has something to do with his throat.

On his way out of the airport, we asked Billie Joe about some other stuff ... but for some reason, he didn't have much to say.

Or he just didn't want to speak to stupid paparazzi :pinch: which is fair enough.

According to Billie's brother, Billie had food poisoning and was dehydrated, but is now doing good. So panic over, people XD

Poor guy has the worst luck with food poisoning in other countries, I swear.
