^ I read comments by people thinking Billie was sick because he was on drugs and/or drunk

I just read a comment made by a hater where he says "I hope he dies, this piece of shit".

Haters!

That's really shocking and worrying that 'fans' would say that. Some people need to take a good look at themselves

It was a hater who posted what I quoted, not a fan.

Very disrespectful thing to say, even if you don't like the band.

Things like this really annoy me. Some people are so selfish and stupid

don't know if it is made by a hater or what, but I hope it's made by an italian fan who wanted only laugh

It's not funny at all, it just pisses me off.

i just ignore dumb comments/pics like this about billie being cruel and doesnt like the italian fans..sickness is a part of life, i think for mike,tré and billie themselves its minimum as hard as for the italian fans that the show got cancelled again

I know Billie is/was sick and all. But I think it's a bigger disaster for the fans than for Green Day themselves, they get paid (I know they don't need and care about the money) for playing there, some people (including my firiend) spent weeks planning this trip and getting all excited, and if you were there only to see green day, you pretty much wasted a shitload of money for bands you don't even know or like. Not to mention the ones who experienced the last "concert" in Italy and went out to see this show. I'm NOT blaming Billie, just to make it clear.

wow! I'm sad to hear this... I hope it's nothing too serious. :S

Glad to know he is feeling better.

I was there and I was so worried about him, I thought it was something really bad! I'm glad he's ok. And it's the second time they had to cancel a show in Italy! This is just bad luck :(

My heart is broken. I was in the third row. I'm so sorry for BJ, I love them so much, and I'll always love them so, but I also realized that my life was depending entirely on their. And I swore to myself that it will never happen again, that my life that my life depends on someone. I love them so much. And they were so near.. and now it's all over. And they won't return back to Italy before next summer... I'll hold on.

From a Bologna news site

UPDATE

Billie Joe Armstrong, 40, has just been released from the hospital Maggiore, where he was admitted this morning. He felt bad and was at the hotel Majestic in Bologna. Canceled a concert scheduled for tonight at North Park: "We'll be back next year"

September 2, 2012

According to what has been learned, Billie has suffered from sharp stomach pains late in the morning, so that has been notified of the 118. The ambulance arrived just before lunch in the hotel in the city center and transported to the hospital. Admitted to the fourth floor, in the Department of Internal Medicine, the lead singer of Oakland, 40 years old, is surrounded by security men. The doctors advised him to spend the night in the hospital.

The singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's leader, has just been released from the hospital Maggiore of Bologna. He felt bad this morning around 12.30 Majestic hotel, where he was staying while waiting for the concert scheduled tonight at the Arena Parco Nord, in the I-Day Festival. The performance was canceled, the announcement at 19.30. "The tickets will be refunded in full," he assured the organization, also read a message from the band that announces, "We will return to Bologna in 2013."

Is not the first time that BJ gets sick in the middle of the tour. I think in all the efforts that make the fans to see Green Day than Billie himself (travel, tickets, hotels, is quite stressful). I know that he will recover, is not the big deal. As human, BJ can get sick too.

It's not the first time, in 1996, Mike had panic attacks during the Insomniac Tour, they cancelled shows

(Also posted this in the I-Day festival topic: )

I wish I could post a review and setlist information here.. Instead, I can only tell you about how I flew from Belgium to Bologna, went to see a Green Day show, only to hear that it was cancelled. But I'm not going to complain too much.. things like this happen, and I had an awesome time, these 4 days in Bologna. Social Distortion was great too.

Here's a cool story though! After the show I was walking around Bologna with my girlfriend, and noticed a big crowd in the main street. I stopped, asked what was going on.. Apparently, Mike and Tre stayed in that hotel, so people were waiting for them to come out. They never showed up though (hotel staff said that they had left already, but people didn't believe that). However, the atmosphere was amazing! People were singing Green Day songs together, there was excitement whenever someone opened a window, we treated everyone who entered or left the building as a celebrity (just for fun).. It was great. :) Later at night, some people actually decided to go inside the hotel because the staff was pissing them off.. this is when it got a little out of control. :P

But anyway, it was really cool to see all those fans together. Even the next morning and afternoon, some people were still there, for the slight chance that they would still be there...

And yeah, I saw so many people walking down the streets of Bologna (and in the airport) wearing Green Day t-shirts. It was fun to see, but definitely sad at the same time. :(

Some pictures from outside the hotel:

Also! I saw this, the cover of a newspaper. It has an 'exclusive picture' (paparazzi-style.. *sigh* :ermm: ) and something about "the rage of 30 thousand fans".

Update on Billie

Billie is apparently suffering from gastric flu. Causes vomiting, fatigue, diahrea, dehydration and body weakness. Some things that could cause gastric flu are bad water, unevenly cooked food and not washing food (usually produce) properly durring preparation. Recovery time depends on each individual case and how bad it is but in Billie's case it should take about 3 weeks for a full recovery.

Green Day probably wont be able to perform at the VMAs. This is based of this information. I got this info from a Green Day fanpage. :)

I think you and/or that fanpage are jumping to conclusions. We don't know what's wrong with Billie and even if he has the flu, he might still say "Fuck it" and play the VMAs. It is after all just one song.

what facebook page is it from? i doubt they'll cancel the VMAS. Can't see how they would even know that either.

And this fanpage know this how?!

Also i would point out the symptoms above don't mention "sharp stomach pains" which are the only confirmed symptom we know he had!

*grumbles i hate speculation leave the poor sick guy to heal*

Now that I look at it, the fanpage doesn't seem that reliable. Sorry about that. I should have thought it threw before I posted this.

I just hope he's okay. My first thought was "I hope it's not appendicitis!" but hearing that he was released is reassuring. It's gotta suck to have to cancel on Italy again. I hope he feels better soon! =/

I'm reading comments by Italian fans (fans?) who are complaing about the fact that Mike and Tré should have came up on stage to say that they couldn't play, instead of staying in the hotel, and that they didn't do it because they're rich rockstars and other bullshit...I'm speechless.

Because that would have been so much better

"Hello crowd. Billie is sick. Bye crowd."

I wish people learned to shut up.

Billie Joe Armstrong Arrives At LAX

Yeah, he looks a shit-ton better in that photo. Assuming that update is factually accurate, odds are that he picked up a Norwalk-like virus on that crazy-ass travel schedule they've had. Those things aren't serious in and of themselves in that they're not going to kill you, but while you're stuck with one it's miserable and absolutely debilitating, and can leave you puking up everything for 2 or 3 days in a really bad case. Recovery is usually pretty quick after you beat the bug itself down, but it still can take several days for you to get your appetite and energy back. Glad to see he's looking so much better so quickly.
