New Video For Kill The DJ

Yay I like it :runaround:. The boys look like total BAMFs on the motorbikes and walking through the disco, and it's really funky so it fits the vibe of the song perfectly! And the band looking bored/apathetic while surrounded by everyone dancing nearer the end gets across the idea of being sick of the noise and wanting to "kill the fucking DJ" nicely, along with the bit of blood. It's subtly done and maybe could've been a bit more graphic/exciting, but it works and nothing about it annoys me (quite a feat for a Sam Bayer video). I approve

Awesome fucking vid. I love how they looked badass walking through the club.

I thought they looked bored shitless (kind of like the girls in the Oh Love video  )

The first full minute is just them on bikes...went on a bit too long.... It was cool and all, but just too long. That's like 1/3 of the video just them on bikes. Then walking in club looking bored out of their minds... I liked when they were actually playing and when the pushing and shoving started on the dance floor. Should have been more of that! Was expecting a little more blood on the dance floor though :S

Does anyone else think that the part where they're walking slow-motion through the club looks like it's been edited like that to cut something out maybe?

Ugh, Samuel Bayer sucks. He's like the Michael Bay of music videos.

Green Day should have went with Marc Webb again, who did 21 Guns & 21st CB, AND he directed 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man.

a little too long motorcycle riding and by the way I didn't realize why those tow girls were fightinig, but overally awesome video.

You got to be fucking kidding me! This is supposed to happen on Tuesday! tongue3.gif

I'll wait 'til then. :)

I lied... *goes watch the video right now*

video is not bad but they should get another director. sam bayer's videos are pretty boring. still hoping for a walking contradiction style music video.

Bayer did JOS. People tend to forget that.

Anyway, this was boring. As fuck. wtf is with the motorbikes? I'd understand if it were 5 seconds, but it was half the video..

With a song like JOS, can you really mess up directing a music video? There's really no room for interpretation besides bringing those words to life. I'm sure any talented director could have made a killer video with it. Lately, his visions of the new songs are just uninspired and flat.

Oooh he did JOS! Impressive. He also did the abomination known as the Nightmare On Elm Street remake.

i like this video, it seems to fit the song better then the Oh Love video!

It's just not good.

Also, i had a big problem with JOS, and that was the look of JOS.

He looked like the stereotypical Hot Topic emo kid. I mean really.

Like most of green day's music videos this century (American Idiot being an exception): meh.

Haha omg

We're going off topic here, but that stereotypical style was very much so fueled by the guys back in the Idiot days.

I know...and it was annoying. They looked like what the mainstream perceived as "punks".

Punks aren't mohawked leather jacket wearing people either. That's an image and uniform of "punk", which is a contradiction of what punk stands for. Oh, the irony. The dude with the green mohawk and leather jacket is just as "unique" as the guy decked out in Aeropostale and Abercrombie.

I love it so much, how arrogant Green Day arrives at the party :D

Well, all I'm saying is that he knows his shit, and the style fits the music, but I'm no fan of it.

But what would you expect? You can't make a video that doesn't fit the song, that would be worse imo.

From the looks of it, new GD fans like it, old fans (3 years+, aka, from 21ctbd era) don't like it because the previous records were albums with much more lyrical content.

I don't get why they/he can't seem make a video that screams FUN like Holiday or even American Idiot did for an album that was advertised as a serious political rock opera.

Now they're going for advertising fun and everyone in the videos looks like they're dying from boredom… :ermm:

:woot: It's much better than Oh Love!

I really liked the club scenes with GD. The motorbikes scenes are cool, too. But I think they were too long.

The bit at the beginning with the motorcycles seemed a bit dragged out and I found myself going "okay we get it they're on motorcycles let's gooo"

Exactly.

I enjoyed the long motorbike part. Nice to get a proper uninterrupted look at their badass bike riding instead of just little clips.

I feel like it has a bit of a Danger Days vibe - I dunno, motorbikes in the desert, someone with a big fluffy animal head, reminds me of NaNaNaNa somewhat.

Green Day does own a mobile pirate radio station....Conspiracy time? :toocool:

He uses a lot of explosions?

Marc Webb has made some of my favorite music videos of all time (and, yes, 500 Days of Summer was great too), but he's also made some duds (Last of the American Girls and MCR's Teenagers video spring to mind most readily). The same is true for Sam. Neither of them would have the reputation they do if ALL their videos sucked. But they don't always bat 1000 either. :P

Sam Bayer's reputation different. He made one of the most iconic videos of all time in Smells Like Teen Spirit. He's always going to have work. He's put out shit ever since (minus American Idiot, his only other great video). Who wouldn't wanna say they worked with the SLTS guy? Kill the DJ is better than most videos out right now

Meh. Well, it's better than Oh Love, but that ain't saying much.
