'Walking after dark in the New York City park' and they are showing them riding motorbikes in the desert. jk.

Anyway, I'm not so impressed by this video, it is better than Oh Love, but I only like that last part when they are on the dancefloor, singing and playing.

From what I saw in preview, I expected totally different thing. :tired: Like more blood scenes for example..

Now they're going for advertising fun and everyone in the videos looks like they're dying from boredom… :ermm:

This!

Green Day does own a mobile pirate radio station....Conspiracy time? :toocool:

He uses a lot of explosions?

Marc Webb has made some of my favorite music videos of all time (and, yes, 500 Days of Summer was great too), but he's also made some duds (Last of the American Girls and MCR's Teenagers video spring to mind most readily). The same is true for Sam. Neither of them would have the reputation they do if ALL their videos sucked. But they don't always bat 1000 either. :P

No, he's like Michael Bay in that boils down his music videos/movies into things that only the most passive of people (usually the GA) would enjoy.

Sam Bayer's reputation different. He made one of the most iconic videos of all time in Smells Like Teen Spirit. He's always going to have work. He's put out shit ever since (minus American Idiot, his only other great video). Who wouldn't wanna say they worked with the SLTS guy? [Kill the DJ is better than most videos out right now]

Generalizing much?

But seriously, there's something to be said for that. It's one thing if it's not a literal interpretation, it's another thing if it doesn't match so badly that you NOTICE IT and go "Wait, WTF?" The bikes are cool, I'll take it, but it does go on for a while with little creativity... (I was waiting for them to pop some wheelies). Later, when the line is repeated and they're actually WALKING AFTER DARK (albeit through a club), it starts to really feel right.

I think the video did a good job in that middle part, panning to two people (both women?) making out "Sodom and Gomorrah" and then Green Day as the objective bystanders in the "century of thrills."

They could've done more with this, but I'll take it. My standards are pretty low at this point

Meh. Well, it's better than Oh Love, but that ain't saying much.

Yeah, that's about the size of it as far as I'm concerned. Not terrible, but far from a work of brilliance.

You're standards are pretty low? Wow, that says speaks volumes.

Low standards = You don't expect anything special or even good, just "whatever".

That's a reflection on the band no matter how much people will say it isn't. These are their music videos, they could speak up and say something instead of just kissing Bayer's ass and saying "Oh it's fantastic!". The only way I can see them generally liking these videos is if they enjoy watching themselves in everything, which would be kind of narcissistic. These videos are suppose to be fun, but it seems like they're trying too hard to be "edgy" and explicit.

The intro of the video is just plain boring.

I thought they would blend the shots of the motorbikes through the entire video, but they just used it for the intro.

It just seems a bit uninspired to me.

The rest of the video is ok though, but still I was hoping it would be a bit "more"

I just wish the intro wasn't so boring

I agree 100% that my standards being low is a reflection of the band's music video history. Certain videos that are spectacular make me realize what they're capable of (21CB, INCREDIBLE!) but when they don't replicate that, I'm not so disappointed because I honestly don't really care about music videos to begin with. They're just not that important to me. Sure, sometimes I think it's a shame because they *could* be making incredible works of art, but at the end of the day the only thing I hold them accountable for is making good music (because they're not actors/directors/producers).

Oh come on, they're promoting singles not sprucing up the Sistine Chapel. Music videos as an artform have been worthless since the rap scene arrived.

It seems like Green Day are trying so hard to be edgy, like with the Oh Love music video.

Oooh they showed a nipple in their video! They're so hardcore and against the grain! They don't give a fuck!

Which I find it kind of funny how people say GD don't care about what others think.

They seem to care when it comes to looks. These videos are suppose to be fun and "who gives a shit?", but all the camera work and lighting on them is flattering. We know Green Day can look ugly (Longview), why not be a bit more...I don't know, down to earth?

Kind of hard to be fun and edgy looking when you look like you just stepped off the set of a Proactive Solution commercial.

Oh come on, they're promoting singles not sprucing up the Sistine Chapel. Music videos as an artform have been worthless since the rap scene arrived.

Uh...have you seem the music video Runaway by Kanye West?

Or Power?

Rap had nothing to do with that, sex as been apart of music and music videos since the beginning.

A large portion of R&B, Funk, and even Rock songs are about sex, and their videos and looks reflected that.

Music videos can be an art form. If music can be an art form, then why can't the videos inspired by the music be the same? It all boils down to vision and creativity, neither of which Sam Bayer seems to have, and maybe on a video format Green Day themselves.

Music videos are vital to a band's/artist's image and people's perception to their music.

They're suppose to reflect the mindset and artistic expression that the band/artist is going through at the time

I like it. I think it's better than "Oh Love". ...not like that's really hard to do, but y'know.

Whew! I thought I was gonna wait, but the video was calling to me... And it's really, really good. I love how dead they all are in the club. Their faces, to me, in the context... tell the story of/feelings expressed in the song. Amid what Billie Joe called, speaking of "American Idiot", the "blitzkrieg of bullshit".

Actually MCR was the first thing I thought of when I saw the clips of them on motorbikes in the desert, but... they are their own bikes.

Just gonna say that after hours of trying to upload to youtube in High Definition it said my video was too long (i assume the file was too large) and it wouldn't let me...i now officially hate youtube...not that it matters you guys have the video anyways my day is nearly over and i hate computers!

I liked the video, especially the second verse where green day are just walking in the club like badasses whilst everyone around them is going mental. It's much better than the video for Oh Love or the video for KYE, but still not as good as the videos for American Idiot or WMUWSE.

I enjoyed it. Not necessarily from a Green Day fan's point of view, but as someone interested in a career as a director I'd love to see what Bayer's thought process was behind this one...

Besides that, loved the looks on Mike and Tre's faces when they saw the party going on. Like a combination of fascination and disgust.

This video is awesome

I like the video. Highlight for me is when they enter the club because they just seem so unimpressed by everything around them. The blood was unnecessary.

Posted

i was expecting something along the lines of them walking on to the stage and shooting that fucker down...not bad..but that's 2 video's that could have done with something more!

Is this a hate forum???

Really stop playing the "know-all".It's frustrating...

I really like the video!

They look so badass in the motocycle ride scene

The club part was great when you could see them thinking like "you're a bunch of morons, this is so fucking boring" :lol:So serious and cute!!! :runaround::wub:THAT was something that transmited part of the feeling of the song. What I don't like is people dancing (just like they didn't like that :P ) and the fight didn't make sense, there was too little blood.

I'd have like to see a little bit more performance and... we haven't seen the goddamn chipmunk costume yet!

Awww, does someone having a different opinion from your own hurt your feelings?

Hear that guys? We need to censor ourselves, and only be kiss asses :/

thanks for uploading...

this video is awesome,

especially the end part, when billie said "shoot the fucker down"

and Tre :D

Just ignore post which you don't like and scroll down ;)

I watched it 5 times in a row. It's good. And now I can see why guys are bored. I realised that I look quite the same in clubs

I like the video, but the whole walking in the club thing makes me laugh. Its as if Bayer just recycled BOBD. "Instead of you guys being the only ones moving, Let's reverse it! So everyone is moving around you!" Other than that I love it.
